When Juilete says it worked I tooked that to mean that the original intent of the explosion was to return them back to "normal" and they are in some sort of parellel reality. They could not be in the same because we see that the Darma camp is under water in the "fixed" reality. Just my take.
It might be that the time flashes are intentional, by the island (or whoever governs its magic or whatever), to course correct certain events. Juliet and all set off a bomb, but they time flashed to 2007 (why wouldn't it put them back in 2004? I guess because they lived for three years in the 1970s, from 1974 to 1977, the island took that time lived into consideration and added 3 years to 2004...well, 2005, techically, since the Oceanic 6 were rescued early in January 2005).
So the time flash saved Juliet and company from being blown up/sunk (maybe it brought Horace and a few other recognizables to the "present"/2007 as well--oooh, just thought of that now, hmm), they end up in the "normal" timeline (the one viewers see as the Original), because in SOME version of the events, the island never got blown underwater. The island simply placed them back where they belonged (sort of) and the past in which they detonated the bomb became the past for the alternate timeline
Timeline for Desmond originally went, 1) He and Penny don't work out, 2) He goes to LA for whatever reason and meets Jack briefly when they're both doing the tour de stade running thing, he tells Jack that he's training for a race around the world competition, 3) He meets Libby in a diner (or something like that, I REALLY need to see Seasons 1 to 3 again) and she gives him her dead husband's boat. Desmond uses the boat for part of the race, but gets pulled in by the island. No island, no trap.
Hmm, I had the opposite reaction. I was AMAZED by how much was revealed. The temple, the smoke monster, the ash (not sand I think), more about the others, healing properties.
While they're not fully explained, those are half of the big mysteries in the entire show.
Anything that's done has to be done within the story, just listing off answers for the sake of it would be a disservice to the characters, and this episode set up a truly epic story (the "war" between our guys and MIB)
I think my favorite line in the premiere is when the smoke monster has just finished bashing around everybody and reverts back to his "John Locke" form, he walks up to Ben and says, "Sorry you had to see me like that." Mind-blowing.
You and Steve are so PERFECT together! I wanted you to kiss at the end of this. But that's just me.
It's been heavily speculated on, and I've been waiting to have it confirmed, but I don't think we've ever gotten any indication within the show itself, so far. Smoke-Monster-Locke's "Good to see you out of those chains" to Richard is the closest we may've come, so far. A prisoner being chained on the Black Rock is very plausible. Sawyer strangled Locke's dad with the chains in the Black Rock. Yeah...at this point it feels pretty much like a sure thing.
Woah im confused. Why do Miles and Hurley not see the same dead people? I thought they had the same power. And Who is Jack Shephards father that appears on the island? Is he the smoke monster aka evil John Locke?
oh i see! thats it, saw it explained somewhere. Miles can summon and hear the dead but not see them. Hurley can see and hear the dead but can't summon them.
They're like quicksilver and flash or batman and daredevil. Same but different lol.
Actually I don't watch the show, but I keep up with the ARG and the wiki and your vids. I think it's much more interesting to watch the fans figure it out than actually watch the show :D
I'm so glad LOST is back! I saw part one of the premiere Saturday in Hawaii (Special early screening on a beach!). I couldn't wait until last night to watch Part 2. Can't wait to see more! Great review!
HI guys. Come on, why would u even think you would get a bunch of answers and not questions? The show rocked. It's obvious that the explosion made another timeline. I think it's interesting how it's showing that every one of the characters lives are crap when they land in LAX. And what was up with Desmond being on the plane and then gone? Lost is about questions. It's the only show on TV that actually makes you think, long after it's over.
Dude that would suck if all the dead charecters come back but only in the Ault.Timeline and if the fountan of youth brings people back to life,Why dont thay bring like every body back to life lol
in my understanding of it was that the Fountain of life do not bring ppl back to life, it onlys heals. Remeber when Ben said, "i've seen alot of amazing things on this island, but dead is dead, you don't get to come back from that. Thats why 'everyone' was supprised when syide woke up, because he was pernounced dead.
