Can anybody remember what year Terry appeared at the Trentham gardens, i was there that nite, wot a top man, he was ace that night, i know it was the late 90s
Sure this one sells for a lot of money, but so does Rolls Royce cars, Havana cigars, and space trips to Mars, and that's where this record sends me daddy-o!
Let me guess: 1968. Northern Soul. Love late 60s records for this reason--aggressive brass--clipped rhythm guitar riffs--strong bass lines, a drum track that's strong without being overpowering, and those major 7th chords to sweeten the song up.
Your right mate,it is his best work,it's got everything you want to have in a classic Northern Souler, top class vocal, rolling drum patterns and a throbbing bassline and a bit of brass as the cherry on top,i loves it ;o)
'Sposed to be £7 worth at Wigan 1978 ish......but I NEVER saw a copy. Managed to get a couple much later on though... :-) Great story, great music......GREAT TUNE!!
Arranged by the late Charles Stepney who went on to co-produce Earth Wind & Fire's That's The Way Of The World with Maurice White (Maurice was the drummer on this Terry Callier classic as well!)
Every Terry performance is a special occasion , have been lucky to see him live on many occasions - what a legend and the music timeless
