@video108video I agree. I'm new to buddhism (2009) so I don't understand praying to deity and many of the rituals make no sense to me. I left the christian religion because it makes no sense to me to worship or pray to something or someone that I cannot prove the existence of. I started studying buddhism because the teaching of Buddha bring me inner peace, happiness, and have literally changed my life for the better. I've discovered a deity isn't needed to achieve those things
I used to follow this devil. I spoke the truth about his evil nature on this supposedly unbiased website. I was deleted. Shugdenpa's fall into many categories: Ignorant Westernerns, Fake Lamas,Chinese Communist Agents, and Tibetans both ignorant and money hungry. I laugh at the Lamas who betray Tibet for a quick buck or should I say Yuan.
Due to negative karma and modern day need for quick fix, the ultimate practice for us is Dorje Shugden. He is the swiftest Dharma Protector for us and because of his efficacy, he will convince many to the Dharma. His time is coming when he will be very big and beneficial in our world.
Even HH Trijang Rinpoche in his previous incarnation has predicted that there will come a time when Dalai Lama and DS may seem to be in conflict, but he advised us then not to take sides or speak badly about either side as the truth will arise and become clear soon after.

The TRUTH about DorjeShugden is that he is an enlightened being, an emanation of the wisdom buddha Manjushri. And the truth of goodness and enlightened will always prevail, so whatever is being said now, don't be disheartened. Just look at what DS lamas are doing for dharma and the world right now - they are making the truth of Dorje Shugden shine, which is compassion and wisdom
I pray that all those involve in the DS movie or anyone creating awareness on DS live long, may their obstacles be eliminated and their goals be achieved swiftly for the benefit of all sentient beings!

In Tibetan Buddhism, keeping Guru samaya is most important for spiritual growth. DL gives instructions to practitioners to stop practicing a deity which has been propitiated for 300 plus years. To the point that monasteries split, families separated.
This deity, Dorje Shugden is the same nature as Je Tsongkhapa they are the same person performing different functions. Many Dorje Shugden sadhanas state that Dorje Shugden is the embodiment of the Guru, Yidam, and Protector, where Guru refers specifically to Lama Tsongkhapa.
Thus, many cannot accept what Dalai Lama is saying about DS n when there are so many evidence pointing to DS's enlightened nature.

i think it is definitely important to do your own research and find out about Dorje Shugden - who he is, his practice, the great Buddhist practitioners who have worshipped him.

Go read!! Fascinating. How can DS be sectarian if such a high Nyingma Lama would assist. May HH Penor Rinpoche incarnate quickly and benefit more beings.

Yes, I love the two recent stories of the humble High Nyingma Lama Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche accepting the photo of Panchen Rinpoche and the incredible generosity of Penor Rinpoche. They truly touch and inspire others with their great acts of compassion and generosity.

Yes, Dorje Shugden's time is at hand. What the Dalai Lama is doing is merely spreading him bigger and wider in the world. This ban will soon be a thing of the past and many will see the Dalai Lama's plan come to fruition within our very lifetimes. How beneficial and compassionate these beings are! Events like opening of Shar Ganden and proclamation of DS Practice by more high lamas could be an indication that the cleansing period is coming to an end. If we continue the stable efforts to practice Dharma sincerely and let more people know the benefits of DS, the time of our Great King will come quickly and we will have the good karma to see more people embrace him and practice Dharma for the benefit of all sentient beings.
When something very beneficial is to happen, many obstacles also arise. Perhaps all the drama and controversy that is happening is a form of cleansing of obstacles. Once all these obstacles are overcome, DS practice will flourish swiftly and smoothly. In the effort of overcoming these obstacles, sincere Dharma practitioners also get the chance to develop, stabilize and strengthen their minds so that they will contribute to the growth of Dharma.
How can Dorje Shugden be a threat to HHDL? In all trances by the oracles, never once has there been an unkind word or remark against HH. What does that tell us? How could he harm HH or any practitioner?
Dorje Shugden is really a new kid on the block of Protectors but it already making waves with the controversy. This is usually the case for a new practice or deity because the current problems reflect how immensely beneficial his practice will be in the future when it becomes mainstream.
If everyone gives up the practice, who would be at a loss? Would HHDL be blamed for putting an end to the practice? Would Tibet be lost forever? Would the Buddhist community be split? Which would be the greater loss?

