The only change I liked in DA2 was the attack style. I'm not a fan of auto attack. (Makes me sleepy.) Kirkwall sucked a big deal. What about Starkhaven? What about the rest of the Free Marches? Before DA2 came out, I was actually hoping to see Orlais. Also, the character Hawke...He's not a bad character, but was he/she your only option? No dwarf? no elf? no qunari option? As for DA3, I'm to see more the Quinari Gaatlok. Maybe an option to introduce guns/cannon in the game.
Dragon age 2 was rushed and cut a tits load of corners. Dungeons, and buildings were all the same on the inside, and that lead to very predictable fights, traps/treasure placement, etc. As far as the combat style was concerned, I enjoyed it a lot. It's more "pick and choose" and less "watch and see if you're fucked or not." Dragon Age:O overall seemed more complete and thought out, and Dragon Age 2 was just a sequel for sequel's sake. On an ending note, the dialogue that you're given during con
should have keep the story line and charater choices of the first but the fight style and cutscenes of the second maybe even add sum play style of reckoning
@unholydude101 you already can, just go into options, then gameplay or something and then choose, i think its called continuous attack or something but it allows you to fight like in DA: O
For me I can look past the lack of access and customizability if it has a really good story. For example, Origins had a great story with characters that I loved. They felt real in a way that I couldn't help but be intrigued and root for them, and for DA2, I just didn't really care about the characters. they, while have there moments at times, did not live up to same level of quality as its predecessor.
People keep saying to bring Morrigan back, they really shouldn't. I like how her story ended on a cliffhanger with the Warden in Witch Hunt, please don't ruin it unless you plan to continue Witch Hunt using the ending in which you follow her through the Eldunari.
The main thing with Dragon age 2 (in my opinion) the story was too quick and a little too boring for me, well compared to battling the Archdemon, ya know! Also the areas were the same and there were too few areas. However the new combat technique was pretty epic so if they use a bigger story and better areas like with DA:O but combat from DA2 along with a few new things like the Frostbite 2 engine their using (AWESOME) it will be a freakin' awesome game :D
One of the focuses of Origins was a hark back to the old school rpg! The spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and for the most part it worked! DAII was a rushed experiment! Combat was ok! The dialogue wheel was lazy and limiting compared to the amount of choices you had in Origins! Considering you had the whole of Ferelden to explore and learned about Orlais, and other areas of Thedas you would have thought they'd expand on it not keep you stuck in a castle! and let you explore the beach!
In my opinion, they only need to take some combat animations from DA2 and all the rest they can take from Origins, even the dialogue. I dont mind if the main character isnt fully voiced, as long as we can focus on interesting companions and side characters like in Origins. As for the combat, I liked it slow, specially for the mages. It made choosing spells a harder decision and made you pause the game a lot more for planning and issuing orders.
I actually preferred DA2, Ive replayed it quite a few times but with the first one I only played through once. But I like the idea of marrying them together, I just hope they make the 3rd one epic, and long lasting. And bring back Morrigan!!
I thought the style of DA2 was sooo much better than DAO. I loved both games but as for combat, DA2 is better in my opinion because you can sort of feel the power behind each shot or slash as opposed to the auto attack feature in DAO that was kinda boring and seemed very slow too. Keep the awesome combat features from DA2!
@Dreadmantisthe2nd hey another retard can u actually read ?? does it say i want thumbs up i just hate bitches that talk about games pretend they like only to attract those fucking desperate faggs like you retard
Dragon Age II was a complete and utter disappointment. You practically never leave Kirkwall, nothing that you do in the 3 acts contributes to a meaningful main plot and I strongly disapproved of the new gameplay mechanics when the combat from Origins worked so much better. The awesome main theme was underplayed, the plot was non-existent and most of my previous actions as Warden had no impact whatsoever on Hawke.
Dragon Age is dead for me unless Bioware cleans up its act.
what i hated the most about DA2 was it was so limited what they should have done is what they did in DA:O have many races with there own backstorys in DA2 it was the same story over and over again and unlike DA:O with it having many endings...DA2 only had 2 so if they wanna make DA3 the best they can then they should combined DA2 fighting system and voice overs (but add more voices so we can pick which voice we like) with DA:O multi races and story telling and plz dont change how the people look
I loved DA2 combat was awesome just hated you couldn't give companions your armor but DA2 I could set up some strategy also I felt epic when fighting something DA1 felt meh I would run up to something spam spells like I loved you could make a DW warrior but fighting itself wasn't the greatest
I didn't like the fact that I couldn't give my companions the armor I bought or aquiered from battles but I did like the new battle system. I also liked that the main character actually SPOKE. Also, I liked the Origins part better where I could speak with my companions at almost ALL times. Still, I liked DA2 better but I could do with a lot more Darkspawn :) And I do hope we get to keep Varric XD
As long as I get to play as my Wardens get Leliana and Morrigan back, beat up Hawke, tall dark skined purple eyed Qunari, Varric, a city thats worth saving, an actual story and ending thats not just build up for the next game, I'm fine. what?, too much? fine I'll take back the Hawke part.
@TheOnlySonicFan I agree. I hated the ending in DAII and Hawke sucked! I think the worst part of DAII was the story. That's what made origins so good. Origins was dark and scary. The over the top animations and combat in DAII made it ridiculus and I couldn't worry about the blight or Qunari when I could simply triple flip into a spin and light the ground on fire in a four mile radius. In DA:O 10 darkspawn were a challenge. In DAII they were a joke.
@GonnaBeALongLongTime I understand what they tried to do with the story of DA2 they tried to make it personal with the family I think that much was done well not to mention the party members would actually bond with each other more so than in Origins but the main story was all over even worse some of the side missions were more interesting than the main ones. Is it wrong of me to pretend that DA2 has a different story than what was given to us?
I liked the faster combat with DA2, but Origins was certainly amazing with the option to almost constantly talk to companions. Mmm, what if there was a way to be like 'how do you feel about what's going down atm?' when you talk to them? I also liked rivalry better than disapproval, but DA:O will always be superior with characters and plot. We need more Darkspawn, more Grey Wardening! Faster combat, dialogue, and Grey Wardening. That's how they'll get me.
Personaly I hated the DA II armors, so few choice and I didn't like them, exept the Champion-armor. That one looked badass. Overall, I liked Origins better, more interaction with companions, even though you didn't take them with you. It was easier to manage and more fun, I did like the differences between the races in DA II, but you could only play one race, and I did really miss that.