Instead of Jacob possessing him, Dogen (the Japanese dude) implied that he would become slowly infected by "darkness" (something like that, can't remember the dialogue exactly). It always sounded like something similar happened to the Frenchwoman's/Danielle Rousseau's science team, ever since she mentioned it in Season 1, then we saw the end result in the Season 5 flashback that Jin experienced, when Rousseau was shooting them all because they'd gone evil (presumably due to the smoke monster?)
yeah, it was the most interesting part of the 3rd hour of final season.
Hopefully tomorrow we get a little closer
I have to say, I was disappointed with that was in the guitar case, even if needed. Just kinda like, at least the big fricken box had John Locke's body in it.
And the way everybody is letting a now known fake John Locke get away with probable murder is odd. But we'll see.
I should probably do a full season 1 thru 4 repeat.
What they hey, I'll say something too--maybe Steve was thinking, "These vids are fun and important to Paul, but MAN, sometimes I realize how much they steal away from a chunk of our daily bone time".
I totally agree with you guys! But man that was an interesting (confusing) episode ever and it was good to see some characters that have been gone for a long time!
It was great to see Boone, Charlie, and finally Claire. But why was Desmond there? What happened to Shannon, and the "Tailies"? I thought it was funny to see Jack and Locke together. I never thought about him being able to help John in real life. Kate escapes again?!?
Yep, we might see the reasons for why Shannon didn't take the flight (though Boone had just been to Australia to visit her) later this season in the non-crash, 2004 timeline (the "alternate", I suppose, since the 2007 Island-above-water timeline is the "original" to viewers). It could be, with the island blown underwater and many of its inhabitants dead, Ben, Jacob, and their minions were not able to exert their subtle influences on the mainlands since 1977, resulting in major changes in events
@KrisAB Maggie Grace who plays Shannon was working on another project and could not make it to the premiere. Ian Somerhalder was cooler to see anyway. He Christian and Ethan have returned to the show the most since being killed.
Yeah, thanks for the confirmation. I figured the real life reason for actor absences may've been because of other commitments, but I was just trying to think of an in-story reason for Shannon not being on the plane. Folks have been wondering why we didn't see Michael, Walt, and some of the tail section people, but I figure either the writers didn't have a need for them yet, or they've been influenced in the alternate timeline to not get on Flight 815. Tail folks could still be there in back.
same, little disappointed. I predicted the fake Locke/Monster thing you know... Lockness. But I thought it was too far fetched. Then it appears it might be an alien?!?! Hope not.
Seems when Claire said it worked, she was ... half right.
Did you watch Jimmy Kimmel? They said on there the island is a space ship. So false info or not, my theory right there was confirmed at least not too far fetched by the creators themselves.
Aliens.. well, did you see Indiana Jones 4? WTF did they get aliens from? They both seem a lot alike right now. Plus on Jimmy Kimmel one of the creators says the island is a space ship, debunking old theories and confirming a fact of the show?
Claire, sorry wrong name, lots of names. Didn't look back to be sure as I was just finished with the show and not looking to wikipedia the names just so somebody like yourself didn't have a massive stroke over my comments.
It's very possible that the creators are throwing out fake spoilers (like, "the island is an alien ship", which is way too huge a reveal to be just casually thrown out there on a talk show--even if it HAS been speculated on by fans for a while now--and it's something I'd wanna see revealed in the show first before Lost writers discuss it). Showrunners have done that before, attempting to throw particularly spoiler-hungry viewers off track. Hopefully the season's reveals remain unspoiled.
right and after the above mentioned Raiders film, that idea wouldn't go over well for a 2nd time if it didn't the first. Despite the fact it would be a rip off, it would just probably suck anyhow.
I'm so excited! I just finished watching it too. From what I gathered, there are two realities that are simply divergent, but they're both "real." In one, they time-traveled, and in the other time reset in 1977 and the future was averted. One theory I have is that the ash which keeps Cerberus (the smoke monster) away is actually Jacob's ash (perhaps delivered to the past from the future?). The man in black cannot directly harm Jacob, therefore he can't directly harm things within the ash.
is there someone in the background wathing tv or something?
