  • I write to Anne now.

Its funny. I never met her never will. She never knew I would one day exist but she is truly my best friend. I have no secrets from her. I write to her almost everyday and she helps me have hope for tomorrow.

I hope to one day go and see the secret annex. It would make me so happy. I'm sad to hear her beloved chestnut tree has fallen though.

    Thank you for posting this.

    Yours, Samantha (:

  • So much respect for this man xxxx

  • im trying to read the diary im only on the first few pages but i feel so bad for him he is probly up in hevan with anne, margot, and edith holding them tight

  • just imagine how he felt when he heard about the Death of Anne and Margot i bet he cried his heart out

  • its fate, he was the only surviver, it was god who let otto live so her story could be heard.

  • Otto Frank was brilliant. He believed,as was expressed on the video, that most parents don't really know their children. I wish he could have suggested ways or things parents can do to get to know them in the way Otto got to know his daughter after reading her diary.

  • Wow! I just watched the movie and I have read her book. She was an amazing and beautiful people. Seeing her father talk about her so peacefully made me want the same peace when I loss someone close to me if I ever do. Thank you so much Mr. Frank for sharing her book with the world!!

  • Otto was just a wonderfull dad who cared so much about hes daughters.

If we look at the second world war and now.

Theres more peace but still people are having war , like about religions,

    Hitler was a bad man,

and everybody who was agains him had the feeling to kick hes ass...

  • I read this book back in the 5th grade and i didn't get most of what Anne was talking about and to me most of it was boring. i read it again in6th grade and had a much better understanding; i have read it many times now and it is now one of my favorite books.

  • im reading the book now... soo sad... people are llike ooh it soo stupid like really guys?

  • There are only two places I want to go before I die, New York and I want to visit the annex

  • Anne wrote about him with such pride.

  • He looks so serene because he knew that she could see through him. They never had a good relationship like he portrayed it. He removed a lot of information about that from the diary.

The past is the present & the present is the future...

He was the only one who came back alive. Deep in his heart: He knows why... and so did she. Has he ever felt guilty about what he did to her?

The truth always comes out Otto: You have no conscience but the past has come back to remind you of the truth

  • God Bless the Frank family. May the truth about what this family faced NEVER be erased from history. It it a soooo critical that we all know and speak the truth.

    Amazing....and amazingly sad too.

  • cannot even imagine having to put myself in otto's place. he was a strong man indeed.

  • I cant imagine what he went through losing his entire family. It breaks my heart to know what the Nazis put people through.

  • I couldn't imagine what he went through. It must've been really hard for him to read Anne's diary and talk about it. I wish I could've met him.

  • It's just so sad....Thank you Otto for talking to us.

  • R.I.P you are a great man

  • R.I.P the Frank Family and the ones who suffered with them

  • Otto frank is such a gentleman, I try to be like him.

  • poor man. cant imagine how he could talk about that looking so serene

  • 3 years later he died :(

  • That poor family... and all the others... tore apart because one man didn't think people were pure. D: God Bless him

  • we watched the diary of anne frank today in reading class, and i cried for two hours thinking of what the frank family and millions of other jewish families went through. it amazes me that someone could be so cruel to so many people, and it makes me want to do my part in making the world a more peaceful place. like this is you agree!

  • Mr Frank is a hero for what he went through and remained a gentleman all his life

  • i've been to the annex in amsterdam before and its so touching<3

  • his spirit and wisdom is touching. i think we all wish we couldve met him at least once

  • This just makes me feel sad..T-T

  • Poor poor Otto. It's Horrible to see your young children die and wife

  • R.I.P. Otto and his family, all the others who were in hiding with them, and the people who cared for them

  • As much as I love the diary, this man is for me the one who stands out the most. He saw his whole family die (and saying "to die" is softening the magnitude of hte event) and experienced first-hand the horrors of the war and the holocaust. He must have been broken for the rest of his long life, and I admire the simple fact that he was able to survive and stay sane after the war. It would have been impossible for me to live on thinking "why not me? why did they all die and I survived?"

  • God bless Otto Frank.

  • My eyes are filling up with tears. I think about all the people hurt by other people in every way, everywhere, anytime.

  • My eyes are filling up with tears. I think about all the people hurt by other people in every way, everywhere, anytime.

  • This man is very strong, I don't know if I could live anymore when loosing all my family, Otto Frank is a real man.

  • I think it is safe to say that Otto recieved the most torture. This is wrong for anybody to go through the pain that the Jewish people did durring the second World War.

