Yes Tarja had a more operatic voice bla bla bla and yes it was very good, but in my opinion, Annette brings much more power to this song, she expresses the emotions of it more with the power in her voice rather than just singing it in a way to show off her voice. I like her version.
Obviously, this video doesn't show to the full extent what Annette's voice brings to the song because the quality of the recording is not very good, so people who are judging her on this video are being rather unfair.

Well the old songs are hard for a non-classical singer to sing. Actually, if you dont even have a large range, it'll be hard for ANYONE! ESPECIALLY the old ballads.

You say that because she was the original and although Tarja's voice is the archetype for all of Nightwish's vocal catalogue. I believe that Annette's voice suits Nightwish perfectly and brings a new fresh sound.

Estas equivocado, Tuomas es uno mas de la banda, si hubiera otro en su lugar daria lo mismo, Tarja le dio identidad a la banda, Annete canta bien pero no es para Nightwish es mas para una banda pop, no tiene el carisma ni la voz para interpretar los temas como lo hace Tarja.
Se nota que no sabes mucho de Nightwish. Tuomas es el que hace casi toda la musica, y es el único que escribe las liricas. Sin Tuomas, Nightwish no existe. Mira, Tuomas hace todas las letras, todas. Eso se ha mencionado en varias entrevistas. Y como ya dije, casi toda la musica la compuso él. Como el 90%. No cuesta nada buscar esa información en internet, deberias hacerlo.

Annette has no presence, shes so..medium. wheres the evilness? the spice? she has good voice, thats for sure, but this is one of the songs she shouldnt sing. first of all at the high points she seems to be in suffering...

Kill me, but I understand why Tuomas chose her with this song, she adds some personality to the song, almost like a sweet melody, and I liked her change of tone in some notes...

Why do you even exist? It wasn't Tarja that was Nightwish's key to success, BUT, she was a part of it. And Anette has got that part now, and they are still as famous and good as before. Ohhh, how disappointing...Annette can't hit the high notes Tarja did with this song, especially in the chorus. She still does sound pretty good, though. She doesn't have Tarja's range or grace, but she brings her own attitude to the band, and to me it works. Say what you want, but I find appeal with both Tarja and Annette.

Annette's voice doesn't carry as much power and force as Tarja's did in the old songs (including this one), it's true, but she is a very talented singer in her own right. Plus, people fail to remember the fact that the guys are still playing like fucking Gods! Besides, Annette does such a good job in the new songs, I can't even imagine Tarja attempting those songs now, so I like both singers for different reasons.

Listen to new Tarja's songs. They are lifeless and cold. All energy was from Nightwish, but not Tarja herself. Anette's brought a second wind to the old NW songs.
I'm new to nightwish and she sounds and looks great. I am sure tarja was/is great but this girl is awesome too. Just another chapter in the evolution of a great band. It happens all the time.

how can you say she sings beautifully when she is obviously constantly falling off key... i don't hate the poor girl, it's not her fault. but if you notice, even the new songs, which we can't compare to tarja's, she can't sing live. there isn't one song where she doens't give me the creeps. she might be a great girl, but the little one has no metal vibe in her body whatsoever. she might be a great person but music isn't about that whatsoever.. stop denying the obvious.. sad but true.

Annette is different to tarja and its only your own opinion thats making her either better or worse. I personnelly prefer her to tarja mainly because her voice is easier to listen to.

Es cierto q Tarja no era NW (la esencia), pero era un miembro muy importante de la banda. 'cause all i've been seeing around me is they fan base shiffting into one of evanescence's nature. perhaps that's what they're looking for, making more popular music and gaining more money, which is honest, just not too honest to say tarja was a whore just into money when at least with her they could've preserved nightwish's own sound. either will be the same. lets make peace with that.

Se nota que no sabes mucho de Nightwish. Tuomas es el que hace casi toda la musica, y es el único que escribe las liricas. Sin Tuomas, Nightwish no existe. Y que es mas importante en una banda, la imagen o la musica en si? Y no, la vos de Anette no es pop solo porque no canta opera. Muchas bandas de heavy metal y rock en general tienen cantantes asi como Annette (que tiene una vos aguda y no alterada), y eso no los hace pop.

Mira, Tuomas hace todas las letras, todas. Eso se ha mencionado en varias entrevistas. Y como ya dije, casi toda la musica la compuso él. Como el 90%. Y eso lo puedes ver en los creditos de cada una de las canciones de los cds. Sale quien escribió la letra y quien compuso la música. No cuesta nada buscar esa información en internet, deberias hacerlo.

The only thing making nightwish different from other bands was tarja's voice.
Anyway, all tokyo hotel fans will be delighted by the new nightwish sound...so why would the quality of the music matter as long as the income are the same?

Ohhh, how disappointing...Annette can't hit the high notes Tarja did with this song, especially in the chorus. She still does sound pretty good, though. She doesn't have Tarja's range or grace, but she brings her own attitude to the band, and to me it works. Say what you want, but I find appeal with both Tarja and Annette.

Everybody has their own taste.But i prefered Tarja couse when im listening Anette singing live it reminds me on Britney Spears or other pop singers...And she gets a bit lost while singing, her voice goes up down and she doesnt sounds good live at 1 point. Annette's voice doesn't carry as much power and force as Tarja's did in the old songs (including this one), it's true, but she is a very talented singer in her own right. Plus, people fail to remember the fact that the guys are still playing like fucking Gods! Besides, Annette does such a good job in the new songs, I can't even imagine Tarja attempting those songs now, so I like both singers for different reasons.
