@icon0x1 because black doesn't reflect any light, it absorbs all the colors of the spectrum, so there's no light getting to your eye. Once the statue bust gets hit with the paint, you can see the sculpture because there's now something there to reflect the light.

The women, on the rotating sphere, are trying to conform to their surrounding, the guy is obviously dressed like the joker to pay tribute to good old Jack (the original joker), the rest is really down to your own observation. That..and it's a catchy song.
