Ritas role is to be a voice of reason- characters who serve this purpose are almost always the most badmouthed on the fansites, even if they're rated as one of the most popular characters. In fact, about the only time they aren't is if another character is so annoying or offensive that the fans are demaning an episode where their head's on a plate.
