  • I feel sorry for Alex Grey. He seems like a really cool guy that has to constantly talk to losers and hipsters pretending to have some profound understanding of his art.

  • @elSargent93 Such as you are doing right now...

  • PUPPYS ARE MY FAVORITE THIIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!!!! SING ALONG!

  • look at that vein popping out of his head, holy crap

  • Woops! I made a mistake! I was describing here Alan Steinfeld energy. However I still agree that I like the energy of Alex, but I would not describe his energy in the same way. One of common places in this plane of reality, Confusion and Miss communication. Thou I believe every thing has its divine purpose of absolute perfection. And to correct my mistake. Thank you Alan for bringing such wonderful people to your show and Thank you Alex for the brilliant work of Art you share with us.

  • I was just about say how much I like Alex personality. And my eyes just caught the glimpse of a comment right above my eyesight of some one saying the same thing. Obviously there is something Universally true to this statement. There is this warmth and innocence in his energy gentleness for sure. A rather rare qualities to the masculine energy, being man myself and not gay. It is a beautiful experience to come across such rare souls. Thank you Alex.

  • The Alex Grey's SUCCESSORS.The young artists of the Future

    watch?v=hsRA6rCNWpM

  • a bit superficial i know but Alan Steinfelds hair do is really a hair don't.

  • @TranshumanCyborg Happy you share your experiences. All respect. I am neither for or against phsycedelics. I have tried it. A lot. And most of the catalyst - please excuse my English - I opened in my mind was enlightning. Now it`s said. But I have also seen darker sides. But of course, when you are on the drug, you have to remember that this is a journey. And it will most likely, as any trip, whether you travel in your mind, or you travel in the world, "bring you Home". Safe journey to u.

  • Why haven`t I heard about this artist, philsopher, traveller, before? Thank you for letting me discover him. I will always be searching.

  • @TranshumanCyborg I am very open minded when it comes to psychedelics, in my opinion based on what i heard from other user's is that LSD definitely is a catalyst and opens doors to the unconsciousness. Maybe in the future when i get to know more about the drug and it's side effects would i ever consider trying it, I find meditation much better soothing for my needs and i am more willing to go that route.

  • @Primordialinsight i have used lsd and mushrooms and i can tell you i never felt like it damaged me in any way...it gave me experiences to ponder for months...if you are considering trying them don't worry about any side effects

  • @nathenism What makes you think that the mushrooms will have the same efffect on everebody? What makes you think that the next trip you have will be simular, or as pleasant as your previous? I don`t want to broadcast any PR on this very sensitive field of ... science, if that`s what you like to call it. I will, and cannot say if the effect - or side effects - are going to be good or bad. Ijust want you to pay caution on what you tell others, this is as I mentined, a very sensitive area.

  • @lene2376 i dont think taking these things will drive a person crazy if they were not already heading in that direction...they are not unhealthy, and do not cause damage...but if a person is already damaged they may intensify that...i have taken mushrooms when i was in a bad mental state and i had a horrible trip, but when it was over it was over...no lasting damage...as far as being a sensative area...if you were raised to be a gullible idiot thats not my problem

  • @nathenism Just by calling me a gullible idiot, tells a lot about your socalled "open minded" state you are in. You seem pretty prejudiced too me. Tried to establish a reasonable and neutral conversation with you, maybe establish a reasonable, neutral conversation with you. Maybe exchange some experiences. But you don`t seem OPEN ENOUGH for that. Sorry for you

  • @lene2376 i wasn't calling you a gullible idiot...i gave my advice to the guy based on my experience and there was no need for you to jump in and critisize me...what i meant was the only way my advice could hurt him is if he was a gullible idiot

  • @nathenism I am just speculating for right know, but thanks for the advice : )

  • @Primordialinsight Well written. By taking LSD, mushrooms, you, as I have mentioned before to one of the chatters here, you never know whitch doors - in your mind - you will open. Positive or negative. Please excuse my language. I am not from an English speaking country. But you will hear from me in a little while. Especially impressed about your text about Polymerase Chain Reaction.

  • @lene2376 Yeah, well i learned about PCR in a microbiology class in college, its some insane stuff. Thanks for your comment

  • @Primordialinsight what is pcr?

  • @SmokeCheck4 Polymerase Chain Reaction, they used it in biotechnology to make proteins out of synthetic DNA. Like artificial insulin, they use a bacteria to make it. They first insert the DNA into a bacteria then it will take it in and start to spit out insulin. Look it up on wikipedia or google it : )

  • @Primordialinsight thanka alot for the informations appreciate it.

  • @SmokeCheck4 No Problem dude, you welcome.