I think the spies thing only applies if you are Tibetan. Dorje Shugden is a Buddha and he's Manjushri. One of his seat is Wu Tai Shan in China, so Dorje Shugden has close affinity with the Chinese. Which is more important? "Free Tibet" or a protector practice that will help people to practice & learn Je Tsongkhapa's tradition? I vote Je Tsongkhapa!
Many people have been hurt by DL's ban over a practice which has been held so dearly for over 350 years. HH Trijang Rinpoche (previous incarnation) has even written a volume of who Dorje Shugden is and told us that DL and DS will be at odds. However, practitioners are to be steadfast and not say anything bad towards DL. It is difficult because we are human beings with emotions and will react to what we observe. I do sincerely hope the ban will be lifted and practitioners can practice freely.
@TheDharmaKnight this is so funny! Yes, also, there is nothing in my sadhana that tells me to be rude to the dalai lama and protest against him. So why is it that people always automatically equate DS practitioners = chinese spy or bash the dalai lama? perhaps there's another equation that DS practitioners = wish to practice Dharma, full stop

wow that's a good point. I hadn't thought of that before. Also, DS previous incarnations includes panchen sonam dragpa and his texts are still being studied in the monasteries such as Gaden Monastery. Does that mean the ENTIRE MONASTERY is a Chinese spy? How can that be because the abbots are all approved by the Dalai lama himself.

@zamzam24388 I know, isn't that so ironic? The Dalai Lama knows that if he lets Trijang Rinpoche practise, it's not just Trijang Rinpoche who will be practising. It'll be the monks in his ladrang, his students, etc all helping to prepare the offerings, tormas etc for the pujas. Those assistants are also more than likely to practise DS themselves.

heard of high lamas and their crazy wisdom. Look how famous DS is becoming suddenly - global media publicity! Never underestimate HH n the protector and stop the insults - bad karma, no need to practice demon, collecting bad karma by just these slandering back and forth.
How kind of His Holiness and the other high lamas to allow their names to be tarnished like this, just so people will hold their vows well and create great amounts of merit. Did you guys know that DS's name refers to his enlightened state? 'Shug' meaning might or power, 'Den' meaning irreversible or stable...the only being that is irreversible in this impermanent existence is the Buddha, because he's out of samsara. Therefore calling DS 'irreversible power' refers to him being a Buddha!
If you truly believe the high lamas are attained and have omniscience, then you must believe they have a pure motivation to spread the Dharma. So why are they criticising DS? Look at what their criticisms have achieved - Dorje Shugden's name is becoming increasingly famous, and people are becoming very determined to do their practice well. This is very rare in the degenerate age.
People need to stop dragging high lamas' names into the issue because it doesn't serve any purpose aside from harming their own guru samaya. Remember, for every person you harm, for every attained being you criticise for practising DS, YOU collect the karma and break your samaya, NOT the lamas because they are already attained and have no karma to suffer.
If Setrap resides in DS's mandala, then they are the same mindstream. So why allow Setrap's practice to continue and not DS's? Because they are one and the same - you practise Setrap, you practise DS. So why is HHDL okay with one, and not the other? Look at what's happening when this controversy is created. DS is becoming very famous. So perhaps HHDL is promoting DS indirectly, because its now his time to become greatly effective.
And who gets to decide whether a practice is good or bad? The Dalai Lama said DS practice is not good, but he is allowing the reincarnation of his Guru Trijang Rinpoche to continue the practice so who is right or not? Whos to say whether we should or shouldnt continue a certain practice then?
When practices are simply banned or discontinued like that, then what is sacred anymore? These practices are passed down through an unbroken lineage of teachers and highly attained masters, many of whom are enlightened themselves. If we start saying this or that practice is wrong and that we should stop it, then whats to say all the other practices that we have received from the same lineage are also not wrong?
The Gelug monastic communities decided to stop this practice. It is their right according to the Vinaya. 98% of the monks supported it. Ganden Tripa supported it .
I find it strange that the Dalai Lama relied on Dorje to escape Tibet for his life and safety only to ban the practise. I thought Buddhism is all about Peace and Love.

