  • Many people will shocked by DVD logo in last moment

  • Where's the left channel on the sound?

  • Go to mediaoutletonline. (c^* om to get this song.

  • My friend and I love Media Outlet Online for doonnlooading f.r..ee tuunes such as this one... You should try and find it using Yahoo.

  • I saw this movie on Svengoolie years ago, loved it.

  • Esperanto is not (as this trailer states) an "artificial" language. It is a "devised" language. An artificial language has not etymology ... no word roots. (Klingon is a good example of an actual "artificial" language). Esperanto has its roots mostly in Latin, with a lot of Germanic, as well as some Greek and Indo-European word roots. Also (little known fact) today there are an estimated 200 or so people for whom Esperanto is/was their first language.

  • 1:03 \m/ rokenrolo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (rock'n'roll)

  • Finally caught it on TCM after wanting to see it for years. I thought it was very atmospheric, but then I love B&W photography. Somebody must have seen Shatner on those two Twilight Zone episodes and thought he would be perfect.

  • I just got through watching it on TCM---dull as dishwater---and I kept asking myself, over and over again---"what the heck LANGUAGE is this?!?"

According to Wikipedia, where I just looked this up moments ago, when this premiered at an art-house theater in San Francisco, the Esperanto-speaking audience members laughed their heads off at the constant mispronunciations.

  • "Incubus" (1966) aired on TCM, September 25, 2010!

This is the first time I saw William Shatner do a movie with subtitles!

I recorded this movie on my TiVo!

  • LMAO at 1:34 when that woman is wrestling with a goat!

  • @thecritiquevirtuoso That's what happens when you keep an old tuna can and some shoe laces in your pocket at a Petting Zoo!

  • Wow William Shatner used to be gorgeous.

  • @atolm1 lmao no he didn't

  • Kiel la filmo estis en Esperanto?

  • Watched this on TV the other night. William Shatner is in classic form. My favorite scene is when the goat assaults the Succubus. It took me a while to figure out the characters were speaking Esperanto.

  • Lousy trailer for an excellent movie. :(

  • This is the greatest Satanic movie of all time in the entire history of mankind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh ... they committed the sin of calling Esperanto an "artificial" language. Grrr! Esperanto is a "devised" language, but NOT artificial. Artificial languages have no etymology (word roots). Esperanto is based entirely on existing languages and every word has a root in an existing language (often Latin). Now tlhInghan Hol ("Klingon") would be a good example of a true "artificial" language.

  • @jubchuqun

    Yeah, conlang ≠ "artificial".

  • @reyluzbel - Mi ne komprenas pri kio "trailer-on' vi parolas. Tuta la filmo estis en la Esperantan lingvon (tamen, kun Anglajn subtitulojn). Mi neniam vidis "trailer-on."

Ankaux ... kio estas "domanĝo"? Mi ne komprenas la vorton...

  • @jubchuqun domanĝo, shame, pena, dommage, etc.

  • this movie seems crazy... as crazy as the language that it is in.

  • @thecritiquevirtuoso - Actually, the movie is very (VERY) logical if you care to take it up. The movie is, however, a bit low budget, and a product of the 1960's. Nevertheless, it is pretty cool that the US has an all Esperanto movie, starring a very well known movie star... (ie, William Shatner).

A few comments on the language... not trying to "teach" a lesson ... but just to give readers a clue...

There are only 16 rules of grammar in Esperanto (compared to thousands in English)

  • This movie looks so awesome! And I love the fact that it was done entirely in Esperanto; that's really cool. :)

  • satanic sacrifice

    Resurrection of the death

    WILLIAM SHATNER!!!!

  • Looks good, visually at least.

  • Che figo l'esperanto! Ahahah!

  • Does anyone have current information on Anthony M. Taylor, (Tony Taylor), he was the producer of this film?

  • I saw this movie a long time ago. I love the way William Shatner over-acts.... It's funny...

  • YES!

  • My favourite part is at the end: packed with gorgeous blondes! Satanic sacrifices! Resurrection of the dead! WILLIAM SHATNER!

    AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • @potatofiend mine to =))

  • Oh... My G-d! I must have it! *__*

  • esprunto? dude, get your pronunciation right

  • The voiceover guy didn't pronounce it "esprunto", it sounded like "espranto", which is bad enough, but can result from simply making the middle "e" in "Esperanto" too short to distinguish. So it was not as badly pronounced as you suggest. As for speaking in the movie, the main problem I would have changed is either to change the spelling of "Kia" to "Kaya" to better match the pronunciation OR to change the pronunciation to "Kia", the same as the car, as it is in Esperanto.

  • bizarre trailer!!!

  • Kial parolis Esperanton en cxi tiu filmo?

  • Por terura efekto, mu supozas. Neniu anticipus tiel.

  • Mi certe volas aĉeti ĝin.

Yes, it is esperanto, but poorly pronounced.

  • I think the movie dialogue is well enough pronounced, considering the short time they'd all been speaking it. Only in a fantasy (or in a language course) can you have a story line where Esperanto is spoken as a matter of course, as if it is the mother tongue of everyone in the entire movie. The Esperanto in Incubus was good enough, but a realistic portrayal (in another movie) might have (a minority of) people using it as their second or third language to communicate cross-culturally.

  • Is that William Shatner doing the voiceover?

  • No. Doesn't sound even remotely like him.

  • Ankaŭ mi aĉetis ĝin, sed la prononco ja estis melbela!

  • Why would William Shatner do a voiceover? _Anyone_ can do that!

  • Oddly enough I saw this on US TV a few years back.

  • is it really in esperanto?

  • Yes! It is famous for being the only Hollywood feature film made *entirely* in Esperanto. Even the director's instructions were exclusively in Esperanto, which apparently caused confusion at times, as everyone had only done a crash course in Esperanto shortly before commencing the movie!

  • Satanic sacrifices, ressurection of the cdead, and WILLIAM SHATNER!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! XD

  • And gorgeous blondes!

Ann Atmar, who played Marc's (William Shatner) sister Arndis, committed suicide just a few months after this picture was made. The actress who played Kia, Allyson Ames, was married to writer-director Leslie Stevens at the time. She's still alive.

They were both classic Nordic beauties who helped give "Incubus" its early Ingmar Bergman feeling.

  • It pisses me off that the subtitles are inside a black bar

  • The only copy was keep in Cinémathèque Française with french subtitle on the copy, so they use black bar to cover it.

  • @TheForgottenFlesh I think that's to cover the French subtitles.

  • Mi elŝutis ĝin en Emule!!! BONEGE :D

  • christo?

  • hello dennis miller ... this film looks like a winner; what's your opinion

  • Laka ti zemlja Miloše.

  • Mi devas posedi tiun!

  • La kino tute ne min teruris.

  • Superfikita

  • good job, windstar home video.

  • Must... see.. this...