  • @TranshumanCyborg Yes i am familiar with Polymerase Chain Reaction, it is used in biotechnology to make artificial proteins. I had no idea that this too was invented under the influence of LSD. I looked up the Crick and Watson DNA helix experiment and surprisingly Crick did indeed take small dosages of the drug while coming up with the DNA helix theory. I know this stuff is ever day to you but finding this out for me is a first and i think it is very intriguing.

  • @TranshumanCyborg Did Crick really come up with the structure of DNA while on Acid? what about James Watson? By the way do you have a book or a website where i can read more about the LSD experiments?. I don't think i would ever try any kind of psychedelic because i will loose it, thats one of the reasons why i don't get hight on Mary Jay any more because it really messes me up. Id rather get drunk on liquor or something. By the way are you a painter as well?

  • @TranshumanCyborg I believe Sigmund Freud mentioned the same analogy regarding the iceberg and unconsciousness, which i do agree. I once new this stoner dude and by the way this is how i heard of alex grey, he said that LSD makes certain parts of the brain evolve that haven't yet evolved on their own, I think he was trying to tell me the same thing about the unconscious to consciousness. I think that this is very fascinating, but i don't think i would ever try LSD it scares the crap out of me.

  • @TranshumanCyborg Very interesting, well to be honest i think time will tell if these synthetic man made drugs are beneficial and if what you mentioned is indeed correct i find that very intriguing. We need more inquisitive scientist's and participants to help resolve this enigma regarding the beneficial properties of LSD.

  • @TranshumanCyborg Yeah well you could have a long term high on LSD with only one dose plus there still isn't sufficient long term research done on this hallucinogen to say if it has any healthy properties. I admire and am a fan of Alex Grey's work and if you read the chapter in his book about drug use you would agree with me that it isn't for everybody.

  • @TranshumanCyborg Yeah but i bet he wasn't doing that stuff all day, something as synthetic as LSD must bring some kind of bad long term side effects.

  • i need to try lsd and dmt at least once

  • I think Alex Grey is a phenomenal artists, i think one of his greatest masterpieces was his book The Mission of ART. I gotta say that this book helped me get my shit together, but i must say Alex you need to lay of the LSD because we want you to live as long as you can so you can bring us more ART!!!!!!!!

  • @Primordialinsight If he laid off the LSD his artwork would suck. If anything he needs to do more

  • @DMTLSD2 You know drugs and art have been together for a long time, but i must say a man can't be stoned his whole life. An artist's has to be of pure mind and body to produce and authentic and timeless masterpiece.

  • dmt is insectoid!

  • @danjeezy840 lol win.

  • acid trips....

  • how does a person come to combine the characteristx ov thee above two types?

  • @dhatudharma acid will expand your mind beyond any explanation i can give you on a youtube comment board. take a day off (yes a full day) and find out for yourself.

  • @rambo570n3d < it would also cause untold organ damage. Making one jittery and eventually useless.

I know nothing comes easy. Alternative way to get there : meditation/yoga/art/taichi/lucid dreaming, self-hypnosis etc. Give you natural way to generate tranquil chemicals. No side effects, just extra investment of time !

  • @dhatudharma dmt is a whole other story. dont mess with it, but he did (does?).

  • @danjeezy840 probably because alex grey is a master painter, he can see what he speaks, the other guy just talks about it with no skill behind him.

  • there's nothing wrong with trying a hit of LSD to get to know the world a little.

  • seeing grey's mirrors there gave me goosebumps

  • @danjeezy840 lol,

  • alex shows more than being under the influence. i find its more about the the nature of life and spirit.

  • His work contains some REAL SUBSTANCE which most of the main stream art or media is lacking...SUBSTANCE...Sure many wont get it, but the work that Alex is doing is revolutionary and I think his best works are forthcoming...Thanks Alex, love to you and your family.

  • what i mean is that there are so many ways to precieve a thing.. so, when you make action with the most sensible conduction out of fear and aguish, most of the time it's irrelivant. So maybe what I'm trying to say that you can go many ways..

  • Dudes, Obama is cool. look underneath the reputation and the circumstances and see for yourself.. a person. He seems pretty intellegent and I would endorse him. I guess what I'm trying to say to you all is please stop making things so incorporated. It seems to me most of you are very hung up on the obscurity of yourselves not being in control..

  • I heard Alex say when he unveiled the painting that he put stars in the pupils of Obama because many of us had stars in our eyes, relieved that we had a President who at least sounded intelligent. Alex said it was more a symbol of what many, many people HOPED Obama was, not an endorsement of the man.

  • their is fucking political cancer all over these youtube videos. focus people.

  • Alex Grey's an amazing artist and a highly intellectual person but his new Obama painting's got me a little concerned as to his perspective of the world.

Personally I don't trust Obama, Al Gore, and of course the Bush administration.

There's a lot of evidence pertaining to the fact that Republicans and Democrats are working together and politics game in gerneral is just a smoke screen.

