The animation distracts heavily from the point they're trying to make. You don't have to put a picture of every fifth word spoken. Especially a picture that doesn't even fit contextually. /facepalm
never. EVER. EVER! Pay for power. Jesus Christ, I can't tell you how many games break this law and how fast I uninstall them. Any game that lets people buy items that are better than what a normal player can obtain is criminal, and it creates a gap in the community. Players who buy their way to power are going to act like elite pricks who look down on the people who have to work at it. Even in games where there's no buying power this exists, but it's terrifying in games that do.
@ORCA4312 I can live with faster leveling. I don't like it and I'll hate anyone who uses it to get an upperhand, but the company needs to make money somehow, so if they make it easier to play for money, then fine. But making the game unbalanced by giving people better gear by buying it while the rest of us can't? Let me explain something to anyone who doubts this: Imagine pokemon black and white without wi-fi. NO dream world pokemon, no metagame, just the offline content. Not all that fun..
I play AeriaGames myself, which is a Free-2-Play publisher, which does just as is suggested to do when operating F2P games. Our only community problem is that it seems we have many "millionaires" that like to dump tons of money into game credits lol there-by throwing off game balances, then they whine and complain about having nothing to do......lol what you expect when you take out a second mortgage to speed up your game by 3 years. That's your stupidity.
Jesus Christ, this episode of Extra Credits almost gives me an aneurysm every time someone brings it up. The monocle is not only an entirely cosmetic item which is simply a status symbol. it is also ENTIRELY possible to earn the currency to buy the monocle, and far more impressive, to pay for your subscription by playing the game. There is no need to pay a single penny for EVE after your first month of subscription. So well done to Extra Credits, for getting on an ill-informed high-horse.
@sihylm0 The real world price was still ridiculously high even if it is optional and a piece of clothing isn't that much of a status symbol in gaming. In my experience a players level and achievements ae much more recognised as a symbol of status. A high level players gear simply compliments that at best. Also, the E.V.E Community rebelled against the high prices, costing E.V.E money so eithe way I would not call this a good move on CCP's part :P.
Anyone thinking Spiral Knights during any of this? OOO, take notes.

They ALL SELL POWER eventually.
RMTs DO DIVIDE the community.
You are right about players being content in MMOs.

@AramanthOfMari Agreed, even faster leveling is a kind of selling power.
It also divides the community.
