i hate to say it but RicePlaysBass is right. you really need to work on your timing. as a bass player, you have got to find the pocket. if you play songs at the right tempo with a solid groove, it sounds more like the song you're attempting. i know your description said Mario but i was having a hard time hearing it just because the tempo kept speeding up and down drastically.