@MrBzerk22 Do some simple research before you spout off nonsense about something you know nothing about. Only 10 years have passed between the ending of Origins and DA II. And you're even trying correct somebody else! Hilarious but annoying.
Dragon one was a great if short game, but number two was nothing more than a hack and slash type of beat em up common in Japan they totally ruined it and it's because of this that I knew Bioware would ruin mass effect, like dragon age they stripped virtually all of the RPG elements out of it to appeal to the masses,if they make a 3 I hope they will make it more like an RPG,but I have my doubts.
DA2 needed more of a save the world feel, all you were doing was trying to get money to live away from the darkspawn, and you happened to become a champion in the process. The game needed a more dire world in chaos feeling, we only got to fight darkspawn in the beginning, everything else was the same crap, Templars, Blood Mages, Demons, and Abomonations, with a few dragons.
They should make the game LIKE dragon age origins, it had more heart wrenching scenes. The conversation scenes in dragon age 2 were good but not very dynamic, a combination of them all would defiantly be awesome and we should be able to be different classes as well , and last have all the characters in it, would be cool if you could interact with them like the fist dragon age, and see your grey warden from DA1
if any thing the combat style and skill tree from DA2 should stay as auto-attack is just a pain in the arse-_- from DAO the story and ability to customize ur team should stay as well. if any thing for the finnally they should have your grey warden and the champion meet up with a new character in orles to stop something something. just an idea... plus let us be qunari or bring back the ELVES !!!
@MrBzerk22 If that was the case, then why does King Alistar / Queen Anora turn up at the Keep halfway through Dragon Age 2? DA2 was set over a period of 10 years or so if I'm not mistaken. Those years interlap with DA:O. I mean you start off running away from the SAME Blight the Hero of Fereldan eventually stops at the start of Dragon Age 2.
I personally prefer DA2 by quite a bit... I will admit the lack of loot was unfortunate, but I definitely feel the character development was the best of any RPG I've ever seen in DA2. As long as they keep that up, I don't much care what they do... That said, I certainly enjoyed the combat in DA2 more, although more tactics focus would be welcome.
DA2 would have been better received by fans if they gave Bioware's dev team more time. If each area was hand-crafted - more textures, more different types of areas, and every area using its own level design rather than using the same ones over and over - I'm sure the story and gameplay would have been better and less repetitive. I also think letting us have an overview camera on the PC would have smoothed things over for us more too.
I like DA2, I completely hated DAO because of the fighting moves- they really sucked, like in the worst way. Furthermore it was an over excessive amount of information and levels for the characters to be moving so slow in DAO it seemed like some one took 15 years of wondering how to make a game and given the opportunity made DAO. Dont get me wrong DA2 isn't that far better than DAO, but at least the fight movements were very real:-).
They should take the combat style and level menu of dragon age II, the social aspects of Dragon age: Origins, and combining them. Also, they should make it to where you can play a Koshiik (not sure if spelled right), or choose to be a Qun, part of the Chantry, or follow the elves religion.
P.S. A Koshiik is the horned beasts that most people think of when they say the Qun.
For Dragon Age 3 ( SPOILERS). I believe it should about the Qunari Invasion (Sten in DAO said it would happen). The Arishok in DA2 even said that "1 day we shall return" ). And due to the events with the templars and the mages in DA2. The invasion will be devastating.
PS Sten from Dragon Age Origins should return but this time as an Arishok.
If they use the same graphics, fighting action, and being able to hear your character's voice from dragon age, but make the rest of the game more like origins (shops, menus, being able to use as many potions as you need without having to wait in between) they could have an awesome game.
People that think of DA2 as strictly worse then DAO (including me) do so because they dumbed down the game. It felt more then a hack and slash game for 13 yo console players rather then an RPG. Also, the inabillity to really customize the party and the story taking place in one city city made me chuckly. Some could say its exciting to live in an everchanging city affected by your decisions...I say they pushed an unfinished product. Less locations less time to develop the game.
@cmudo18 I actually liked not having to mess around with the party member's armor and all that stuff. They definitely did run out of time though. Still, I thought certain aspects of the DA2 were better than DA1 (I liked the faster paced battles, but hated the how single dimension some of the characters were)
If they take the fighting style and being able to hear you characters voice in DA2, the extremely detailed storyline, and all the different maps and locations of DA:O. they would really make the BEST RPG game out there today!
DA3 should keep the Dragon age 2 combat but make it more tactical like in origins. I thought the combat in dragon age origins was good but a little boring.
Dragon Age Origins is so much better than DA 2. I mean, what the hell happened? What were they thinking?
In Origins I feel as if Im drawn into the game's world, and I can't set the controller down. I just want to play more and find out what happens, level up my characters, sleep with all my female companions, etc.
Dragon Age 2 was alright. But it'll never be as good as Origins imo.
i will now give my opinions about dragon age 2 and Origins based on story, gameplay and quality of the games.
-Origins had a awesome story about how the you have to save the world for the darkspawn, now one more thing i loved about the story in Origins is that u could choose how to start your story.the game play of the game made it so that u couldn't just charge in and kill all your enemies at once u hade to play your moves.as for the quality of the game one of the best games i ever played
-Dragon age 2 you are more focus on what is happening in your life instead of what is going on in the world, witch i think is a lot beater then having to deal with enemies every 2 sec, you are not fighting darkspawn except a bit in the beginning of the game.as for the gameplay it hasen't changed much and i like it a lot more the the gameplay in Origins. as for the quality of the game it is awesome and i cant wait to see what they will do in Dragon age 3
DAO had the majority of everything right ability to venture more, more customization options (making your player more personal/ armor equipping), and more paths to take thought the game that have a sigificant effect on outcome (which btw set up DAA up beautifully) . What DA2 got right was the combat way more interactive not just hitting A, X ,Y, B every now and then ...regardless if the creators really take tha fan opinions to heart DA3 has great promise lets hope they get it right
i respect and love them both thoroughly, i can understand why they made certain changes in DA2 from DA:O so im not bitching, i think a combination of the two will be brilliant!
I honestly don't see how anyone could hate da2. Sure, it was much different, but it was still dragonage. What were you hoping for, the same thing that happened with fallout 3 and new vegas? If they stuck to the same engine and battle system, you guys would complain that there was nothing new.
mass effect 3 is very much like dragon age just the opposite obviosly theres the fantacy and futureistic. and also the order dragon age O was basically what ME3 is going to be you fight a deciding battle at the start which sets the theme and then gather an army making harsh choices throughout. in dragon age this can effect the next two games. And ME3 is the outher 2 games deciding the story of the last.