  • i totally agree with you, stupidfreakyface. it seems totally at odds with what he "preaches."

politics is a human game, as is religion. to call oneself a visionary artist, yet give credence to political figures, is not a transcendental perspective.

  • @stupidfreakyface

Gasp! You mean practically every president of the past one hundred years has just been a party puppet!?

Sadly, many intellectuals, including Alex Grey, buy into the legitimacy of politics, which is the most grand illusion of all.

  • one thing i learned from alex gret is anything is art even your stickfigures midnight "let love draw the line" just try it, if anything you likeing your own work is good enough

  • SOMEBODY GET THESE MEN SOME DMT

  • I like alex grey and I like his art, I wish I could draw the visions I have like him, but i struggle with a decent stick figure. I dont quite agree with his teachings though

  • I am curious to hear of what you disagree with regarding Alex Grey's 'teachings'.

  • lol well me being a man of philosophy my self and have written a few books (not published) it would be difficult for me to sit here and compare and contrast what I teach and what he teaches . They are similar but In my experience of death I would have to disagree with some of what he says. Ill never mount up to the kind of teacher he is, but I like to teach friends, family, and those around me who are willing to listen

  • oh. Ok.

  • If people painted on walls back then why is it illegal for us to do it today?

  • I love Alex Grey, but I really don't love the fact that Alan Steinfeld interviews people like him on one hand, and then people like Ramtha on the other hand. It just discredits New Realities, and that's depressing.

  • Ralph Waldo Emerson stated clearly there are SAYERS, DOERS, THINKERS...a artist like Alex is a DOER...JZNIGHT is a SAYER...Alex teaches IN THIS VIDEO art argues for the inner world...are ready to know that Ramtha is the same and differant as any other inner world? Bashar, Abraham, Seth...and Alex, Me , Depak...only illistrating what is there, universal dictation...only reporting

  • Ramtha is a far greater person that alex grey would ever be, she has a real soul, all alex grey does is take drugs and messes up his life and his brain and body..open your eyes, WAKE UP!

  • Yeah. Except Alex Grey doesn't need my money to teach me how to spiritually better myself. It's all potential inside of us. JZ/Ramtha preaches the same thing, except apparently, she needs my money to do it.

  • @11Phutureprimitive11 How do you figure Alex is messing up his life? I bet he has more money than you and is probably happier than you as well. He doesn't tell anyone his way is better or make snap judgments about people as you have obviously done.

  • If you enjoy this you should read B.C. Burrus "Finding Me" another great artist who is enlightened

  • Awesome video i would like to hear more.

  • brilliant. Would love for him to tattoo his art to my body

  • hell yeah.. im tattooing some of his artwork on my back.. this guy is a genius!

  • Youre tattooing your own back?

  • no? im gettin it done professionally..if anyone can even re-do his art xD,

  • That's good. I dont want to see your attempt to tattoo your own back.

Actually.....thatd be funny as hell, record it and upload it onto youtube! lol

  • lol it would be very moronic... shii if only i was that artistic and awsome to tattoo alex greys artwork...ON MY BACK..BY MYSELF xD

  • Don't really see much "anger" in his works, any actually. They are usually about transcendental experiences, and what many people see under their influence. He just has an incredible skill to transfer that to the canvas. They are visionary and very unique.

  • @cehas omg logical, realistic response on the interwebz? nowai.

  • =D !!!

  • why?

  • it was a DICK

  • Well, I like alex Grey's personality. :)

  • fair comment

  • Ok while you try to summon jesus i'll go get santa clause and we'll meet back here in a week.

  • Has anyone here been able to transvasate to the 4th Dimension also?

  • By transcendental wisdom, no.

  • As for me using the word retard, stop being so uptight and PC. I have plenty of compassion, as I take care of people with disabilities for a living.

  • dude its not about being "coherent" as you say. Its about having a bunch of non-sensical beliefs. Dont get me wrong, I love lsd and dmt. I have used them numerous times and have had many revelations but when people start believing in dumb shit (reptilian aliens walking amongst us, hollow earth theory, 2012, etc) is when it gets out of hand

  • danjeezy840 if you saw what a real acid casualty acts like you would not make this comment Steinfeld is perfectly coherent compared with the likes of acid users such as Syd Barrett, Peter Green and to a lesser degree even myself... yes i take lsd and yes i have had both positive and negative experiences and outcomes. I would also like to point out that slandering and using the word retard in a hateful way is not visionary in any sense what so ever, where is your compassion?

  • retard is just an inert word. you are adding definition.

  • I Love You Alix Grey Thank you for your soul Medicine!

  • Just before I saw this, I was visualizing what the crypt keeper would look like if he was gay. Then this video just "popped up"...totally unexpected and amazing!

  • LOL

  • bahahaha i was thinking along the same lines

  • alex Grey is a prophetic painter..