  • Im hurt becuase how many people hate others because of there race there color this video made me sad

  • Poor mister Otto Frank... This is just sad, and touching...

  • @petescan321 He was a good man. Hid Annelies for for 2 years giving Anne time to write her wonderful diary

  • This is such a touching video, I love Anne Frank and Otto so much. If you look into Otto's eyes in this vid, you'll see an ocean of wisdom in them... it's so beautiful.

  • I own The Diary of a Young Girl, and it is my favorite book. I read it all the time. I'm so glad that I found this rare interview of Anne's father as well.

  • I just read Anne Franks diary, and it was nice to hear "Pims" (her dad) thought after reading it himself. It's truly sad she had to die couse of some crazy peoples idea...

  • My eyes fill up with tears when I think of what this man lived through. I'm so thankful he shared his Daughters Diary with the world.

  • wow thats reall him i feel soo sorry for him :(

  • I read this book when I was in sixth grade. At first glace I didn't see wat the big deal was but then when I read the book I cried for hours. To think that girl barley in her teens had to witness something so horriable. I pray that no one ever has to go threw what Anne Frank and her family did.

  • What an incredibly brave and gracious man ... I can't wait to read Anne's diary. I am visiting Amsterdam later in the year and I plan on visiting The Anne Frank museum. I had tears in my eyes listening to her father! x

  • @Vegasbabex

Its an incredible feeling when you get to the Annex. You can just feel her presence there with you. Its just so emotional.

  • What a loving father Otto Frank was. Anne Frank was very lucky to have a father like him. She must really have loved her Pim (as she fondly called him).

  • @merfwriter yes, she did. she always talked about how she loved her dad so much. i can't have imagined how it must have been for her to be taken away from him at auschwitz, never to see him again.

  • Never forget & never again.

  • He was resilient, tirelessly supportive of people, and had a positive look on life, even when all hopes was were vanished.

Otto Frank is a legend. It his he, who made the story of Anne Frank known to the world.

  • This is really sad! He surprisingly speaks English very well though

  • very impressive video.

  • I just watched the movie adaptation of Anne Frank last night and I am finishing the book currently. Otto Frank survived 2 world wars, the massacre of his entire family, and a stint in a concentration himself, and he lived afterwards to be 80 years old. Mr. Frank was one tough customer for sure. May peaceful rest be bestowed to all who suffered in this human tradgedy.

  • I am 52, and have just finished reading Anne Frank's Diary . It is never too late . I am honoured to have learnt about this amazing family

  • What a brave man and such a sweet soul. It is nice that he was able to see how his daughter's diary effected so many people. You can also see how much love he had for his daughter and the rest of his family.

  • wow.

  • Never forget and never again

  • he's such a great man!

  • God this just breaks my heart

  • So sad

  • Amazing what he has survied strong man and all Jews

  • I pray that the Frank Family is resting in peace now. May they never be forgotten.

  • i wish that there was a video of anne actually speakin for her self

  • Not a bitter man, he was a truly brilliant man, absolutely inspiring few minutes with a man of the utmost integrity, like him with his daughter, I don't know him, but this is enough for me.

  • i went to the house just yesteday , just remarkable

  • I would have loved to write to him like so many other children did.Having a personal reponse from him would have been amazig.RIP Otto,Anne,Margot, and Edith.Family together in heaven♥

  • @AnneFrankforeverx3 I have read about a chapter of the halocaust. I am deeply moved andI really do hope that the Van Danns and the Frank family is alright.

  • The holocaust was a horrible wart and im not saying i hate germany because i dont i hate the president that of germany that was descriminating people and doing horrible things to them i thin that anne frank was also very unlicky because she was killed 2 weeks before the war ended and i cant believe how devastating that must be for her father i just think it's heartbroken

  • Yes, he was an amazing man, and I'm sure he was also inspired by Anne herself.

  • As a bereaved parent I can truly understand how Otto Frank must have felt losing his children. The dreams of the future are gone. But the hope that people may remember your child is a blessing. Otto and his family have received many blessings from around our globe because of his daughter's sincerest thoughts. I am grateful to him for having the courage to publish Anne's Diary.

  • @dougpannep Bless you, I am so sorry to hear. There is nothing worse than losing a child. My heart goes out to you. Jeanne in Manhattan

  • May rest in peace. The holocaust never again.Such a sad history

  • Can't imagine how it must have felt for him :(

  • Otto Frank was an amazingly strong man. Such a sad story....

  • this book i read when i was 7 or 8 and it affected me enormously what a sad story tragedy , i agree a strong amazing man
