  • BEB was originally written as a reprise on the EBE single EBE being pre-apocalyptic and BEB providing a post-apocalyptic epilogue to the original song though it can be listened to as a song in its own right. Pumpkins did a similar thing with the Tonight Tonight/Tonite reprise single. In regards to techincal terms everyone's kinda right, parodies/pastiches are usually either humorous or homages/fan versions and remixes/reworkings usually change structure without significantly changing content.

  • This verse of this song is obviously the best version, but i think all it is is the drums thats it.

  • Is BEB a parody of EBE or the other way around?

  • Neither. A parody is when you make fun of the song.

THIS came before The Beginning is The End is The Beginning.

  • So, what exactly would it be when you have different lyrics but don't make fun of the song. Like Feel the Fire by Shadow Warriors and Strike of the Ninja by DragonForce?

  • Probably a copyright violation.

  • "chuckle"

    They're the same band. Technically.

  • I'm not sure, I think it really doesn't have a word.

  • k... in that case, for purposes of the discussion, can we still call it a parody? or do you think there might be a better word?

  • It's just "remake." Stop playing with semantics and trying to sound smart. It's failing.

  • what is the diff between the two songs?

im confused as to why there r two...

buht i lyk the beginning is the end is the beginning bttr

  • they have different lyrics.

  • oh, thanks :]

  • Plus this one has more of a rock feel.

  • Some of the verses are completely different or kind of mirror the other and the pace of the songs are different

  • i always loved that movie lol

    especially as a little kid

but the music i always love the old versions

  • Both songs are equally awesome in their own way. That's what i think.

  • yeah

  • the begining is the end is the begining is better in my opinion

  • Same here. I agree with Syler, but I like the way that BEB is good more.

  • the lyrics are different but I cant decide what one I like better

the begining is the end is the begining

    or

the end is the begining is the end

    what do you guys think?

  • I've never been able to decide...

  • why couldn't the movie been as cool as this video?

  • This Batman And Robin Movie Sucked Hardcore!!! But I Heard The Song In The Credits.

  • Doctor Manhatten and Robin!

  • gah i loved that damn movie but never noticed the song

  • i dont think it was in the movie

  • It wasnt in the movie itself, it was in the credits though. This video was also on the second disc in th 2 disc dvd

  • i think were thinking of 2 different movies

  • my bad i assumed you were talking about Batman and Robin cuz thats what the video is from.

  • yeah i completely forgot that this was from batman im thinkin of the other song that was in the watchmen trailer

  • yes,but it was slow version

  • It's actually called The Beginning is the end is the Beginning on the Watchmen trailer.

  • Actually if you look on the sound track, you should notice they are two separate songs. One is The End is the Beginning is the End which is what you are watching here, and was used in batman 3 music sound track. The other is called The Beginning is the End is the Beginning which is the one used in the Watchmen trailer which u refer too...THEY ARE TWO SEPARATE SONGS!

  • It's still the same song only it's more heavy rock.

  • No, they arent the same, they have very different lyrics.

  • No. Lyrics for the other one are far more depressing

  • that's kinda what I meant....

  • both versions sound cool to me

  • he sounds like a whiney bitch. yes, the drummer is awesome.

  • He does not sound like a whiney bitch.

  • maybe, but he looks like one ;D

  • The "new version" was released at the same time, by the same band. In other words, Billy Corgan sings both versions.

  • Yea; it's a bit like coldplay with Lost! and Lost?

  • no it doesnt, its harder and faster

  • Please don't compare Coldplay to the Smashing Pumpkins, no matter the circumstance.

  • It's not a new version. The Pumpkins made both versions of the song at the same time, with slightly different titles.

  • Oh my god. he's the one that possessed Sharon Den Adel in music videos.

  • This must have been the funnest video to shoot. I remember matt talking about how hard it was to drum while levitating haha.

  • Everybody needs to 'chill' out and 'cool' down.

    What a fuckin' movie.

  • Me too! But I like the beginning is the end is the beginning more ^^

  • "Is it bright where you are? Have the people changed? Does it make you happy you're so strange?" love that quote!

  • I think I like both versions equally. Depends on my mood I guess...

  • this song rocks and blows my mind

  • i prefer the other version

  • haha. drum set rocks :P

  • Like this song...wish it didn't have connections to either movie though

  • I like the other version better, even if this is the original. This song is not meant to have a fast rock beat. To me, it doesn't work, and his voice is weird in this version. but hey, just my opinion

  • This version is on the soundtrack of the movie Batman and Robin, which sucked. But the song gets my approval. And yeah Piiratekid1 you pretty much just a ignorant idiot.

  • yes he is

  • i pretty much only watch this video for floating hot james iha

  • it wasnt remade the other version is called the begining is the end is the begining and it was released on the single at the same time as this one... and btw it only appears on the promo for watchmen its not on the soundtrack yo.

  • y is corgan so bald? i mean really does he have cancer or is he just naturraly bald??!?!?!!?!?