Alan thaks for sharing this interesting video!

    pat

  • what kind of archetypes was he talking about?

  • pretty sure he is talking about the archetypes that relate to Jung's notion of the collective unconcious.

  • haha alex grey helped me find the band tool and they are both amazing Alex Grey and Tool

  • Thanks for the feed back.

Did you ever have a vision of what is possible and it shows up in unexpected ways?

  • he did Tool's album art for 10,000 days, and CD packaging. hes so awesome

  • Second time I watched this...this steinfeld guy still creeps me out.

  • Alex inspires me as an artist tremendously.

  • Alex Grey seems like the culmination of modern western science and education and ancient shamanistic mysticism... it's like a whole new hybrid. I only hope that his ideas can somehow be expounded upon and create some kind of movement.

  • There is some kind of movement... several actually.

  • psy trance- meaning n purpose love it

  • wow, do you really think that is ugly? your opinion is quite unintelligent and doesnt hold much water. you must look at some of his books of these paintings then share an opinion

  • His intelligence lies within his ability to express himself, and as you probably notice, he does a hell of a good job with his paintings, he is not an autist with super abilities in every region, right?

  • I have seen most of what he does, and clearly he has rose coloured glasses on. Yes, go ahead insult if i dare offend your idol.

I am entitled to my views, and im sure a herd of mindless Alex Grey Sycophants wouldnt have the brain power to interpret or critique anything beyond what they told is the immediate idea, they just go with whats easiest-Agree with the flock.

  • The fact is you Sludgy9 have not looked at Alex Grey's paintings that well. There are just as much evil and good things on them, such as hatred, death, love, life, anger, creation, destruction. I see your 'criticism' of Alex Grey's art as petty and that indeed is a subjective opinion that I do not share lightly.

  • Why do you have to be such a dumb cunt?

  • Why do you have to be so emo?

  • And you're the ultimate authority on what everyone should do with their own creative expression? Reality is subjective, criticism isn't due when harm isn't intended.

  • There is no 'must' in art

  • Well, when he was younger, as in 5 - 10 years oldish he was into death, and I beieve worked in a morgue, or would visit them, either way, he does see both dark light, good bad, etc.

  • What's all this judgment? Take what you can, leave the rest.

  • I hope some day people will understand themselves better.

  • Alex is a shaman, a yogi, and a translator of transcendental vision... and his gift is appreciated!

  • maybe next time you watch it you'll feel something different.

so don't take yourself so seriously!

all i know is i want to peek into "the divine imagination"

  • If you actually think that Alex Grey just claimed to "have keys" to "open portals to other worlds" through his art, you need to check yourself in.

  • mikeandmattie -

He's conducting an interview! Of course he's talking about himself... is he supposed to do an interview and talk about Nelson Mandella?

You're only reading what you want to read from this guy. Open your mind. And if you still don't like him... then.. oh well. He's a fucking painter not the president. He doesn't owe anyone anything.

  • Have you seen all of his paintings?

  • How do you infer 'arrogant fuck' from talking about his art. He does'nt flaunt art and I'm sure he's talking about art in general as opposed to his art only.

  • :) .

  • Alex Grey strikes me as a shy, soft-spoken person. He has great conviction in what he does, a deep underlying passion for the art, and for God. It is very difficult to convey such deep-seeded beliefs in words that most people can understand.

  • I want an original painting

  • So do I Amuris. You really should get the card set he created, which has his artwork on the front, and poetry/commentary on the back. They are FANTASTIC!

  • Nice jacket, Alex :)

  • His work is incredible

  • bottom line: If you've never done hallucinogens, you won't understand. And no, he's not crazy.

  • So you are more concerned with the mortal physical than the immortal spiritual being..?

  • I haven't done andy hallucinogenic drugs but despite that Alex Grey is one of my favorite artists anywhere...

  • I like Alex Greys artwork alot, but why does he and the interviewer look and talk eerily alike? Like emaciated corpses? Do they live off of twigs and berries or something?

  • kind of an awkward interview it seems.

  • its hard to express that kind of shit with words

  • Alex is one of the most important living painters of our time, ART HEALS, he is sincere and a very deep soul as well as Allyson his wife, I spend as much time at COSM whenver i'm back in my hometown of NYC. Ron Paul in 2008! Thanks for posting!

  • Shut up you lonely bitch, Alex Grey is the only artist left on earth.

  • he's full of shit

  • I love alex grey...so insightful, it's really inspiring. Gotta love the 'coincidence' of the revelation, nice!

  • This interview was great. I was able to directly quote Alex Grey using this as a source for a paper for my humanities class. Thank you Alan, Alex, and YouTube.

  • Loved this interview. Great questions and a depth of answers. Loved the personal revelation of the host.

  • Thanks for the comment. - Alan

  • Alan Steinfeld always has great people to interview. Much love to him and Alex Gray.
