Went to a masterclass at the Yehudi Menuhin school yesterday and met Heinrich Schiff.... what an absolute legend! His humour was hilarious, impressive playing and just boundless optimism :D Unimaginably amazing!

I went to his performance of Mahler's Symphony of a Thousand at the RAH in the 80s, and I have never recovered since, OMG the climax at the end, it was spine shattering. and wow the increased brass + organ. The audience were clearly impressed with this performance, so many standing up, stamping their feet, and the shouts of more more and more were allmost deafening, it was almost pandemonium. If you ever read this Mr Shipway I hope you do this work again, forget the rest this was the best.

I agree. I think he's wonderful. I wish his recordings of the Haydn concertos were on here.

More cellists need to be familiar with H. Schiff-truly one of the great contemporary cellists.

Absolutely phenomenal cellist and a truly incredible orchestra. The camera work is really great about catching the orchestra at the right time and showing what a great job they do. Thanks for sharing.
