Besides, Hitachi and some other brand name elevator, other elevator manufactured in Asia include Fujitec, Toshiba, Misubushi, in addition to Schindler, Kone, Otis, etc.
If you're going to Guangzhou, have a visit to the White Swan Hotel or the smaller New Asia Hotel. Once I had a stay in the latter with my family on a relative visit. As we rode the elevator I found it out to be a Mitsubishi instead of an old local New Chinese product as expected!
It seems that from watching Vincent561967's videos that most every elevator over in that area only uses bumpers. I wonder why? Very nice elevator by the way.
The choice between bumpers and sensors (or both) are based on the age and design of the individual elevator, and most importantly the orders of the clients. In Hong Kong newer elevator models utilize more sensors but bumpers are sometimes also present as a secondary safety fitting.

Have you ridden a Mitsubishi elevator yet?

I have. The mall elevators at Westfield Topanga are Mitsubishi. We have a Sony and Mitsubishi TV.

There are many elevators in America that have bumpers, too.

I've seen more elevators in Europe with sensors to be honest. Even my school's creepy elevator has sensors. =D
