    p.s. did you have to move the jumper on the hard drive?

  • @1972jeepcommando; if you're using an IDE/PATA hard drive and enclosure, you should make sure that the jumpers are set for the "master" drive position.

    what kind of enclosure is this?

    and if i just put in my ide hard drive and it will work?

  • @ChojinLove The enclosure shown here is a Sumvision one which accepts SATA internal hard drives and converts them into an external hard drive with USB 2.0 and eSATA ("external SATA") interfaces.

    However, most enclosures work in a broadly similar way.

    If you want to use an IDE hard drive, you'll have to buy an enclosure designed for IDE drives.

    Most enclosures include a USB 2.0 interface, but not all of them include eSATA.
