the finns did not invent the molotov cocktail. bottles filled with petrol were reported being used during the spanish civil war, according to what i read many years ago (sorry that i cannot remember where). they were just responsible for its name. they named it after the russian foreign minister whom they particularly hated.
Well if you compare this video is taken in 1942, probably after the winter moscow defeat, sounds logical, they didnt have panzershreck or panzerfaust or antitank weapons with a caliber bigger then 37s, and t-34 was ruling the field even the optics wasnt perfect, should they sit and wait for a miracle? they try , in last pictures 8-9 tnts and multi handgranades actually works

It's also been documented that one particular Finnish soldier, using only a crowbar, ripped the treads off of a moving Russian tank. Talk about improvised :D
The pins on the T-34 were not screwed in, but rather inserted from the inside, and pushed back in each time they went around, with a characteristic squeal. Because of that you could remove a pin if you were sneaky. The German Pzkw-4 had its air inlets for the engine on the side, and so was less vulnerable to molotov cocktails than other tanks.
The actual Molotov cocktail was deviced by a swedish army officer who was instructing the Finns on how to destroy tranks, he even taught a method , the stick bomb which is shown in "Saving Private Rayan"