people that like origins fight system so much more then 2s only like it because it is easier da2 took way more skill then dao because you had to do more then just figure out timing i mean both are great but i prefer a challenge if i wanted easy id play katamary or ff13 but thats just a personal opinion
i think dragon age origins had the better storyline but i also preferred the new combat in dragon age 2. so i think they should stick to the combat in dragon age 2 and do another storyline with the arch-demon. but if their are players who preferred the the first dragon age combat then they should put both combat systems in the game allowing you to choose which one you want to use. also i think they should put both characters into the next making it available to play online co-op. could work :)
i love dragon age origins and dragon age 2 i thought the plot line is good i was hooked for ages im still hooked now so i hope D,A3 will be good!!!!!!1
You cannot discriminate one game which is better or not games tweaking and fixing areas you believe the audience will like.Dragon Age origins was a great game. It had a very developed story that could go many ways in the beginning and in the end which makes it compelling. i will agree that the romance part of the story was better in dragon age origins. in the sense of how it was set up the gamer felt they had more control over the games progress in the sense of simplicity,
and how the characters progressed with their skills.Dragon age 2 had a better deeper story which focuses on specific relationship which i can only helps gamers have a deeper knowledge for the next game. And in my opinion i enjoyed more the fighting style in the 2 because i felt like i was actually fighting. Also my opinion if you think the game sucked don't comment because your wasting your time and the people who want to improve the game. many of you need to learn how to critique constructively
I liked DAO best, but od course DA2 had its goodies too. The combat speed for instance. It was rather slow in DAO, but in DA2 it was a little overwelming. I had to pause it much to get control. When it comes to interaction i kinda liked the DA2 style. On DAO i suddenly pressed a sarcastic phrase and ruined everything. Much easier on DA2. Characters in DA3 should be: Morrigan, Isabella, Oghren, Varric, Velanna and Leliana.
my points: 1.item use as in DAO,in DA2 you have options for destroying or moving it to junk only that makes using things like a bomb more difficult. 2.bring back foe name coloring, its really cool. 3.in resistances(eg. fire) use % instead of 1458 etc. 4.please dont give symbols to indicate which dialogue means what, that takes away all the fun.options of dialogue should also be increased.5.bring back choices for companion armor as in DAO. 6.make sure we can see how our choices affect the world.
DA:O combat was fine, it just needed some refinement.. Not a complete overhaul (which is what DA 2 did). Not that DA2 combat was terrible, it just wasnt really DA anymore, it was like Ninja Gaiden with a lot of pausing
combat system of DA 2, being able 2 choose companion armor, simply being able to talk to companions without special circumstance or location, bring back the romance LET US INTERACT WHEN WE WANT JUST LIKE DA:ORIGINS, i wanna also play after i beat the game and not be stuck at camp, hawke's residence, or any other boring place, i wanna be able to jus mess around, i'd also love to see some 2-controller co-op, make the story long again like origins cause i dont want to beat it in 3 or 4 days. THANX
i liked both origins and 2, combat was better in 2 and the travel was also simplified, one thing i did not like was the item packs u could buy and the story was very short... but the hawke part was nice, dragon age origins was better altogether tho, only thing i really hated was 2 handed combat and also that of the mage.
I dearly want to play my Warden Queen again in new content - after all those hours of work in DA:O and Awakenings I miss playing her. I liked the combat system of DA 2, but miss the RP aspect of Origins, from choosing companion armor to simply being able to talk to them without special circumstance or location. It was more full-immersion RP and I miss that. And yes, I'll say it - bring back the romance! Not just an end-of-quest cutscene either - let us interact when we want like Origins please!
i think that da2 was a bit short i mean at the end they leave you wondering what the hell happened to hawke and the gameplay is really short espesially if you are a mlg like me
@monsterbaconvideo I know right, that ending was like being punched in the face. The group splits up without saying why or where. The story was way to rushed, going from the deeproads to Qunari incursion to the fight between the Templars and Mages. Not much build. But I did like the skill trees for each class and character, for me that was a nice addition. And the combat was better if played as mage or rogue, cross class combos were great for critical damage and teamwork.
Some things I liked better in Origins, some I liked better in DAII, but mostly, I prefer Origins. For one thing, I understand companions having preferred attire, and that's fine, but what's the point of getting all this good armor if you can only put it on your main character? For another, I like the fact that Warriors and Rogues are actually different in DAII. And lastly, I didn't care for their final design, but I do like that elves were made to look different from humans in DAII.
@OzaiFan I mean, in Origins, if you play a Two-Weapon Warrior or a Two-Weapon Rogue, the only difference in combat comes down to either doing massive damage through high Strength and a good weapon in each hand or the same but through backstabbing and getting into position to do so. At least in DAII, you have fighting styles exclusive to each class and you actually get abilities in each class for them to control the battle in their own way.
@OzaiFan Yes, but it ended with archer's gameplay being completely inexistent... I mean, I tried but I didn't have as much to do than in Origins and was constantly jealous of Varric's set of abilities...
i LOVED the gameplay of dragon age 2, what i disliked was the few bugs, like for example killing a high dragon in mid-air causing you to miss out on looting the champion armor and the fact that when you first start the game, you somehow aren't able to change your character's name. Still, gameplay, and story were awesome. gameplay was a bit slow on dragon age 1, but the storyline and characters, not to mention the romance made them worthy.
I don't think that making hawke or the warden as playable characters is a good idea. They need a new hero, with the depth hawke had but with the companions with more depth. More variety in the environments, make the Players role in the events more crucial (If the Champion hadn't been there, Merideth or Orsino would have killed the Arishok, and they would have had the same outcome in there little brawl. I hated Anders and fenris by the way, because there was no character arc for either.
I think this should explain how good DA2 was in my opinion. In 3 days i played 44 hours.... Crazy huh.... Finished the game like twice.. GET DA2 as well as DAO, YOU WONT REGRET!!!!!!
I missed playing my Origins character. I like being an Elf/Dwarf. DA2 didn't have that which made it less fun and entertaining for me.. but I still liked it.
what they should do is stick to the dragon age origins and make it much bigger and complex, origins was like final fantasy 12 but smaller, dragon age 2 was..annoying
I Personally enjoyed both of the games. 2 could have had a better story line, but I enjoyed the gameplay and the characters. I did like the fact that you could pick the race of your character in the first one because Elves are AWESOME. I also liked how hawke talked in 2, and the romance system was much easier. :)
