  • Janis is the best.

  • en vez de poner sombady to love ubieras puesto white rabbit :)

  • It was a bit light in other sections but when I saw Janis I was prepared to possibly wait 9 minutes to see the obvious, or possibly Amy, Janis Ian, Eartha Kitt,Madonna(nah Phuck off), I was a baby in 1963(all year),Billie Holiday, no blondie does not qualify, I really like but not good enough,Ike and Tina. back then yeah but not her recent stuff, bland and empty,Karen for sure,I'd go with La Supremes and Janis makes me cry but also to happy for the tears, oh Gee's us I got Aretha for my sins!!!

  • "I Will Survive" should've been higher. Women love that song. Its practically an anthem.

  • Grace Slick ; an all time of Mine :

  • Why you are arguing people? It's Cokain3 opinion. You can have a different.

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS BEYONCE ? LOL THANK YOU FOR THIS TOP 10 SHOWED WHAT A BAD TASTE PEOPLE CAN HAVE SOMETIMES BEYONCE SINGLE LADIES??? CRAZY IN LOVE ??? GET OVER 80S PLEASE AND BEYONCE WAS 90S SO CANT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT YEAR

  • Madonna at #8? What is this based on? According to Billboard, The RIAA, Media Traffic, and Guinness Book Of World Records MADONNA is the biggest female artist of the ENTIRE rock era based on sales, chart history and touring. She is the most famous woman on Earth and according to the WTO the most pirated artist of all time. Madonna has had far more #1 selling singles on the Global chart than ANY artist or band.

  • lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 stupid!! i don´t know who is the stupid person who do this lists in VH1 madonna must be in number 1

  • where the hell is mariah?

  • i enjoyed watching the videos for this list you created! buut why no Janet Jackson?? Celine Dion?? Mariah Carey??

those three plus Madonna and Whitney are the biggest names in female pop music!

  • Did females stop recording songs after 1990?

  • debbie gibson? wtf where was patti labelle and whitney

  • Im wondering...is being from an old and bygone age a prerequisite for getting into this list??

  • Greatest Songs of Female Artists of All Time? Where is Ella Fitzgerald with lets say "Dream a Little Dream Of Me" with Louis Armstrong? I would say nobody sings better than her and if her songs come from an earlier time it makes no difference-she has to be top 10.....

  • It's just weird. Was a dart board involved in picking choices, or just personal taste? Make a long list and then rethink and ask folks with different tastes, then try again.

  • Aretha absolutely no 1. Cool list.

  • ascoooooooooo aretha... W A C A L A !!!!.... the first 2... my heart will go on & i will always love you!

  • You couldn't have picked a better song for number one.

  • Check out our music! Female fronted with a female multi-instrumentalist!

  • Where's Donna Summer, Dionne Warwick, Carly Simon & Olivia Newton-John?? And how about Crystal Gayle, Whitney Houston & Cher?? There's your #11-17 for sure.

  • Amália Rodrigues (Portugal), Cesária Évora (Cape Verde), Mercedes Sosa (Argentina), Oum Kalthoum (Egypt), Billie Holiday (USA), Ella Fitzgerald (USA), Sarah Vaughan (USA), Aretha Franklin (USA), Maria Bethânia (Brazil), Elis Regina (Brazil), Edith Piaf (France), Carmen Miranda (Portugal/ Brazil), Maria Callas (USA/ Greece), Montserrat Caballé (Spain), Janis Joplin (USA).
  • Tina Turner will always be a better performer then Aretha but Aretha will always be the better vocalist

  • Sam Cooke i think he actually wrote Respect

  • @MultiOdom was Otis Redding :D

  • @Cokain3 Yea your rite

  • IM FOR KAREN CARPENTER GREAT TOP 5

  • votes for carpenter

  • I AGREE BUT BARBRA STREISAND?????

  • I AGREE.......BUT BARBRA STREISAND??????????????

  • DEBBIE HARRY is incredible im so happy for all the amazing womans in the world :D

  • Female artists in mainstream sound like crap.

  • Personally, I can't stand Janis Joplin. Her voice sounds like a chainsaw to me or that she is straining her voice.

  • Grace slick hands down has the most beautiful voice.

  • this is a good list but you missed Whitney Houston

  • WHAT@$!$# No Billie Holiday? #$@ Strange Fruit?

  • This is a great selection of videos but the lack of Heart depresses me.

  • Thank you for putting my queen in number 8 :D

  • Out of curiosity do you have songs by Wendy O. Williams on the list or P.P. Arnolds The Frst Cut is the Deepest?

  • Janis came out with me and bobby mgeee before 1971...The video is still good tho

  • Overall well done, but taking into account that Parts 3 & 7 are blocked so I don't these artists :

These are mostly Rock artists from the 1960s through 1980s from the USA

Artists prior to 1960 are largely missing, i.e., Billy Halliday

Artists after 1990 are few, i.e., Celine Deon .

No Classical (Opera), Gospel, Jazz, few show tunes, one country

Finally, a few of my non-USA personal favorites like Petula Clark - Downtown (UK) & Lara Fabian - I will Love Again (Belgium) are missing

  • You know, if you want to do the actual best female "songs" of all time, do it by songwriter. A lot of these artists didn't write their own songs. I mean, they have amazing voices but they didn't write it.

  • janis joplin should have been number 1

  • Thank you for the great female song list. Good work.

  • Really great selection, great Job!!!!

    I liked watching it

I only miss Billie Holiday in this one, I think she really should be on there.

Also Janis Joplin - Bobby McGee is from 1970, she never lived to see 1971

  • Good Job Cokain3. Thx a lot. Dont forget Maureen McGovern (Morning After) and Minnie Riperton (Loving You)

  • to the person that said Janis Joplin isn't on the list she is on the list three times; even at #2.

  • God i miss the 80's, best years of my life, America was America!

  • @4624tone 80's?! dude, 60's and 70's were the best!!!

  • @yaara875846 So right !!!

  • @yaara875846 In my opinion, all three were the best. Better than the 90s and 00s for sure!

  • What about the italian Mina Mazzini?

  • Janis Joplin has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard, I absolutely love it. And Aretha Franklin has the most powerful voice ever. People must have given her respect after that song :)

  • @blueyedgrl108 of course, two higher voices of all times... thnx !!

  • Karen carpenter should have been number 1 she had such a beautiful voice and amazing clarity you never had to look up any of her lyrics

  • @SunlitAries1625 how right you are ! i enjoy listening to all of the great voices of this era but i must say karen carpenters voice transcends all with only a select few even coming close. and coupled with the musical arrangements of her brother richard she was a brilliant light in the dusk of the american music industry.

  • very nice thnx

  • Everybody that would have loved to have been back there to experience the 60s 70s 80s music ,please raise your hand ,

  • Comment removed

  • It's so good this list. There's a lot of the gratest songs of female artist. I think that Mariah Carey and Celine Dion must be in this list, because they are two of the greatest voice and songs ever.

  • you great

  • Cokain3 instead of repeat the same singer as Blondie, Carpenter and others you should put others songs that are equal great or even better. But even though i really enjoyed the selection you choose, good job.

  • what was the intro song called

  • @hijko123 is the intro of Respect - Aretha Franklin

  • tnx, btw nice vid

  • @Cokain3 O.o great list but u missed 2 epic songs... Sinnerman by Nina Simone and Tainted love By Gloria Jones
