  • @ericplloyd . Yes it can. The hard part is getting it set-up in high winds.

  • The VE-25 is a lighter tent. More compact and easier to transport in rough conditions.

The VE-35 is a larger tent same design. It took me between, 20 to 25 min. to set up with the fly in 3o mph winds. Compared to the Mountain Hardwear EV2/EV3 which is lighter and set-up time is about 12 min. in high wind condition. But keep in mind the EV2/EV3 are single wall 4 season tents.

    I hope this is helpful.

  • @4zmusic Very helpful, thank you! I looked at the EV3, But ive always seems to have a bigger issue with moisture and rain with single walls. Anyway, great Video. I love Mt. Hood.

  • How does this model compare to the "ve- 25"?

  • How long does it take to set up?

  • @janplexy

With a rain fly. Anywhere from 18 to 25 minutes. Depending on conditions.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • It was a special day. Happy Birthday!

  • this was filmed on my birthday :)

  • Crazy question maybe but would this tent be suitable for camping in a warmer climate like Spain/Portugal for example or just for hellish conditions like this?! Like 0 to 15 Celsius, 32-59 Fahrenheit?!

    Cheers

  • @idiotzrule Good question: This tent without the rain fly would be fine in warmer and dryer conditions, besides you would have less weight to carry, if you choose to leave the rain fly behind. Just check the weather forecast to make sure you will have no rain.

  • @4zmusic Hi there, thanks for the reply. I will be taking the lot with me as it will be packed up on my motorbike but what I should have also asked is how do you think it would fair in hot climates as I plan to ride south over into Morocco through the Sahara desert on into Dakar in Senegal. Although I do not plan to camp apart from in Spain/Portugal you never know what might happen on route or where I may be forced to sleep due to breakdown etc.

    Cheers dude =]

  • @idiotzrule . I think it would do just fine in hot weather. It may get warm inside. The NF Mountain 25 would be lighter. Also check out Mountain Hardwears tents. Hope this was helpful

Special Note. The NF now make a single wall tent that may just want you are looking for. Not sure of the name and model#

  • @4zmusic Yea I looked at all the NF tent but I don't really know much about tents so its hard to guess what is good or not.

I actually emailed NF a few days before I messaged you but I haven't had a response =[

Thanks for all your help dude =]

  • @idiotzrule Here it the lname to that New NF single wall tent. It's a 3 season tent. Where as the NF M25/35 are 4 season tents.

    NorthFace sputnik-2-tent.

  • @4zmusic Yep, looks good man. Thanks for the info, cheers.

  • The name of that NF tent is the Sputnik 2. It's a 3 season tent. The NF M25/35 are 4 season tents.

    peace-out.

  • Good investment. You should post a vid of the tent in the field. It would be fun to watch.

    Cheers

  • Hi, I purchased TNF Mountain 35.

    Great music in the clip.

Where can I find that music?

    Greetz.

    Hans

  • Great video. Glad to see you have now purchased a TNF tent. I have a mountain 25 and prefer it over my Trango 2 !

  • @TOMHEANEY100 . Good to hear from you. Thanks it's a great tent. I've had it a while, but the weather has never cleared until a week ago so I took it for a test run.

In high winds it takes a little longer to set up than the Mountain Hardwear EV2 or EV3, ( if you are putting on the rain fly). Set up times EV2 10 to 12 minutes. NF Mountain 35 with RF, 19 to 23 minutes.

  • Thanks for sending the CD! It's awesome. Very diverse and inspired music. I'm going hiking with my buddies this weekend and we'll be listening to it on the way to the mountains. It will set the mood nicely.

    Best wishes,

    Dan

  • Thanks been looking at this item for my backpack. No Foot Print ?

  • @HighValueWarrior . TNF makes footprints for most of their tents. Since most of my trips are on snow (no sharp objects) a footprint was not required for my needs. If you camp a lot on a rough surface. I would recommend a footprint. peace

  • Winds were about 25 to 35 mph. Heat retention was pretty good. It got down to around 25 outside or so. Inside the tent it was around 40. It was a solo trip, so the more you can fit in the tent th better. No condensation what so ever.

    Honestly Mountain Hardwear EV2/EV3:

is my opinion is the champion of heat retention and ease of set-up during high winds. Possibly the best Tent built in the last 20 years.

The NF Mountain 35 is a great tent but if I doing a solo climb the EV2 is what I

    prefer.