Two young monks, Nagawang Lodoe and the Dalai Lama's Chinese-language interpreter, Lobsang Nagwang, died within hours of the attack.
Dalai Lama against his own disciples of cultivating Shugden practice. This angered Shugden's disciples and resulting in murdering of Dalai Lama's cabinet members. In order to bring peace to humanity, the Shugden cult has to be stopped of such evil act.
Regarding Dorje Shugden there are two ways of perceiving him - one according the ordinary appearance of ignorant people and the other is according to the appearance of a qualified practitioner.
These two appearances came originally from the 5th Dalai Lama. First he saw Dorje Shugden as a harmful spirit and tried to destroy him (he failed). Because of this the ordinary view developed and became widespread in Tibetan society.
Later the 5th Dalai Lama realized he had made a mistake, recognized Dorje Shugden as an enlightened being, composed prayers to him and engaged in the practice. In his prayers he invites Dorje Shugden to appear from the Dharmakaya. Since this time the appearance of a qualified practitioner developed and many high lamas from Sakya and Gelug traditions followed this view.
Are we 'buddhists'? Followers of a Buddha or Guru R? And do we need a worldly spirit, if it brings personal speedy success, but not long term enlightenment to All sentient beings?
There's no real reason to follow DS. If it is said to be harmful by HHDL and many other lamas, better to believe it. Geshe is just one person. And it seems that DS might harm him personally if he stopped practicing it. Do you really want to join that 'club'?
I heard Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has through his family a personal connection to Dorje Shugden, which is a spirit, not a Buddha. DS brings worldly success, but is that a buddhist thing? No. It is said that because people went into wrong direction - not following Guru Rinpoche - but some worldly spirit DS, Tibet was lost to Tibetans.
Known Shugden cult members, Lobsang Chodak & Tenzil Choezim are listed on the C.B.I (Indian equivalent of the F.B.I) WANTED LIST: (see CBI Website Wanted List),
in connection to the triple murder of Geshe Lobsang and two students. The CBI state that the two have sought refuge with the Chinese Government in Tibet.
dordje shugden is not a bouddhist practice, it's a shamanic practice. When i see violence of new kadampa practicionners, i am sure dordje shugden is an evil spirit.
Saw a documentary today about the Shugden. why are they banned by the Dalai? Isn't that against what he "preacches": freedom of expression and religious practice?
The Dorje Shugden I know is a wisdom Buddha who has only made me a better, more loving person. Maybe there's some other "Dorje Shugden" who's an evil spirit, but I would say it's a case of mistaken identity to confuse a Buddha, who by definition can only help every living being, with someone evil who causes harm. After all "Dorje Shugden" is just a name - we can't be talking about the same person.

I would suggest people just read, study, and practice the most ancient teachings of the Buddha in the Pali nikayas. It's full of direct teaching about the dhamma and not getting all caught up in deity worship, rituals, and doctrinal belief. its some times a challenge to see any of Tibetan Buddhism as "Buddhism" at all. I left the christian religion because it makes no sense to me to worship or pray to something or someone that I cannot prove the existence of. I started studying buddhism because the teaching of Buddha bring me inner peace, happiness, and have literally changed my life for the better. I've discovered a deity isn't needed to achieve those things

Dorje Shugden is about Gelug sectarianism, the majority of the Gelugpas are non-sectarians.Tibetan Buddhism (five schools) is non-sectarian.

In Tibetan Buddhism, keeping Guru samaya is most important for spiritual growth. DL gives instructions to practitioners to stop practicing a deity which has been propitiated for 300 plus years. To the point that monasteries split, families separated.

This deity, Dorje Shugden is the same nature as Je Tsongkhapa they are the same person performing different functions. Many Dorje Shugden sadhanas state that Dorje Shugden is the embodiment of the Guru, Yidam, and Protector, where Guru refers specifically to Lama Tsongkhapa.
Thus, many cannot accept what Dalai Lama is saying about DS n when there are so many evidence pointing to DS's enlightened nature.

It is Kache Marpo who mentioned through an oracle that Dalai Lama is perhaps the only one who could bring Dorje Shugden to a global level. And the Dalai Lama has just done so with the Ban!

Go read!! Fascinating. How can DS be sectarian if such a high Nyingma Lama would assist. May HH Penor Rinpoche incarnate quickly and benefit more beings.

Yes, Dorje Shugden's time is at hand. What the Dalai Lama is doing is merely spreading him bigger and wider in the world. This ban will soon be a thing of the past and many will see the Dalai Lama's plan come to fruition within our very lifetimes. How beneficial and compassionate these beings are! Events like opening of Shar Ganden and proclamation of DS Practice by more high lamas could be an indication that the cleansing period is coming to an end. If we continue the stable efforts to practice Dharma sincerely and let more people know the benefits of DS, the time of our Great King will come quickly and we will have the good karma to see more people embrace him and practice Dharma for the benefit of all sentient beings.