*sigh* I don't care for the DA games anymore, I mean I never liked the gameplay on DAO but the story was good. DA2's gameplay was little bit more improved but the story and everything else sucks. And for the next game... I don't care anymore. True every game has their own flaws but DA I cannot stand for some reason. Heck, Kingom of Amalur: Reckoning is more appealing than those two worthless waste of talents.
For telling the truth y'all, I loved DAO, very much. But not 2. It wasn't that good. Few areas and it would be better if it was Action-RPG I believe. But I think DA3 will be the best game ever:)
I F*CKING LOVE DRAGON AGE!!!! I really hope there will be a DA3!! :D But I hope there will be more and more varied locations! :/ AND we should be able to play either our former characters OR at least see them! I also hope the sex scenes will be better! I BELIEVE IN YOU BIOWARE!! You can make this happen! :D I LOVE the details and stories in the games so I think the 3rd game will be super exiting! :D
DA2 has a much more 'console-y' feel. I play on the PC and do not really like hitting the "x" (esc) button to get to different screens. I like the ease of having the small and unobtrusive tool bar at the top of the screen. Hated what they did to the elves, though some love it: they look like rodents to me. Pleh. LOVE the speed of battle and some of the new moves. Suddenly two-handed weapons are fun, so slow and clunky in DA:O, though better interaction with companions. Origins flows better.
I thought da2 was a good game mainly because of isabella being so damn sexy and the combat system but i think bioware should have both heroes from each DA and let you play as both in da3 and of course bring isabellas fine ass back
hmm i liked the onld style but ive played hack andslash based games before i played DA so..im up for either/ or to be honest. but if i had to choose id say DA2 style. it was different and it sure its something not many people like. But i play games for the story first then the game play.
DA2 was basically stripped down to a hack and slash the way ME2 was stripped down into a shooter. Honestly, it got to the point where the only reason I wanted to finish DA2 was so I could complete my romance with Merril, points for you there bioware!
i love redheads. DA2 had impressive fight mechanics(being made for console players), shitty story and shittier twists, with repetitive quests on same dungeons over and over. Implementing a rather non working convo wheel just to make your character flesh out more, made Dragon Age 2 less RPG(since you cant create your protagonist) and more streamlined action. I understand and I know it works for Mass Effect since ME borders and joins hard elements of shooter and soft elements of role play, here no.
If they took back old characters like Morrigan, Alistair, sten, Oghren etc, made a second blight(or atleast something more epic than walking around in a fucking city!) and have a epic enviroment and large map like Da:o, then I will forgive Bioware for Da2 :)
Honestly, I would like to see the Warden and Hawke in a final conflict involving the mage vs. templar conflict, whichever side Hawke chose, the Warden would be on the other, and you can choose who you would want to be. I don't know what they would do but I think that would be pretty sweet.
I didnt like the combat style of da2 plus the fact that "Hawk" already had a preset image and you cant change the voice so if you wanted to have a different sort of character the voice sometimes wouldn't really sound good with the look of your character and the fact that you couldnt really talk to your compainions like you could in DA:O (Just my opinion though so try not to hate me for it) :P
While I loved DA:O and liked DA:2 I'm just gonna have to say overall Mass Effect is the better of the 2 series. Simply for the fact that you take one central character you raise your way from one game to the next rather than the jumbled mess you get with jumping around from DA:O Warden to DA:2 Hawke. As it stands DA 2 will probably be my last outting with Dragon Age as I just like how they handled Mass Effect so much better player character and story wise.
the only way they could do this right is if they take mostly every element from origins and add the speed of attacking from the sequel and combine them together to make a better game.
DA2 cant compete against origins story wise. I felt like the Origins story pulled me in. And in DA2 already had the story laid out for you to play which isnt as good. When your able to grow with the character feel the emotions that your character is feeling that is the best. Dont get me wrong I liked DA2's combat system, but i could deal with origins. Same with final fantasy 13; they made the same mistake of laying out the plot; that caused me to like FF10 better than the 13th. Good luckwith DA3
I loved Origins. I meh'd at DA2 but I still liked it as far as I played. Never got the chance to finish it since my computer crashed though... And I couldn't be arsed to re-install it... Never went back to DAO either =/ Anyways, a possible DA3 should be interesting. From what the wikia states the Warden and Hawke apperantly have a linked fate. Maybe we'll get to see them in DA3? It's gonna be exciting to see what BioWare has planned, though I forsee alot plot twists.
Oh, and the fact that I could hear my character is a big plus... I hate to be the silent type that talks with his hands, instead of using... you know.. his voice...
I liked DA:O a lot and I liked DA2 too.. the first because of the story, the characters, choosing your origin etc etc... I liked the second because of the hack 'n slash style gameplay, since I play on a ps3.. I like to hit the enemy when I press a button, not press the button once and just watch as my character pwns him, waiting for me to unleash a special power... hopefully it'll be like origins, but with the button mash..
@BigMisterApple origins with button mashing,... is DA2... they are basically the same game with the same general combat idea, its just DA:O made it look more like an rpg while DA2 just wanted to make it more fast paced and more hack and slash then an actual rpg
Well Dragon age isnt as good compared to elder scroll games they have way more detail plus dragon age is a not no where near anywhere to become a good RPG
A Combination of the good elements of the 2 Games... well the Graphical Style of DA2 was amazing, but DA:O had the better story, and I loved how you could create a character from every race, hopefully in the next one we can also create a Qunari.
i loved both games, i initially didnt like the combat in DA2 but it grew on me and its not alll that different then dragon age orgins. my only problem with DA2 is the ending, it was like they didnt now how to finish it and just kinda came up with something lame, and it was really easy. killing the archdeamon was way harder than DA2 ending
DA2 and DAO are both brilliant, but your got to admit that DA2 is WAY better the DAO
I think for DA3 they should keep the combat and art style the same as in DA2 but not have to play as a single characters life story ever time you play a new game, there needs to be lots of variety in voice actor range (like in Skyrim) and story paths, so there always something new and different depending on what your character says.
but keep the convo wheel too, the list thing they did in DAO sucked
The only change I liked in DA2 was the attack style. I'm not a fan of auto attack. (Makes me sleepy.) Kirkwall sucked a big deal. What about Starkhaven? What about the rest of the Free Marches? Before DA2 came out, I was actually hoping to see Orlais. Also, the character Hawke...He's not a bad character, but was he/she your only option? No dwarf? no elf? no qunari option? As for DA3, I'm to see more the Quinari Gaatlok. Maybe an option to introduce guns/cannon in the game.

