  • This cover kind of reminds me of Destiny's Child's Destiny Fulfilled album cover. Interestingly, from left to right, they look like Beyonce', Kelly, and Michelle too. Wow! This really does prove that history actually does repeat itself. TVOne's Unsung should do an episode on them b/c they really didn't get their props, or as Aretha Franklin said in "Respect"..."propers." Lol. They were truly talented. Where are they now?

  • @Laxoldskoolrap1- Mannie Fresh used this particular sample in one of his songs. The very beginning strings were sampled.

  • AY YO DOES ANY 1 KNOW A BAD ASS HIP HOP VERSION OF THIS SONG

  • DWW knows how to keep the originals original and do them justice. Thank God for talent.

  • Your Man - Down With Webster. Sick sample of this song.

  • So THIS was where the beginning of Your Man came from.. This is a REALLY good song!

  • Mannie Fresh did wonders with this song on The Big Tymers album.

  • omg this is song is amazing!! this is my mom's and my song!! <3

  • i love this song itz on mi vida loca

  • i disliked it by accident. sorry. I like it.

  • I have to say this is one sweet and soulful song to last the ages. I love the way their voices meld together and hold thorugh the "keep on workin' vocal ascents. This is REAL music. The song is about selfless love, about giving - not taking. This is what love actually is, a decision, not a feeling...giving without expecting anything in return. A man should be so fortunate to have a woman who feels this way, and he should thank God for her every day!

  • I know im 18 & youngin but gosh i wish was born around these times to be able 2 dress like the beautiful artists & see the pretty afros & fashion...till this dayy these divas are beautiful..i love their songs.

  • love this song(:

  • this is a firme rola.........-...........

  • The lovely Honey Cone were such a gifted and dedicated sister group.

They did such great hits to do with love and divine, because when our sisters sang songs they touch from the souls.

The Honey Cone were so uplifted as well sexy.

  • @peasah2005

They realy were Not true sisters, but may have been "soul sisters"!

  • Comment removed

  • This is my favorite song from the movie Mi Vida Loca.

  • @meyeboy2 me too!

  • @meyeboy2 me too

  • love the music

  • agree to dat

  • yup everything they say so true...

  • What did Tyra say about it ain't easy. Here be the Honey Cone with Girls It Ain't Easy."

  • woah lol Down With Webster did sample this lol, i like this song better though.

  • Down with Webster didn't "steal" this song. They sampled it. There's a difference. Of course they gave credit to this song on the CD booklets - and of course they got permission before using it.

Personally, DWW's song Your Man and Girls It Ain't Easy are completely different, but both are great in their own way.

  • mi vida loca .... this song i the shit.....

  • @biggsnugz ya myne fo sho

  • @biggsnugz hahaha I was just thinking of it when i seen ur post...kool vato!

  • Thought so. Stolen music once again. (down with webster) lol

  • @ramona7609 Go to Wikipedia, look up sampling music, get educated.

    That's all.

  • @gunsandroses69 You must be a webster fan. lol

  • @ramona7609 Whether I'm a fan or not is irrelevant. If you're unaware of the LEGAL use of samples in music, then you don't really know that much. It's not 'stolen' it's simply used to create another form of art. Do you hate cover songs too?

  • @gunsandroses69 lol Why are you taking this so seriously for? I was only refering to how John Taylor of Duran Duran produced the music for a movie back in the 90's called 'Mi Vida Loca' & how so many artists now use other music to create a quick song. I'm sure they credited the music by Honey Cone. Take care & stay chill.

  • @gunsandroses69 Sampling music is a cheap way to make a new song, period. It'd be like Salvador Dali taking a painting by Van Gogh and just drawing some shit over it and calling it his work of art. Whether or not it's legal is irrelevant; it's cheap and lazy. Not to say rap isn't good, though, just the actual writers/musicians involved with the original music deserve MUCH more respect than the people sampling it.

  • @Frowned whoa now. obviously the original writers deserve credit but there are different ways of sampling. there is the "easy way" which is just looping part of an old song. that is easy and the original people obviously deserve more credit. but there are ways to really switch around old music and make completely new and original creations in which the sample may be impossible to figure out!

