Memories. . . I do hope they bring back Kyle for another Jedi Knight game, Jedi Academy was disappointing. Jedi Outcast was a phenomenal game, dark and gritty (reminded me of Mysteries of the Sith a bit). . . . miss these games, they were my childhood and at 19 (20 next month) I still want to play them!

What Operating System do you have this game running on im trying to get it to work on windows 7 but its not working. Plan B is to install windows 98 or 95 on a virtual PC and I don't wanna do that just to get 1 game to work :P lol.

@addingvids117 dosbox is an emulator that emulates Microsoft DOS that this game was developed for. I can't seem to get it work smoothly though, dosbox can be a little difficult to learn.

@MegaPoone Yes, it did predate by a bit games where you got a checkpoint or auto/quick save functions. I enjoyed the toughness; in fact I think many games now are far too forgiving.

Installed this game again just for nostalgia and giggles...guess what! It's still damned awesome! One thing i noticed though: It's always "Go there!" "Destroy That!" "Find that key" "Retreive object XY"; shoot hundreds of stormtroopers on the way.

Haven't found every secret stash? Level not 100% complete? Play level again...

See what I'm getting at? Games haven't changed that much in the past 16 years.

Only the graphics got better...Not gonna buy CoD nor BF3...gonna play Dark Forces :D

It's hard to beat Star Wars games from the 90's, this one was one of my favorites as a kid. I still love this game and I still play it once in a while. Dark Forces was one of many great Star Wars games from the 90's. Anyone remember Rebel Assault 2 on PS1? Or A New Hope on the SNES?

@brothercanefan agreed, also add Rogue Squadron to that list there were quite a few others that I loved as well (Shadows of the Empire, Bounty Hunter, Republic Commando, Galactic Commander, hell even the movie games for the prequels were good)...come to think of it, there were like...sixty star wars games, none of which were terribly bad. I don't think any other franchise can boast such a huge variety (FPS, TPS, MMO, RTS, RPG, flight sim) of games that were actually GOOD

It is! I got one of those classic star wars package deals that included Dark forces, Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2, Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.

Its been awhile since I got it so the package might not be available anymore, but great deals like that are still frequent.

Well I must say it does look very very Doomish. Doom was a great sucsess here ( In Deutschland) And even tho i am a Star wars/Trek fan, it does seem (with the low lvl of graphics the games had back then) Very much like Doom, just put the Doom monsters in and volia no different.
