i wish toney had fought cro cop a nice stand up battle, or even liddell, but choosing randy for your debut fight was a bad move anyway if i was randy i would have just pounded him out not submitted him.mma does need a world class boxer to succesfully make the transition cause there are a few lads with strong boxing backgrounds

Boxing has tried to screw Toney, they don't want him to fight the Klitsisters just as much as the klitsisters don't want to fight him... he clearly won the First Peter's fight and should have gotten a decision in the second. see Toney would of only needed the one chance at one of the klits, Peter's had nothing for Toney, they were both Toney fights, if toney makes you miss talks to the crowd and punishes you with counter punches, thats a Toney fight= a Toney win

He was washed up ever since he moved down from Heavyweight he was weight drained fatigued etc. Even then Roy Jones was a potent force. Great Champions should not be disrespected Toney was good but not as much as Roy Jones or Hopkins.

Toney is a better boxer and I agree that he'd beat most MMA fighters in a boxing match but at the end of the day,MMA is more realistic so if he was fighting for his life, anyone with skills in grappling the opponent on the ground will have more than a 60-40 chance of beating someone with no groundwork.

Boxers in MMA don't do so well, just like MMA fighters wouldn't do well in boxing. Just like long distance runners don't do so well in short distance sprints.
If you train for one SPECIFIC sport, you will be good at that ONE sport more than the others. Makes sense to me at least :P
All this rivalry shit from MMA and boxing fans is a load of shit, and it usually involves people who have yet to hit the age of 18 or people that don't understand fighting.

I mean Randy Couture would've never fought James Toney in straight boxing, nore would James Toney go toe toe with Randy in a wrestling match, cause there's different kinds of Athletes. I mean MMA is all martial arts, no style is forbidden so long as it's not dirty fighting, so it usually makes them more well rounded, but honestly the truly best athletes are the one's that can do lots of different workouts well.