  • @Frowned I suppose you hate covers too. Interestingly enough, within the realm of popular music, things such as chord progressions are used over and over, despite what appears to sound like a different song. Since I don't think you're a music theory buff, I'll just say that it means things like the sample of this song, which is JUST A SERIES OF CHORDS could easily be recreated and used, there's NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. Comparing music and art is also inane, they are incredibly different mediums.

  • @Frowned True...plus, it is not as easy as people seem to think to get the perfect blend of music, arrangement, dynamics as some may believe...what you say is valid, but even more goes into producing an ORIGINAL piece of music...so for someone to lay claim to that performance, and them simply sample it, is unfair, to say the least...i won't use stronger words here.

  • @gunsandroses69 In actuality, sampling was once considered very taboo, to the point that Sugar Hill Gang lied and were taken to court over Chir's "Good Times"...by the time James Brown and others broached the subject, compromises were made....Prior to digital synthesizers, this would never have been tolerated, partially because of the lack of fidelity, but once you had boot leg companies willing to press records, and sell them out of car trunks and at swap meets, the practice grew and grew...

  • Who the f*ck is this webster person? And who cares? Probably just another overrated pseudo-talent with a fan base of undiscriminating lemmings. Not fit to be The Honey Cone's chauffeur.

  • @Zebred2001 Down With Webster is a Canadian band that sampled the repeating piano part in this song for their hit, 'Your Man.' Considering you don't know a single thing about them, it makes it incredibly hard for me to take the rest of your comment seriously.

  • i FCKX LUV THiS 0LDi3.LYRiCZ AR3 S0 TRU3

  • why does the beginning sound like your man?

  • @snowflakehellokitty

Because down with webster sampled them.

Because obviously, Honey Cone came first.

  • I love this song...cuz it true what they are singing...girls it aint easy...cuz vatos blame us for everything...and plus they get other bitches prego when we are seperated from our man that we love..men arent faithful....

  • @mariacarrillo25 Not all of them... . I'm not like you've described "mans". I'm searching for a thing in those times, that isn't very popular. Everybody is living fast, without taking any responsibility for their behaviours. They don't care, that they can hurt someone. Very common thing - hurt someone important in their life. But people are too stupid in 2010 to understand that.

  • All b/c og mi vida loca i love this song XD

  • i love the oldyes, and up the eighteen street

  • im a ryder, L.A southsider

  • yo this is one of the best beats in that year, man a classic!

  • After leaving Motown, Holland/Dozier/Holland (Brian and Eddie Holland, and Lamont Dozier) and creating Hot Wax Records (Eddie came up with the name for the group), they wrote this song for them in 1969. As familiar as I am with old-school soul, with a collection and access to more (I'm 43), even I didn't know much about this song until I saw the end credits for the movie 'Mi Vida Loca'. This hit preceded their biggest, "Want Ads" in 1971.

  • @CookyMonzta Do you know where I can lay my hands on copy of "Let the People Talk" by (I believe) the Steptones. Any help appreciated.

  • To be honest, I never heard even part of this song until I came across a site that sold a copy. It's called UptightRecords,co,uk. They want £40 for the 7-inch version. I thought I saw another site that sells it for £30.

  • @Zebred2001 Substitute the commas with dots. This site won't let messages with Web addresses get posted. But again, I never even heard of that Steptones song until now.

  • Thiz rola reminds me de the ovie MI VIDA LOCA i love that movie

  • Haha the other night a radio that I didn't know played oldies played a Mi Via Loca skit before playing this!

  • hell ya mi vida loca helped this song out!!! i love it

  • The movie, Mi Vida Loca did for this song what American Me did for The Animals-Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. They became lowrider classics still being played and dedicated to this day as they will 20 years from now.

  • 0mq i ♥ this song it reminds me of my auntie smiley R.I.P.

  • I remember listening to this song and wondering what wasn't easy. Now I know. Relationships are hard. Even the best ones. The Honey Cones sure did warn us sistas.

  • It's funny how you hear songs when your younger and you like the song for the song itself. But when you are "grown" them the lyrics make the song so very different.

  • hell yeah to all females we gotta keep the love alive!

  • Wow!! Thanks for posting this groove, been searching everywhere for this