People keep saying to bring Morrigan back, they really shouldn't. I like how her story ended on a cliffhanger with the Warden in Witch Hunt, please don't ruin it unless you plan to continue Witch Hunt using the ending in which you follow her through the Eldunari.

subdude100 5 days ago
The main thing with Dragon age 2 (in my opinion) the story was too quick and a little too boring for me, well compared to battling the Archdemon, ya know! Also the areas were the same and there were too few areas. However the new combat technique was pretty epic so if they use a bigger story and better areas like with DA:O but combat from DA2 along with a few new things like the Frostbite 2 engine their using (AWESOME) it will be a freakin' awesome game :D

beaverfeaver12 6 days ago
One of the focuses of Origins was a hark back to the old school rpg! The spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and for the most part it worked! DAII was a rushed experiment! Combat was ok! The dialogue wheel was lazy and limiting compared to the amount of choices you had in Origins! Considering you had the whole of Ferelden to explore and learned about Orlais, and other areas of Thedas you would have thought they'd expand on it not keep you stuck in a castle! and let you explore the beach!
TheHoffman87 6 days ago
In my opinion, they only need to take some combat animations from DA2 and all the rest they can take from Origins, even the dialogue. I dont mind if the main character isnt fully voiced, as long as we can focus on interesting companions and side characters like in Origins. As for the combat, I liked it slow, specially for the mages. It made choosing spells a harder decision and made you pause the game a lot more for planning and issuing orders.
KaimonJRE 6 days ago
I actually preferred DA2, Ive replayed it quite a few times but with the first one I only played through once. But I like the idea of marrying them together, I just hope they make the 3rd one epic, and long lasting. And bring back Morrigan!!