When something very beneficial is to happen, many obstacles also arise. Perhaps all the drama and controversy that is happening is a form of cleansing of obstacles. Once all these obstacles are overcome, DS practice will flourish swiftly and smoothly. In the effort of overcoming these obstacles, sincere Dharma practitioners also get the chance to develop, stabilize and strengthen their minds so that they will contribute to the growth of Dharma.

I think the spies thing only applies if you are Tibetan. Dorje Shugden is a Buddha and he's Manjushri. One of his seat is Wu Tai Shan in China, so Dorje Shugden has close affinity with the Chinese. Many people have been hurt by DL's ban over a practice which has been held so dearly for over 350 years. HH Trijang Rinpoche (previous incarnation) has even written a volume of who Dorje Shugden is and told us that DL and DS will be at odds. However, practitioners are to be steadfast and not say anything bad towards DL. It is difficult because we are human beings with emotions and will react to what we observe. I do sincerely hope the ban will be lifted and practitioners can practice freely.

Also, DS previous incarnations includes panchen sonam dragpa and his texts are still being studied in the monasteries such as Gaden Monastery. Does that mean the ENTIRE MONASTERY is a Chinese spy? How can that be because the abbots are all approved by the Dalai lama himself.

And the Dalai Lama knows all this will happen. The point is, the Dalai Lama isn't just allowing Trijang Rinpoche to practise, he's indirectly also allowing Trijang Rinpoche's students to practise too!

@zamzam24388 I know, isn't that so ironic? The Dalai Lama knows that if he lets Trijang Rinpoche practise, it's not just Trijang Rinpoche who will be practising. It'll be the monks in his ladrang, his students, etc all helping to prepare the offerings, tormas etc for the pujas. Those assistants are also more than likely to practise DS themselves.

How can any leader say don't attend my talks because you don't share my same spiritual beliefs?
If you are the Dalai lama, you are the secular and religious leader of all tibetans, hence you must respect all religioius faiths within your country.
Imagine if Obama says, all jews cannot attend his talk. Or all Shugden ppl cannot attend his public speeches.

101th Gaden Tripa has just retired. HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche (title given after retirement)and his ladrang has left Gaden Shartse Monastery and JOINED SHAR GADEN.

So 2 big ladrangs from Shartse has left and joined Shar Gaden.
Gaden Trisur's throne that is in Shartse will remain in Shartse just like Trijang Rinpoche's throne although he has left Shartse Monastery completely. HH Gaden Trisur Rinpoche was the student of the previous Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang. So what does this say, perhaps Dorje Shugden is not an evil spirit but a BUDDHA and from a pure lineage?

Read Trijang Rinpoche's incredible commentary in one full volume that he wrote in the late 70's. It is all about Shugden and his lineage/practice/etc.

How kind of His Holiness and the other high lamas to allow their names to be tarnished like this, just so people will hold their vows well and create great amounts of merit. Did you guys know that DS's name refers to his enlightened state? 'Shug' meaning might or power, 'Den' meaning irreversible or stable...the only being that is irreversible in this impermanent existence is the Buddha, because he's out of samsara. Therefore calling DS 'irreversible power' refers to him being a Buddha!

If you truly believe the high lamas are attained and have omniscience, then you must believe they have a pure motivation to spread the Dharma. So why are they criticising DS? Look at what their criticisms have achieved - Dorje Shugden's name is becoming increasingly famous, and people are becoming very determined to do their practice well. This is very rare in the degenerate age.

People need to stop dragging high lamas' names into the issue because it doesn't serve any purpose aside from harming their own guru samaya. Remember, for every person you harm, for every attained being you criticise for practising DS, YOU collect the karma and break your samaya, NOT the lamas because they are already attained and have no karma to suffer.

If Setrap resides in DS's mandala, then they are the same mindstream. So why allow Setrap's practice to continue and not DS's? Because they are one and the same - you practise Setrap, you practise DS. So why is HHDL okay with one, and not the other? Look at what's happening when this controversy is created. DS is becoming very famous. So perhaps HHDL is promoting DS indirectly, because its now his time to become greatly effective.

When practices are simply banned or discontinued like that, then what is sacred anymore? These practices are passed down through an unbroken lineage of teachers and highly attained masters, many of whom are enlightened themselves. If we start saying this or that practice is wrong and that we should stop it, then whats to say all the other practices that we have received from the same lineage are also not wrong?

He has no right to ban Dorje Shugden. He must give religious freedom to all.

