  • In Phuket, they will stand on the horn any chance they get, speed, pass on city streets over a double yellow line, even the really large buses do this when they have no visibility, expect you to get out of the way even if you are walking. There is something strange going on here, it is as though Thai's feel a sense of empowerment about getting behind the wheel of a car. I thought island life was kick back, not here.

  • Two tablespoons of fish sauce? I wish. Here in Phuket they put like a whole cup of it and it drives me crazy! Even when you have your Thai girlfriend tell them not to put that much they do it anyway. It makes all the veggies lose that snappy, crunchiness that makes the dish. I like to chew my som tam, not drink it. BTW, Phuket has the most inconsiderate drivers in the world!

  • As an american who has lived in Thailand for the last few years I have begun to make mine at my room because Thai's seem to enjoy not following my instructions. I do not like mine with too much fish sauce. They put so much that the vegetables get soaked and it ruins it totally. It's like eating soggy French toast if you know what I mean. BTW, Phuket has the most rude and disrespectful driver's in the world.

  • I will definitely use this as a snack, appetizer, and a salad - ALL AT ONCE. Good video :D

  • MMMM........Phom hew Kao. Ka aroy jing jing. Ahan Thai di mak mak.!!!

  • Your video is very professional!. well done. My wife is 'unfortunately' vegetarian. So instead of fish sauce what do you recommend?

  • @takal046 light soy sauce, but you won't get the same "thai" taste. it helps as a substitute thou.

  • this is a good video of how to make the papaya salad but i feel like there is more to it;;

  • My favourite!

  • Your English accent is easy for both Thais and native speakers to understand.

  • thank u, for showing this, now i know how to make it, for the people they are thinking you are better or not appreciate it why dont you make the video and show it with your ways.

  • no msg and pa dak. damn than that aint no papaya salad

  • AGREE!!!

gotta have pa dak and msg, also...

    tamarind and crab paste.

but i guess maybe this is thai style, light dressing and simple.

  • what no PA' DAK?????

  • I think this is the same way as the thai traditional style. For more another ingredients is also call som tum .

There are more than one kind of som tum inThailand.

  • i am thai and I am telling you this is the way of making Thai Papaya Salad ( Som Tam Thai)

  • u can also make this with cucumber or mango, it tastes just as good :P

  • my mouth is watery now. lol

  • the way she does it....is it the traditional dish? it looks kind of plain....i like the ones today because it has alot more ingredients to it....like tamarind, crab paste, and shrimp paste.....etc.....

  • i think everyone have different styles and ways to make papaya salad. also, i like "present" papaya salad too, it was tasty. besides, i usually bought it at hmong tourneys or make my own at hmong store.

  • where do you live?

if in st. paul, the best papaya salad is found inside the flea market on Como Ave. the mini stand by the left corner of the entrance pathway makes it best. also, try Oriental Ocean Stars located on corner of Minnehaha and Dale. they also have good papaya.

  • I live in wisconsin but someday, i will visit my aunt in St.Paul and I will try it! :D Thanks!

  • Looks great, thanks

  • This is TRADITIONALLY a LAOTIAN dish. not Thai

  • you're a really good cook !
