  • I really miss flying in the 80s when even an economy seat left you with room to stretch out hmmmmm now i HAVE to get an aisle seat as most times my legs just dont fit behind the seat in front of me

  • This ad deserves some kind of award

  • Toronto has really changed over the past 25 years

  • @vistarox

Very true; The city of Toronto's borders expanded and today includes the former North York, Scarborough, York, Etobicoke, and East York

  • @homersimpson9 In fact the Metro Region of Toronto Or "GTA" now stretches as far east as Oshawa, north to nearly Lake Simcoe and west to include Burlington. And Toronto itself includes all the former boroughs. Yup, pretty big. But I like it a lot ;)

  • @Chrisrex83

I love Toronto also. J'adore Toronto aussi.

I want to visit the T.O. again especially during the summer

I would be trashed on by Leafs fans there because I like the Habs. My main team however is the Detroit Red Wings [of course]!

  • Dan Williams of Dan Williams Music Nashville, wrote and produced this spot that ran for several years.

  • I remember this...the good old days...good times....goooood times..... :)

  • lol in 1985 canada was so toronto centric that the best image they could think of to represent canada was the fricken toronto skyline. lol thnk god COD CO, THIS HOUR. and later Corner Gas etc etc came along ..isnt most tv commercial work done out of Vancover now???

  • this is old in the days

  • it was a little bit blurry when the maple leaf was at the Federal Parliament (or was it Château Frontenac?)

  • dragonfly730: It's definitely not the Château Frontenac. It looks more like the Palace of Westminster (the British Parliament), and the clock on the right hand side looks like Big Ben.

  • It was neither; it's the House of Commons in London.

  • It's a pity

  • the song is REALLy catchy :) Too bad AC's uniforms aren't that beautiful now, and also that if you were in Economy in a domestic flight from Vancouver to Toronto, the F/A's don't even COME to you when you press the call button a million times!! They're probably gossiping too much that their ears and eyes could'nt even see me press the button for something. They've changed since 2004.

  • Too bad people don't dress like that to travel anymore. When I was young people still dressed like that, but now that I'm an adult people travel in pajamas, flip flops and undershirts. It really is in bad taste I find. It's one thing to dress to be comfortable it's another to dress like you're going to crash on the couch...

  • I totally agree with you. I always try to dress nice for a plane ride.

  • I feel the same way; my parents certainly never dressed up to fly when I was young, they think it's just cramming on a cubical for 5 hours.

On the other hand, I iron my shirts before heading out to the airport.......my starfleet uniform that is.

  • @Videos2G0 you're spot-on. In the 60's, my mother made us wear boby socks, patent leather shoes and GLOVES to fly from San Francisco to New York once a year. I still remember biting into a cherry tomato and squirting tomato seeds all over a lady's WHITE CHANEL SUIT (I sat next to her, mother sat with my little sister----small DC-8's in those days). People dressed well because air travel was still exclusive. Now they pack you in and people think, "Who cares?"

  • @marginallymental So many people buy tickets online and I think without that travel agent there to explain sometimes I think a lot of people don't know how to act - in the airport or on board the aircraft. Online ticket purchasing is part of what has made flying so very open to everyone now. You can be leaving work Friday night, buy a ticket, swing home to get your passport and weekend bag and be in Las Vegas that night. Airlines do pack people on, but it's about money. It's easier.

  • It's easier to add a few extra rows to an aircraft than to have a whole extra aircraft I think. Also with fuel going up and everyone screaming that they want cheaper tickets Airlines have no choice. You can only cut back in certain areas and only so much.

  • Na na bitch of a wife.

  • Probably the least customer oriented airline in the world. Learned the hard way many times over 25yrs, as no alternative exists for some destinations. I hope they do go bankrupt and let WJ do it properly.

  • Don't you think it's bad to wish someone out of business? I think that the only problem with Air Canada is the food...PARF

  • @computeraddict183 Parf? you mean BARF.

  • I agree, love the song of this beautiful 80's add for Air Canada...thank you so much!

  • I'm really glad you posted this, I've wanted to hear this commercial for over 20 years and remember it very well. The melody is so nice and it brings back good memories. Thanks.
