are you going to some special triner or something? I have no idea how to get into marathons. Do they have a website ro soemthing? and also how old do you have to be to run marathons or half marathons?
I am training on my own. There are many websites on how to run marathons and various marathons near you. A good beginner site is coolrunning just google it or read Hal Higdons site. I don't know of any age restrictions as a 13 yo ran an ultra last year but I would wait until you are finished growing. Personally I think half marathons are safe as long as you can do the distance.
I agree about the Garmin. It is absolutely needed, and you deserve it after starting running. How do you like the touch face? I didn't get the hang of it while demoing at the store.
I haven't had any issues with it to be honest. I made it less sensitive at first but I'm about to bump that up as I get frustrated with waiting for it to sense my touch and I stopped accidentally bumping it a week or so ago. I think it's really intuitive and most of the people complaining are just used to the old ones and not approaching it like a completely new do-hicky
That is so exciting... I am still in my off phase of fun running -- tomorrow's half is just an easy 9:55 pace run. I got to meet at least two of the people who will be starting with me today at the Expo.
Sorry about Strawberry-kiwi flavor...
I found another brand called Replenish (Big Lots carries it, so it might be clearance item), but it is the saltiest drink of the one's I have tried. It's also SF without the maltodextrin (starch) of Optima. That was my drink for the QC Marathon.
Have you tried the lemonaid flavor? OMG! Heaven in earth. Pure heaven! What I really like about the drink is when I use it I feel more hydrated than with some of the other drinks even when they have more salt. I think the balance in the Optima must be just right or something. I'll take a look at the replenish and some others though.
so inspiring! nice to see other black women running! keep it up!
