Strange,,, but if you really listen to the sound of that Flat 12 in that 917?

It kinda sound's like the old Auto Union's of the late 30's.

with thier mechanical sounding valve lash,

and the whine of the high lift Cam's.

German engine's alway's seem to sound really gutterall,

and low tone.

even the DB 605 in the Messershmitt 109 sound's low and gutteral too.

Interesting detail's about german racing engine's.

I touched that car, and a 962, at the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia. Vic Elford gave us a nice run in the car. :)

no, the official number of porsches at the 2007 Rennsport Reunion... you misunderstood.

the official number was 17... at least according to magazines. I got a picture with 8 (and another with a touch of 9 - slight front rounded fender) in one shot. There were 26 956/962s as well.