The only thing bad about DA2 was the story.... It feelt like it had nothing to do with DRAGON AGE
Kalupz 1 week ago
I thought the style of DA2 was sooo much better than DAO. I loved both games but as for combat, DA2 is better in my opinion because you can sort of feel the power behind each shot or slash as opposed to the auto attack feature in DAO that was kinda boring and seemed very slow too. Keep the awesome combat features from DA2!

DmdRonin 1 week ago
I didn't like the fact that I couldn't give my companions the armor I bought or aquiered from battles but I did like the new battle system. I also liked that the main character actually SPOKE. Also, I liked the Origins part better where I could speak with my companions at almost ALL times. Still, I liked DA2 better but I could do with a lot more Darkspawn :) And I do hope we get to keep Varric XD
TheDarkswordswoman 1 week ago
I made a connection with the characters in origins but DA2 was a tad ridiculous. It was nowhere near as serious as origins and I missed Morrigan :(
Nynja123TRT 1 week ago
As long as I get to play as my Wardens get Leliana and Morrigan back, beat up Hawke, tall dark skined purple eyed Qunari, Varric, a city thats worth saving, an actual story and ending thats not just build up for the next game, I'm fine. what?, too much? fine I'll take back the Hawke part.
TheOnlySonicFan 1 week ago 2
@TheOnlySonicFan I agree. I hated the ending in DAII and Hawke sucked! I think the worst part of DAII was the story. That's what made origins so good. Origins was dark and scary. The over the top animations and combat in DAII made it ridiculus and I couldn't worry about the blight or Qunari when I could simply triple flip into a spin and light the ground on fire in a four mile radius. In DA:O 10 darkspawn were a challenge. In DAII they were a joke.
GonnaBeALongLongTime 1 week ago 2
@GonnaBeALongLongTime I understand what they tried to do with the story of DA2 they tried to make it personal with the family I think that much was done well not to mention the party members would actually bond with each other more so than in Origins but the main story was all over even worse some of the side missions were more interesting than the main ones. Is it wrong of me to pretend that DA2 has a different story than what was given to us?
TheOnlySonicFan 4 days ago
I liked dragon age origen better 2 was boring
StoneManySly69 1 week ago
I liked the faster combat with DA2, but Origins was certainly amazing with the option to almost constantly talk to companions. Mmm, what if there was a way to be like 'how do you feel about what's going down atm?' when you talk to them? I also liked rivalry better than disapproval, but DA:O will always be superior with characters and plot. We need more Darkspawn, more Grey Wardening! Faster combat, dialogue, and Grey Wardening. That's how they'll get me.
LynaMahariel 1 week ago
Personaly I hated the DA II armors, so few choice and I didn't like them, exept the Champion-armor. That one looked badass. Overall, I liked Origins better, more interaction with companions, even though you didn't take them with you. It was easier to manage and more fun, I did like the differences between the races in DA II, but you could only play one race, and I did really miss that.
MrHadesI 1 week ago
@MrBzerk22 Do some simple research before you spout off nonsense about something you know nothing about. Only 10 years have passed between the ending of Origins and DA II. And you're even trying correct somebody else! Hilarious but annoying.
opiumsick 1 week ago
Dragon one was a great if short game, but number two was nothing more than a hack and slash type of beat em up common in Japan they totally ruined it and it's because of this that I knew Bioware would ruin mass effect, like dragon age they stripped virtually all of the RPG elements out of it to appeal to the masses,if they make a 3 I hope they will make it more like an RPG,but I have my doubts.
lonelycyclist 1 week ago
DA2 needed more of a save the world feel, all you were doing was trying to get money to live away from the darkspawn, and you happened to become a champion in the process. The game needed a more dire world in chaos feeling, we only got to fight darkspawn in the beginning, everything else was the same crap, Templars, Blood Mages, Demons, and Abomonations, with a few dragons.
Icu282 1 week ago
They should make the game LIKE dragon age origins, it had more heart wrenching scenes. The conversation scenes in dragon age 2 were good but not very dynamic, a combination of them all would defiantly be awesome and we should be able to be different classes as well , and last have all the characters in it, would be cool if you could interact with them like the fist dragon age, and see your grey warden from DA1
HolySpiritt10 1 week ago

