  • Wow marla ciley your husband. Is a brilliant speaker

  • Flyladies. Husband shouldspeak more

  • It took hubby and I 3 years to pay off $7,000 in credit card debt. We now have a ZERO balance!

  • I recognize a magic ritual when I see it! the people who participated in this "funeral" are going to stay debt-free for a long time, maybe forever. Such is the power of ritual.

  • So many people who don't have much money are spending tens of thousands of dollars on interest without even realizing it.

  • "A powerful servant and a fearful master..." Ain't that the truth!!

  • Awesome!

  • Delightful idea! Thanks for this video....helps me keep my sense of humor while working towards the goal of closing the credit cards I have accumulated!

  • Your honor, bless you for not only supporting your lovely wife, who supports so many of us; but also for having the wisdom and the humor to help us see the "truth in advertising." You can have the headstone you mentioned all to yourself, may it take 100 years or more.

  • This is a funny, and brilliant look at a major problem for many people.

Thanks for the humor and the great speech by the judge - tools for greed and impatience.

    Excellent fun job!

  • I would like to see a funeral for my mortgage

  • Surely the one hilarious funeral I have seen in these lo, five-plus decades! An Oscar for Judge Cilley, who was utterly magnificent in this somber 'n' sober role.

  • We have learned the hard way, I feel worse that it has to effect the children, if It was just Hubby and Me it would not be so bad, we would live with the hard lesson. No more credit cards and we are working hard to get out of debt. It will go faster when I find a job. Thanks for the video, I will check out the book too!

  • This wonderful video brought tears to my eyes and laughter to my heart. It made my soul rise with hope and happiness. God bless all involved.

  • good riddance!

  • i need a credit card to become a mem on runescape and on toontown

  • Great video...thanks for posting!

No Debt = (More Sleep + Greater Happiness) - Fewer Financial Worries. For the things that *truly* matter, MC/Visa is irrelevant.

  • Brilliant! And so true...my hubby and I vowed well before our wedding 2 years ago that we'd live without credit cards.

  • i need a credit dard to become mem on runescape :(

  • i must say there should be a play for this like they to diffrent town having a CCF this. i know i would show up who wouldnt!

  • Nice vid. Thanks for sharing.

  • Judge Cilley, although speaking "ad lib", was closer to speaking the real truth about the devil's work than the filmed participants (and you readers) are inclined to believe, or acknowledge. Think about it. Brilliantly done and scarily thought-provoking....to those who have ears to hear.

  • well said, northol...

  • Brillian Pam. Good luck with the book.

    Cheers

    SuhaNZ

  • That was awesome. We finished Financial Freedom w/Jim Sammons a few months ago and the lighthearted touch was nice. Just remember-20% discount on all items when you pay w/ cash. =)

  • Little cheesy, lol.. BUT - a very, very valid point.

  • that's great, I'm glad that I don't have that monkey. I use my card (singular) for the points and always pay it off. But I've seen the problems these things can cause.

  • Dave Ramsey would be proud.

  • Unfortunately, you've bought into the multi-billion dollar PR and Marketing campaigns that the credit industry pushes. Fact is that most people don't pay off monthly. Fact is that the average person has $8,000 in credit card balances. Fact: you pretty much only need a FICO score in order to borrow more money. The people in this video have committed to no longer carry debt. Debt is not a "tool," it is a monkey on your back. The sooner you realize it, the sooner you'll be free.

  • Well, here in Europe your credit card debt is automaticaly drawn in from a bank account at the end of each month, which is probably a better system.

However if people get into troube because they do not pay back their debt, it is their own fault. You can not blame credit card companies because they give people the possibility (= not compulsory) to borrow money.

  • As a European who knows from experience (just paid off my card in monthly instalments) I can tell you you are mistaken about the system being all that different.

I take full responsibility from my spending, but it is true that it is all too easy to be lured into spending, every time the balance on my credit card got higher the company gave me more spending room without asking me if I wanted it first. That seems like encouraging people to make unwise decisions with their money to me.

  • why on earth do you need a credit score at ALL if you intend to pay for everything with CASH (or DEBIT card)...INCLUDING your mortgage. You don't need everything RIGHT NOW and that includes your house. Save cash for an emergency fund then PAY cash for everything else. "The Total Money Makeover" By Dave Ramsey explains it all

  • Point well made with great humor!

  • that was brilliant. Y'all must have really enjoyed doing that. I love Pam Young!

  • That was amazing.

  • The music made it hi-larious! Congrats Robert on your retirement.

  • Annie, you must be a Firefly fan! :)
