  • *__*

  • it is the best performance of the song ever!

  • Woah.

    Coil doing... woah. Holy shit.

    Favorited SO HARD.

  • He's quiet now.

  • such a great great loss, both of them.coil is no more.

  • Sounds like you understood my comment/s fine & dandy see also someone elses comment about P C reimbursing you from the otherside. Hilarious!.

  • What a touchingly beautiful and yet... tenderly sinister performance.

  • THE BEAUTYFULL AND FABULOUS ANNA VARNEY CANTODEA WATCHED THIS VIDEO!!

  • COIL covering CURRENT 93. I came.

  • @93riven It's acually a traditional song that's said to have originated in the days of slavery. It's got a rather sad yet interesting story behind it, and I suggest you read about it some time. It will provide some insight as to the meaning behind this lullaby. Good day! :)

  • The Dreamer is Still Asleep R.I.P Peter. X

  • Can't believe some bell end approx 6 months ago lamenting on Jhon's passing I min . Winging he never got his record on clear vinyl the next!!. FUCK OFF YOU BELL END!!. Have a bit of decorum when you've learnt that get a life. This TIT has gotta be a American.

  • @MrPabz9

in all fairness we yanks aren't the only ones that act in a repulsive manner on these boards. but i can't lie and say that i don't know exactly what you meant by that statement.

  • Be careful what you wish for...

  • "Be quiet, Peter." :(

  • When i heard their record "Horse Rotorvator" the first time, I was fascinated. Still lie them... Missing Peter!

  • Pretty Marimba... I can play the Marimba and Piano so I think I'll learn this song. Or maybe on the French Horn.... Regardless.... It's beautiful... Rest in peace, Peter....

  • R.I.P Sleazy :(

  • Though I love Coil really much their live perfomances still look awkward and somewhat funny to me.

  • words cannot express.

  • ♥_♥

  • Jeeze, I like Coil, and I'm sure most of you do too, but how about you cutdown on the "I'm glad SOME people still like REAL music" kind of talk. It makes Coil fans look like douche bags. When it comes to radio and the general lameness of modern popular music just silently roll your eyes and move one.

  • @dsandwhich00 well said kind sir.

  • to be honest I just discovered this band because of trent reznor's new project named after their first EP, and I really like um

  • He had the voice of an angel

  • I Prefer The Original Version By Laura Gibson. This Isn't As Nice.

  • @Moosterification Actually, the composer of the song is unknown, as this is a very old traditional lullaby from back in the days of slavery.

  • After one of the members fell down the stairs, the remaining members claimed that the act has been disbanded? I thought that was well near the end of 2004...if this is true, then coil still owes me a copy of "time machines" vynal in clear wax i purchased right before this happened.

the so n so was busy shipping out that record he wouldnt be busy dying from a broken neck dwn a staircase...

You owe me coil! you owe me! that was $200 usd!

  • @TheTriklook

you know so little about them that you refer to jhonn as "onne of the members" but you paid $200 for a record? bringing money up here is truly disgusting. perhaps peter will paypal you a refund from beyond the grave you vile cunt.

  • Oh wow, my dad used to sing the original song to me as a lullaby before I went to bed. So this is a pretty strange expirience for me...

  • john's voice was so... haunting

  • Lucky the one that saw them live. RIP John

  • Julia Dream by Pink Floyd (this one's for you, Fuji).

  • Although I stupidly took them for granted (on rare occasions), there is none better. Even the "dated" material is superior to any electro-creeps' crap, then and now. They were real.

  • Colour Sound Oblivion!+rip jb+!

  • awsome

  • This is from La Locomotive, Paris, in 2004. Fantastic.

  • I feel special, like a chosen one, since i saw COIL in Oslo ..in 2005 i think, a performance i'll never forget. Very intence and strong. He (Jhonn) had no beard then, that came right after the Oslo-gig i've been told.

So, like sooo many other followers, i was, mildly spoken, shocked when the news about Jhonns way too early departure reached me. I will always have a place in my hollow chest for you, Jhonn. Though you never knew i existed. R.I.P. Coils music lives on.

  • beautiful voice

  • que vos y sentimieno que emana balance dan ganas de ir a saludarlo al inferno

  • no seas baboso , este donde este no lo encontraras ahi .

  • "be quiet peter" :)

  • What a morose, wonderful sound. I gotta like this.

  • poor little thing is crying mammy

  • WOW

  • warhammer online

  • I'm glad to see most of you seem to like Coil as much as I do. It's nice to know people still listen to music that means something other than musicians & business men who push commercial shit & the convention line of thought.

  • Amen! Music like this....like Autechre...Boards of canada....will never go unsung!!

Music to the masses is wallpaper

music to us is life's blood

  • I know what you're talking about! Music has really lost meaning these days. They just through a bunch of lines about money, girls, and getting drunk and bam! They have a #1 song on the radio. I don't think that's talent. Music like Coil, and Taylor Swift and them, THEY have talent!

  • taylor swift? talent? pfft. no way, coil? definitely.