  • He's a emoqueen and a control freak ,that's why.

  • he's shaved

  • Why does it look like everyone in this video looks like there having three orgasms (sp?) seriously, they are all looking like they are on X. lol I like the remake they did of this song WAY better. This version sucks.

  • it isn't a remake my ignorant friend, it was made at the same time, back in 1996, and they're the pumpkins if you insult them you must die

  • Ok get all offened over nothing will you. And exucse the hell out of me for not knowing the difference between this shitty version and the good version. Stfu, grow up, go win the lottery and buy yourself a life ok buddy.

  • what do you find shitty in this version, this is a masterpiece, tell me 5 flaws this song has and i'll leave you alone, and I wasn't offended, I was stupified by your assholeness, and that thing about the lottery, was fucking stupid, go win the lotery and but better things to say

  • Yeah this version is awesome to ^_^

  • Ok, 1. The music sucks, the other version is WAY better. 2. The video sucks. 3. They all look like thay are having an orgy with their instruments. 4. The song is way to fast, and it sounds like shit. 5 Overall, this version is total shit and only douchebags like it.

I would do what you suggested, but I think I would buY better insults rather than buT them.

  • well i said flaws in this version, and you only said 3 dumbass, and, who the fuck cares about the way they look?, I KNOW THE ANSWER!!, ONLY DOUCHEBAGS

  • Yea, know, I gave you five, but you're to much of a total dumbass to actually see how thios version is shit and the other version is THE shit.

  • you gave me 3 about the song, another one about the way their face looks and the other one about the people who listen to the magnificent masterpiece. You are too stupid to see my point

  • And you're too stupid to see that this song sucks ass up the ass. The other version is better, you know it, end of story.

  • naaah, this version was created first. this one's good too. so stfu, piiratekid1. your mom has herpes

  • Corgan's smooth head looks like a dildo.

  • Are that scenes from Batman with Mr. Freeze in the Background?? o.O

  • yeah it was part of the soundtrack...sad isn't it that a such a good song has to be associated with such crap.

  • I prefer "The End is the Beginning of the End". It's more energetic, alternative and strong! And it's been my favorite song by TSP for a handfull of years now! :D Long Live The Smashing Pumpkins!

  • Comment removed

  • creepy. I liked te beginning is the end is the beginning better

  • yeah i agree with you...slower one is way better!

  • I can't decide which I like better: the end is the beginning is the end or the beginning is the end is the beginning. xD

  • Yes, lyrics are different. "The End is the Beginning is the End" starts with :

    The sewers belch me up

    The heavens spit me out...

"The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" starts with:

    Send a heartbeat to

The void that cries through you...

Only part that's the same is the chorus. Go check the lyrics on the web.

  • You should treat both songs as different songs, mostly. The lyrics are different!!

  • no theyre not

  • oh man

  • you're wrong

  • Different beats, different titles, and different lyrics (with the exception of the chorus, and both have similar ideas).

  • Great song, awful movie.

  • Watchmen or batman & robin?

cause i though Watchmen was a gr8 movie that lived up to it's origin comic

I thought B&R was the exact opposite

  • Watchmen is The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning.

  • Oh I meant Batman & Robin, don't worry. I haven't seen Watchmen yet, but I intend to, sounds like it'll be my kind of film.

    B&R was pretty diabolical, though.

  • Great song, great movie.

  • good song. not..so...great movie...

  • Slow version is much better in my opinion

  • To tell ya the truth i love both of them...but the slow version has somthin myterious that lured me to it

  • nice guitars!!! SP rules!!!

  • i think i like the watchman one better

but this one is still great!!

  • i didnt know they were different damn now im disapointed

  • The song is phenomenal and the movie in the background actually looks good compared to what it turned out to be :P

  • fantastic song, too bad batman and robin was a horrible movie

  • agreed

  • This would be a better song for the original Batman movies, the darker ones directed by Tim Burton. Batman And Robin was from the Campy Era of Batman, otherwise known as the era that ruined Batman's image. I like the slower remixed version, it suits Watchmen very well. Not just the lyrics, but the slow and dramatic appeal it brings.

  • I love this song and it's from Batman & Robin.

  • The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning

    is a lot better

  • agreed

  • It depends. This is the original, that's just a remix. I prefer the alt-metal of the Smashing Pumpkins, but the remix is great too.

I treat them as separate songs. Completely different themes, trying to go for different things.

  • i liek the slower version better

  • I love this song so much and James looks so amazing. Can someone please tell me what went wrong with Batman and Robin? i'd really appreciate that. thnx.

  • great song. Awful Movie.

  • he looks like a freakin girl

  • I like the beginning is the end is the beginning better :D

  • i like the slow version betterrrr

hell, they're both good! but this is the only song i like from the smashing pumpkins.

  • if this is the only song you like of the smashing pumpkins you musn't have heard much of them...

  • amazing lirics *personal opinion* i think this lirics goes a lot better with the slow paced song, it's my favorite one.

  • Same here.