if any thing the combat style and skill tree from DA2 should stay as auto-attack is just a pain in the arse-_- from DAO the story and ability to customize ur team should stay as well. if any thing for the finnally they should have your grey warden and the champion meet up with a new character in orles to stop something something. just an idea... plus let us be qunari or bring back the ELVES !!!
darkknightmage 1 week ago
@darkknightmage "if any thing for the finnally they should have your grey warden and the champion meet up"
That would be a bit problematic, since DA:Origin and DA:II is apart by a couple of hundred years.
MrBzerk22 1 week ago
@MrBzerk22 If that was the case, then why does King Alistar / Queen Anora turn up at the Keep halfway through Dragon Age 2? DA2 was set over a period of 10 years or so if I'm not mistaken. Those years interlap with DA:O. I mean you start off running away from the SAME Blight the Hero of Fereldan eventually stops at the start of Dragon Age 2.
DelinquentGames 1 week ago
I personally prefer DA2 by quite a bit... I will admit the lack of loot was unfortunate, but I definitely feel the character development was the best of any RPG I've ever seen in DA2. As long as they keep that up, I don't much care what they do... That said, I certainly enjoyed the combat in DA2 more, although more tactics focus would be welcome.
AStrangeWindmill 2 weeks ago

Who's for a Qunari avalanche.

If they use the same graphics, fighting action, and being able to hear your character's voice from dragon age, but make the rest of the game more like origins (shops, menus, being able to use as many potions as you need without having to wait in between) they could have an awesome game.
fetusfox 2 weeks ago
People that think of DA2 as strictly worse then DAO (including me) do so because they dumbed down the game. It felt more then a hack and slash game for 13 yo console players rather then an RPG. Also, the inabillity to really customize the party and the story taking place in one city city made me chuckly. Some could say its exciting to live in an everchanging city affected by your decisions...I say they pushed an unfinished product. Less locations less time to develop the game.
cmudo18 2 weeks ago 21
@cmudo18 I actually liked not having to mess around with the party member's armor and all that stuff. They definitely did run out of time though. Dragon Age Origins is so much better than DA 2. I mean, what the hell happened? What were they thinking?
In Origins I feel as if Im drawn into the game's world, and I can't set the controller down. I just want to play more and find out what happens, level up my characters, sleep with all my female companions, etc.

i will now give my opinions about dragon age 2 and Origins based on story, gameplay and quality of the games.
TheJoyboy27 3 weeks ago
-Dragon age 2 you are more focus on what is happening in your life instead of what is going on in the world, witch i think is a lot beater then having to deal with enemies every 2 sec, you are not fighting darkspawn except a bit in the beginning of the game.as for the gameplay it hasen't changed much and i like it a lot more the the gameplay in Origins. as for the quality of the game it is awesome and i cant wait to see what they will do in Dragon age 3
TheJoyboy27 3 weeks ago
DAO had the majority of everything right ability to venture more, more customization options (making your player more personal/ armor equipping), and more paths to take thought the game that have a sigificant effect on outcome (which btw set up DAA up beautifully) . What DA2 got right was the combat way more interactive not just hitting A, X ,Y, B every now and then ...regardless if the creators really take tha fan opinions to heart DA3 has great promise lets hope they get it right

mass effect 3 is very much like dragon age just the opposite obviosly theres the fantacy and futureistic. and also the order dragon age O was basically what ME3 is going to be you fight a deciding battle at the start which sets the theme and then gather an army making harsh choices throughout. in dragon age this can effect the next two games. And ME3 is the outher 2 games deciding the story of the last.