  • haha, yeah, what is going on with popular music nowadays?

  • lol no idea, but it's turning to shit for the most part.

  • Amen!

  • @sevenleggedinsect I always knew I am not alone but still it`s good to read such a thing

  • @sevenleggedinsect sure sure music shouden't be for entertaining it shoud be art all the time!!!

  • I worship coil and anything jhon balance ever did. thank you for posting.

  • Is Balance really dead or is that picture on wikipedia a fucking joke. I sincerely cannot tell.

  • He's really dead.

  • Ballance is the god!!

i believe he is still alive!!

  • merely magnificent...

  • DIVINA

  • oh, all the pretty little horses...such a lovely folk song

    love all the versions

  • Was just listening to All the Pretty Little Horses . . . and to some Coil . . . wasn't expecting to find a combination! Lovely cover.

  • Perry's voice can grate, but i can never get enough of 'Xavier', from "Within the Realm of a Dying Sun" (blows Gerrarde to the dust on that LP, IMO).

Most toe curling of DCD, tho, is the New Agey, Hippy, Non-specifity of their take on their songs/life... Am I the only one who finds Gerrade's constant gushings in interviews at odds with 'The Wind That Shakes the Barley', and what it means to others (...i.e. REAL life! Politics, dammit!! ) ... As privalaged as I was to hear it in the flesh...

  • This is not Brendan Perry of DCD. This is the late Jhon Balance of Coil. They may look alike with the beard.

In terms of Lisa Gerrard's esoteric meanderings, they fit the persona. I don't expect political activism when I listen to DCD, just escape.

  • Geff once sent me a 5 page letter written in his own blood whilst he was still at public school! BTW DR.Phucker, a few of us ex-clockdva members have a new project called shadowranglers, find us on myspace.

  • Good, but I prefer the original lyrics.

    Bees and butterflies

    Pickin' out it's eyes

    Poor little thing's cryin' mammy

  • It was David Tibet who changed the lyrics from the old American folk song(From "Picking out" to "Flitter round".) JB is just singing the current93/Nick Cave version.

  • I saw them three times. they did some of the most intensive performances that I ever seen. COIL forever in my heart, they never die..

  • Would you believe it?! I'm 42, gay and "post-punk", and I only recently discovered Coil. Even though some of my friends for years tried to convince me, I just never really did cope with Jhonn's voice. Sorta like with the guy from DCD. But now, amazingly, I've sorted it out! After I watched their cover version of Tainted Love, I can't get enough of that 'Ian Curtis'que' voice. I feel there's a whole catalogue with Coil waiting for me. I started with Horse Rotorvator on Discogs...where will I end?

  • The Ape of Napples Sr. but you should listen Hellraiser's soundtrack by coil

  • You into Current 93 too?

  • I'm in my thirties, straight, and have been into all this shit for years. I know what you mean about Dead Can Dance. I can't deal with that voice, either, although I thought Buried Dreams was a very fine album.

  • Damn, Lucky you! ;) I feel I've missed a lot with Coil. For example their concert here in Copenhagen back in 2001. But I'll be at the Soisong (Sleazy's new shit) gig, tomorrow, here in Copenhagen at the Culture Box. Can you beat that? ;)

  • Pardon me. I meant "The Serpent's Egg." "Buried Dreams" is a Clock DVA album. I'm all turned around today.

  • Yep, "The Serpent's Egg" is fine. Funny enough my favourite track is "Severance", with "that voice"!! Goes to show you can learn to cope with some music! Another fav with DCD for me, must be their "Into The Labyrinth" album. But again..."that voice!" ;)

  • I'm assuming that you are referring to Brendan Perry's voice, which does grind on me a bit. But I love those songs with Lisa Gerrard singing.

  • Exactly Brendan Perry, that's his name. BTW, which is your favourite Coil album/track? Lately I'm digging the "Black Antlers" album and the tracks "Are You Shivering?" and "Heaven's Blade"....But could go on for hours dropping titles of grand tracks. A bit hard to always clearly hear the lyrics though, don't you think? Well, maybe it's also because English isn't my first language!

  • Well, Coil has always been a hit-and-miss with me. That's probably because I prefer more aggressive music. That being said, my favorite Coil album has always been Horse Rotorvator, and my favorite track is the opening song, Anal Staircase. That's what I call a fuck song from hell!

  • Ah yes, The Anal Staircase, a classic! BTW, isn't that "Le Sacre Du Printemps" by Igor Stravinsky I hear as the intro to that track?

  • hermosa y dulce

  • Love it. RIP John balance. Also so good to see a vid with not many negative comments (and the ones who did comment crap didn't get a war declared on them. See, sometimes people can get along :) :) xx

  • if you have to ask, youll never know

  • I sung this in chorus

  • Im singin this song in chorus :)

  • What Kind of Animal Are You?

  • what?

  • xylophone notes anyone? =) would be great.

  • great.

  • love love

  • all that is good is in da song...

  • love & peace

  • oh, Jhonn..

  • i love you jhonn!

  • so lovely
