Here's the fact. Most Republicans are racist. I know it is old, and cliche. But look at the truth people. The south, which is now predominately republican, used to be called the democratic south. But when J.F.K. (democrat) and his V.P. (lyndon B johnson, also democrat) supported the civil rights act, the south turned republican over night. coincidence? I think not. Besides racism, one of the main things the party uses to get votes is the bible.  The repubs USE the bible, and manipulate.

Actually, in my southern family, it goes back much further; my ancestors became democrats after Lincoln freed the slaves, and stayed that way right through my own father. As a kid, I always thought it was because they were progressive, but nope. It became a generational thing that has only recently begun to change.

I just find the whole southern democrat dynamic over the last 20 generations or so to be so ironic and fascinating that I just can't help sharing it.
