I have a stack of Auto Exposure Bracket photos that look like crap when I run them through the CS5 HDR script. I'm going to give this faux-ND Grad thing a shot...
this is a far more tedious way to do it. three bracketed ev raw shots combined in the cs5 plugin gives better quality and more variables for composition
How do i add a layer that has a picture while i got the background layer also ? Sorry for stupid question im new at this. Would be thankful for answer
im using photoshop 7.0 and i tried following your steps but i cant select both layers it wont allow me to align the two photos also when you use the brush to bring out more of the sky i can get that either it paints the photo black need help
@quatermile79 I'm using CS5, not all the features in CS5 are available in older version of PS. Make sure the layer mask is selected and not the layer when you paint with the black paint brush
Great tutorial on improving your landscapes and he didn't try to sell any software old-school school you can do it yourself would highly recommend watching this tutorial thanks for your help . Keep up the good work thanks dude
I got canon 60d and new on photography world, just wanna ask how did you make it dark and bright? What are the settings that you use? It would be a big help if learnd it from you... Thanks in advance!
I don't know which Photoshop version implemented this feature but Photoshop already has its own HDR option where you can select the different exposures und Photoshop will mask it out on its own..
Good vid. I hear there is a plug-in for Lightroom 3. I need to find out how to do it without PS. I don't have it (yet) and don't even want to go there. I could "download" it.....I want some other software options if you know of any. Thanks
this is just an idea, but i think you should upload your images to the description so people can follow it exactly cause im very new to photography and im saving up for my first camera so i cant yet to landscape shots like this, but i still lke the outcome, so i wouldnt mind being able to do the same thing you just did on the same image...
@PhotoExtremist wow, no offence but i didt really think you would reply let alone this fast, but cheers, im new to photography im saving up for a canon eos 1000d and im like a 1/3 of the way to the actual price
I set my metering mode to spot, now when I look through the viewfinder I don't see a box. Should all DSLRS have it?
jaredjds2011 1 day ago
@jaredjds2011 There is a setting where it turns off the box and just focuses on the closest subject to the lens - make sure that is off.

This is a helpful tutorial for a quick HDR, but.....how do you have your camera set? Automatic or manual? Shutter speed & aperture? Thanks, bro!
GorgingonGuts 6 months ago
@GorgingonGuts Use Aperture Priority mode and then the camera will automatically adjust the shutter speed to where the box is accordingly
