So, this issue brings up a lot of questions: should children learn about everything that they WANT to learn about? Should parents lie to their children to avoid giving straight answers or give half-truths? Do we underestimate how much information a child can handle? Is it okay to teach about reproduction as long as you also teach about values? If you don't tell your children the truth, will they find the "answer" from someone or something else that would also teach bad values? It's not simple.
I was so confused as to why this was 'rude' and 'inappropriate' and now I blush very badly when even a bottom is mentioned! I'm not arguing with your choice, but i am just saying that I personally think that a 6 year old might not be able to cope with their unique knowledge :D She is cute btw...
I Learnt this at 8 and that affected my life in quite a big way! i understand that all kids are different and their education is partially about them being ready, but with kids like me, when my friend (she was nine years old) asked what a 'willy' was my teacher simply replied it where wee comes from so-being 8 i told her and the class that it was also used for making babies and before my teacher could stop me, i repeated everything my mum told me about sex and got double detention!
WTF this kid can't talk properly but already knows this? I didn't even think of such thing at the age of 10. Parents should be extremely ashamed of themselves.
I dont think you have done anything wrong as a parent. Do not listen to the negative people. You have a very smart daughter for her age and telling her as it is, is better than letting her live in a fairy tale world.
It is good that she knows at an warly age. Many pll think its wrong but i think its wrobg for them not to know. Why are ppl freakib out about this, she was gonnah find out anyway! Good parenting
this is so cruel havin a six yr old telling YouTube how to have kids. when I was six, that stuff didn't even cross my mind for a split second so her parents must have told her to say this. it's bad enough ten yr olds knowing but 6?! sad people...0_0
@Shazza9500 No, I did not coach my daughter and tell her what to say. Your parents did you a disservice by NOT educating you at an early age about the natural and normal process of reproduction. The mentality of "Let's put our kids in a bubble and prevent them from understanding the world" is detrimental! Did your parents simply dance around the subject or ignore it? Did they lie and make up a story about a stork? Now THAT is sad.
I did not know this shit till I was like 15 and here I am listening to this six year old girl talking about How babies are made she put in good detail though have to give her that but still that's wrong to teach your six year old that go with the old Jesus puts it in the female body thing not the whole 9 yards
@BaNN3DF0RL1F3 There's something seriously wrong with the fact that you didn't learn this until you were 15. Judging by your grammar and lack of punctuation you missed out on some other important education as well. You actually think I should have withheld teaching my daughter the truth and instead filled her brain with fictitious nonsense about Jesus? Are you kidding me?!! God, I really hope you don't have kids.
im not saying its bad that she knows about all this but HOW does she know? you know shes only six right? i think its a little to young for her to know about that and i do understand about raising kids and you have to be honest with them but i still say you should wait a while till there like 12 or something instead of letting them know all that so early.
i thought this was gonna be a cute video about diamonds and storks in the pumpkin patch but then she starts talking about sperm and eggs and stuff like that!
I think it good that u teach your kid now about how babies are born and not some old stork story tell your child the truth at a young age so that way when the child gets older they will understand what sex is and how u do it !!! oh and by the way i really like the way she uses dominoes instead of dolls she has a very creative imagation !! oh and ps i thin that she is really is is really pretty and smart for a girl her age !!
I am so pleased to actually see a child tell it like it is, instead of some made-up explanations that belong back in the olden days. :) There is NOTHING wrong with the truth!
Welllll, son first your mother and i got together on facebook and set up a date via email. we met up at myspace and she agreed to download data from my pen drive, but right when i was about to transfer we realized that none of us had installed a firewall. it was too late to hit delete so nine months later a pop up window appeared saying
@LittleMissLativa ....I think you're poorly informed about how sexual maturation works. You cannot have a child until your body is sexually mature enough to. For girls, they are capable of having children after they get their period. I see your parents didn't explain this kind of thing to you.
i was extremely pleased when i found this video. my daughter will be eight soon and i've been trying to find a way to explain it to her. i'd rather she know the facts from me, than learn the vulgar things her peers may tell her. if you have any advice to lend me on how to go about explaining it to her, or maybe even some books that could help me, i would really appreciate that. and for everyone else complaining she knows too much, its closed mindedness that makes our children learn the WRONG way
@MorbidMisfits It's wonderful that you want to be open and honest with your daughter early on. Hayley's father and I believe in teaching our kids from the beginning--as soon as they're ready to understand (which is usually before most people think). We are always open, honest and frank with them. We have discussions about anything and everything regularly. Anytime any of them has a question or concern, we address it. We value education and teaching kids not WHAT to think, but HOW to think.
@MorbidMisfits There is NO such thing as knowing too much. You are absolutely right--closed mindedness is detrimental to children's learning, as is the tendency for parents to shelter them. I'm sorry--I don't have any books to recommend.
@bubbaj232 do people like littlemisslativa think children that grow up in rural areas and maybe even on a small farm where animals mate have been exposed to animal porn? Goodness gracious! What is wri=ong with people?
I like this. It's refreshing to see parents who aren't sheltering their kids. It's the facts and it's a part of life, not something taboo that has to be repressed from an early age. This is adorable, and she's really bright. ((:
Wow people calm down, it's excellent that she's comfortable already to talk about this with her mother, she's educated. this is disturbing that a six year old knows this shit. girls have vaginas, boys have penises, thats all you need to know for now. how could anyone feel comfortable that their daughter knows that the "penis goes in the vagina". wtf?
@dumdum212 What is disturbing is that parents don't talk to their children and explain and discuss the important (or less important) things early on. Then kids hear about things in a less desirable environment or from less desirable or safe sources, or they learn things incorrectly. Raising kids in a bubble is a HUGE mistake, and definitely a disservice to them. Sex should not be something to be embarrassed about. It should not be taboo. It's a normal and natural part of life.
@kirstendanley you make a good point, i would much rather my kid come to me rather than learn it from friends or online, or even sex ed class.