i think dragon age origins had the better storyline but i also preferred the new combat in dragon age 2. so i think they should stick to the combat in dragon age 2 and do another storyline with the arch-demon. but if their are players who preferred the the first dragon age combat then they should put both combat systems in the game allowing you to choose which one you want to use. also i think they should put both characters into the next making it available to play online co-op. could work :)

You cannot discriminate one game which is better or not games tweaking and fixing areas you believe the audience will like.Dragon Age origins was a great game. It had a very developed story that could go many ways in the beginning and in the end which makes it compelling. i will agree that the romance part of the story was better in dragon age origins. in the sense of how it was set up the gamer felt they had more control over the games progress in the sense of simplicity,
xibk18ix 3 weeks ago
and how the characters progressed with their skills.Dragon age 2 had a better deeper story which focuses on specific relationship which i can only helps gamers have a deeper knowledge for the next game.

1vandread 3 weeks ago
Some things I liked better in Origins, some I liked better in DAII, but mostly, I prefer Origins. For one thing, I understand companions having preferred attire, and that's fine, but what's the point of getting all this good armor if you can only put it on your main character? For another, I like the fact that Warriors and Rogues are actually different in DAII. And lastly, I didn't care for their final design, but I do like that elves were made to look different from humans in DAII.
OzaiFan 1 month ago 19
@OzaiFan I mean, in Origins, if you play a Two-Weapon Warrior or a Two-Weapon Rogue, the only difference in combat comes down to either doing massive damage through high Strength and a good weapon in each hand or the same but through backstabbing and getting into position to do so. At least in DAII, you have fighting styles exclusive to each class and you actually get abilities in each class for them to control the battle in their own way.

i LOVED the gameplay of dragon age 2, what i disliked was the few bugs, like for example killing a high dragon in mid-air causing you to miss out on looting the champion armor and the fact that when you first start the game, you somehow aren't able to change your character's name.

DA2s combat system and DA1s story,nothing else

hmm i liked the onld style but ive played hack andslash based games before i played DA so..im up for either/ or to be honest. but if i had to choose id say DA2 style. it was different and it sure its something not many people like.

I loved DA2 but yes the recycled map locals were a bummer but i thought the combat was Great and the format was stylish and up to date.

If they took back old characters like Morrigan, Alistair, sten, Oghren etc, made a second blight(or atleast something more epic than walking around in a fucking city!) and have a epic enviroment and large map like Da:o, then I will forgive Bioware for Da2 :)

MAKE THEM STICK WITH ORIGINS!!!! The original was gold before DA2 fucked it over by giving the warrior and the rogue the ability to godmod.

Karoar12118 1 month ago

Good luckwith DA3

best bits of DA:O and DA 2...so basically they are just going to release DA: O with better graphics then ?
killersniper46 1 month ago 30
@killersniper46 Better graphics and the dialog tree (which is by far the best thing 'bout DA:O)
bloodangel13 1 month ago
@killersniper46 In fact, graphics in DA2 was worse than DAO(except fire).
H1kkiMouse 3 weeks ago
@H1kkiMouse ya graphics in orgins looked more realer....why can bioware make ME series good but fuck up dragon age?
FALUKYOURMOM 3 weeks ago
@FALUKYOURMOM Because they were impatient and tried to reduce the development time for DA2. This is sad :C
H1kkiMouse 3 weeks ago
the origins story line was more intense if i can say so than the second game but the fighting style in the second beats origins mostly the spells

BigMisterApple 1 month ago
@BigMisterApple origins with button mashing,... is DA2... they are basically the same game with the same general combat idea, its just DA:O made it look more like an rpg while DA2 just wanted to make it more fast paced and more hack and slash then an actual rpg
Robbydobbayy 1 month ago
Well Dragon age isnt as good compared to elder scroll games they have way more detail plus dragon age is a not no where near anywhere to become a good RPG
Corkykiller123 1 month ago
A Combination of the good elements of the 2 Games... well the Graphical Style of DA2 was amazing, but DA:O had the better story, and I loved how you could create a character from every race, hopefully in the next one we can also create a Qunari.

how can you take the best bits of a game (dragon age 2) when it had none.
EX0DD 1 month ago
i loved both games, i initially didnt like the combat in DA2 but it grew on me and its not alll that different then dragon age orgins. my only problem with DA2 is the ending, it was like they didnt now how to finish it and just kinda came up with something lame, and it was really easy. killing the archdeamon was way harder than DA2 ending
pasta163 1 month ago
DA2 and DAO are both brilliant, but your got to admit that DA2 is WAY better the DAO
I think for DA3 they should keep the combat and art style the same as in DA2 but not have to play as a single characters life story ever time you play a new game, there needs to be lots of variety in voice actor range (like in Skyrim) and story paths, so there always something new and different depending on what your character says.
but keep the convo wheel too, the list thing they did in DAO sucked

I wanna see DA3 come out

the only thing DA2 excels DAO is on the combat movements. both awesome games, DAO, better because it really kicked asses. nearly the perfect rpg.