If Nechung has so much power, then Tibet would be Free by now.
If Nechung is so powerful, then Tibet would have never lost Tibet to China in the first place.
Since Nechung is the state protector of Tibet and it's govt, he didn't do a good job to protect Tibet at all.
Dalai lama is already in his 70's and there is no sign of Tibetan Freedom.
We Tibetan youths are tired of waiting and do not believe in Nechung and his supposed power.

Kyabje Ling Rinpoche's previous life often advised people to do Dorje Shugden's puja for protection.
He together with the other tutor Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche were the great lamas to come out of Tibet in 1959.

The point is that Dalai Lama MAY NOT BAN ANY FORM OF WORSHIP IN A FREE AND DEMOCRATIC INDIA.
Because of this ban, Dalai Lama is going to court. He has been summoned by the High Court in Delhi to plead his case.

Regarding Dorje Shugden there are two ways of perceiving him - one according the ordinary appearance of ignorant people and the other is according to the appearance of a qualified practitioner.
These two appearances came originally from the 5th Dalai Lama. First he saw Dorje Shugden as a harmful spirit and tried to destroy him (he failed). Because of this the ordinary view developed and became widespread in Tibetan society.

Later the 5th Dalai Lama realized he had made a mistake, recognized Dorje Shugden as an enlightened being, composed prayers to him and engaged in the practice. In his prayers he invites Dorje Shugden to appear from the Dharmakaya. Since this time the appearance of a qualified practitioner developed and many high lamas from Sakya and Gelug traditions followed this view.

There's no real reason to follow DS. If it is said to be harmful by HHDL and many other lamas, better to believe it. Geshe is just one person. And it seems that DS might harm him personally if he stopped practicing it. Do you really want to join that 'club'?

I heard Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has through his family a personal connection to Dorje Shugden, which is a spirit, not a Buddha. DS brings worldly success, but is that a buddhist thing? No. It is said that because people went into wrong direction - not following Guru Rinpoche - but some worldly spirit DS, Tibet was lost to Tibetans.

The Dorje Shugden I know is a wisdom Buddha who has only made me a better, more loving person. Maybe there's some other "Dorje Shugden" who's an evil spirit, but I would say it's a case of mistaken identity to confuse a Buddha, who by definition can only help every living being, with someone evil who causes harm. After all "Dorje Shugden" is just a name - we can't be talking about the same person.

The truth about Shugden is that he is a controversial and obscure deity, the soul of a restless diseased lama, which was used to establish Gelug exclusivism and whose primary functions has been to assert hegemony over rival sects! Moreover it was used to assassinate followers of the own school which "polluted" Gelug teachings. My family and i believe in Dorje Shugden and I was wondering about this business of Dalai Lama's followers persecuting Dorje Shuden's followers. Can anyone tell me what is happening? I live in Mongolia and most people there are from the same brach of Buddhism as Dalai Lama but i never noticed or heard of any kind of persecution there.

Because all these REINCARNATION is fake. Tibetan learned it from Hinduism like Brahman. Caste system. We Tibetan Civilian were and are fooled by this so called Buddhist religion. Buddha against Statue, reincarnation but our lamas are doing the opposite. The worst is that those Political leader using the God's name fooling people. Tibet is better without Dalai Lama and WITHOUT RELIGION.

iwannaberich2007 also mades a good point. Why did HHDL practice Dorje Shugden in the first place, especially if he is the reincarnation of the 13th DL, who was avidly against Shugden? He only changed his mind when the Nechung oracle told him to. Was he unenlightened when he did DS? If he was, then how is he the reincarnation of an enlightened being? Enlightenment isn't something that msut be re-attained each lifetime! Why would an enlightened Buddha rely upon the advice of a worldly spirit?

I can't believe so many anti-Shugden Buddhists are acting like a bunch of fundamentalist Christians, judging other fellow Dharma practitioners because of what ONE man and his unquestionable followers say. 2 quick things:
The first Refuge Vow is not to go for refuge to worldly gods or spirits. Anyone who relies upon Nechung (who nobody debates is a worldly spirit) breaks that vow.
Second, one of the Bodhisattva Downfalls is creating a schism in the sangha. HHDL has done this & continues to

I make the following challenge to those who claim His Holiness is in error.
Prove one statement wrong, and one statement to be true.
1.The practice of Dorje Shugden requires followers to avoid any and all contact with Nyingmapas and teaches a lack of equanimity with regards to that school.
2.Practitioners of Dorje Shugden have been discriminated against in real ways. *Note: saying "Please do not do this, and if you do, then please do not attend my free and open teachings" is not discrimination.