  • This version is very good but not even nearly as good as the slow one. That one is nothing short of magnificent. Anyway, the lyrics are incredible.

  • good song, i like both versions

  • the guitar looks like a giant water gun

  • Great song. Horrible batman movie however.

  • I like both versions. I can't say which one's better, since both are good in different ways.

  • Neither can i but i was just listening to The Beginning is the End is the Beginning and now this.

  • I think the one altered for the Watchmen soundtrack is better. Its not as fast pace and gives a little more meaning to the song.

  • You can suck if you want, but the movie is great. You just don't have enough brains for solving the movie's mystery.

  • nah i liked the movie just fine, i just felt the sex scenes kinds ruined it is all.

  • Well, I was in toiler back then XD so maybe I missed something disgusting. But I loved the movie. It's like... batman and menstruation.

  • Yeah, the last one was waaay to drawn out. I was a little pissed they didn't go more into Rorschach's origins, or what happened to his therapist, because it just didn't have he same impact. Also, I felt they played alot of songs that were kinda inappropriate at very inappropriate times, like the scene with Dr. Manhattan fighting in Vietnam, or when the Owlship just made it onto the ice-shelf.

  • I feel the film was very well done and despite leaving out a few bits from the novel, I still believe that overall it has satisfied a majority of newcomers and current fans of the watchmen story. The music was primarily used, i feel, to enhance the feel of the period. Also, music at inappropriate times is generally, by design, to get the viewer to feel a specific emotion and usually the opposite music for a scene generates feelings of sadness or anger. Overall phenom of a film. Good song too.

  • Don't get me wrong, I loved the move, but those were really my only major gripes.

  • also the music was mostly from the 80's like 99 red ballons

  • "two riders were approaching and the wind began to howl"- with Rorschach and NiteOwl approaching Ozzy.

and the stuff with the Doc was kind of like a homage a bit to Apocalypse Now and how Vietnam was displayed to us.

  • this is different than the awesome one in the trailer...what gives?

  • the song in the trailer is The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning

this song is The End is the Beginning is the End

  • Yes, I hate it when people get them mixed up.

  • different song that one is the beginning is the end is the beginning

  • weird :P lol

  • Watchmen is a really good movie, except the naked scenes and sex scenes made it look horrible, and the actress malin akerman was horrible.

Too cheesy for a naked, sex rated R movie

The picture was great, the story very interesting,if it didn't have the junk in it i would have loved it.

  • I felt most of the sex scenes weren't over done. Except for the one scene with night owl and the silk spectre in that flying whatsa-ma-thing. Over doing it a little there.

The violence I felt was necessary and looked great.

  • what?!!?! the movie was sick and so is this song thay go good together

  • I agree that movie didn't live up to this song in the least... a bit of a waste. Watchmen is at least a ton better.

  • there is one scene in that shittastic movie where they fall at least 1 thousand feet, i left the theatre.

  • badass song, fuck-awful movie

  • i loove this song

  • i like the Watchmen version better.

    but this also good.

  • this is the end is the beginning is the end the watchmen song is the beginning is the end is the beginning

  • I thought the movie was slightly below average.

I enjoyed the villains' performances, but when your heroes are a self-righteous asshole, a whiny bitch, and a wooden actress, who can you turn to?

I think Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman did a good job. But the characters could be portrayed better in a newer Batman movie.

  • i will agree that Uma did good as ivy,but arnold as freeze was just brutal to the character. He made him look like a idiot,he wasent near as serious as the character was in the cartoons.

  • I didn't say I enjoyed Arnold on a serious level.

  • I wish the current movies had songs like these.

  • I liked this version, is more dynamic than of watchmen movie.

    Great song, Bad movie.

  • i cant even watch this, songs great but the movie.... i cant even say it. close window

  • i like this version way better more metal feeling

  • that would be because it's not the same song. the title is "the end is the beginning is the end," not "the beginning is the end is the beginning." see the difference. the latter is the more melancholic version used for the watchmen trailer

  • not sure if you realized this... but the version of this song in the watchmen is different. not only is the music different, but so is the title. the feel is different, changing the mood of the music and its meaning altogether. this version is more about the destruction of the city. the watchmen version is more about the rebirth.

meaning in music isnt only found in the lyrics.. dig deeper.

  • Couldn't of said it better.

  • which is totally unintended

  • i only like the chorus in this song

  • i kinda like his dance in this version. No matter how, this is the original version

  • I Hate This Verison

  • This one is good but wierd in a "STRANGE" way.

    WATCHMEN FOREVER

  • better in watch men i kinda hate dis 1

  • this was originally written for batman and robin.... back in 97... gag!!! :P

  • THis song was released in 1993 not 85.

  • actually it was released in 97

  • 97 with the batman flim

  • the song isnt in the movie Watchmen because it is set in '85 and they only used songs from the time.

  • LIES!!! They play it at the end with the credits! Watch it again.

  • Exactly. Yes, it was in Batman and Robin. And yes, it is in Watchmen.
