I understand completely everything you said in this vid, and I hope the natural community doesn't jump on me for saying this, but I didn't have a choice. My mom permed my hair before I got to kindergarten b/c she said it was too much for her to handle. I've had it ever since. So for me this is kinda just what I'm comfortable with.
You are so right. It's sad that we as black Americans are looked at negatively; including our hair. I've been natural a year & six months. I also made the decision to love the hair that grows from my scalp. God made it that way, & I love it!! Great video, thanks for sharing..
So you made me want to go natural even more than i did before because i love my natural hair. African American hair is beautiful and we dont have to as much as even one else.
You are so right! I don't think black people are oppressed when it comes to the "beauty world" anymore( thank God). We live in an age of tanning, spray tans, booty pads and God knows what else.
God made our hair so versatile. We can curl, crimp, and style it anyway we want! God is good...hair or no hair he is always good.
Your message is very uplifting. Im still on my journey & have been natural for 1yr and 3 mths and Im still learning to love my hair. Every day, I appreciate and love it more and I never consider going back relaxed. Thank for all those good pointers we never want to talk about or address with the world or one another. Thanks c:
This is totally true. I really agree with you Chime. I decided to go natural since October 2010, and I'm glad I'm glad I am still currently transitioning. I did not grow up in a family where my family members said "good" vs. "bad" hair, however some members encouraged me to keep doing perms to allow it to grow; they also suggested that I would not get hired with natural hair. However, since going natural I have accepted who I am, and actually have greater self-esteem. Also I got hired!
I got a relaxer when I was in 7th grade. I didn't want one but my mom decided I should get one and I went with it. I went back to natural by the end of eighth grade.
That guy who said to his son about having good hair, that is so gay seriously, really, boys do not need any hair really, I don't know why some guys these days act so feminine, sad!
straight is sexier, i can't run my fingers through my 16inch natural. im seriously but reluctantly con\sidering abandoning 3 years natural. but i hate relaxed hair cause its dead looking (limp and lighter colored) they both have their pros and cons. my natural hair is so dark and thick and rich, but i'm tender headed.
Natural hair is for slaves and suckers? Wow, that's ignorance if I ever heard it. That being said I'm relaxed and don't have any immediate plans to go natural. I have the KINKEST hair, shrinkage like no other. If my natural hair was WL I bet you in without a flat iron it would look BSL. For me a relaxer has nothing to do with my African identity (and unlike most people on You Tube, I am first generation American BOTH of my parents are from "The Motherland" as some like to say) for me is it pure
I think with the education we are all getting, we will get there. No one around me knew how to take care of kinky/curly hair when I was younger but I see that now, more and more people can give advice. You Tube community please continue to grow. It's the only way we will spread the word.
I too, didn't get a relaxer til I was a junior in high school.... so I was the same way about getting a scab... it's horrible how we are pretty much trained to think that straighter hair and lighter skin is more beautiful... I wish I had went natural sooner...
i can honeslty say that your hair is far more beautiful than most mixed women hair...i can say that bc i am mixed n my hair texture is 3c 4a n i love your hair..if i could have neones hair in the world other than my own i would definantely chose your hair. you r truely blessed
I so love this video! It definitely takes time to learn to accept your hair. Even afterI went natural, I tried to get it to look like other natural girls whose hair wasnt the same type as mine. Last year, I finally embraced it completely and I wore my afro shrunken-I was so proud of myselef. Now, I dont get envious of other girls'hair and I have been able to take such better care of my hair since then:) Im subbing rite now gurl!
just curious about your opinion...you believe that black women relax their hair to be more white?..so do you also believe that white and asian women perm their hair to be more black??...just curious.... :)
Thank you for posting this video it was pure inspiration for me I have been transitioning for 1 and I plan on going to a natural salon and having them to cut off the rest of my ends within the next month. I have felt like giving up and getting a perm at times but having people like you on the YT for encouragement has really helped. The problem is deep within our community and I can only pray that more women go natural. Thank you so much for this video.
Girl Preach!!!! One word beautiful. Keep doing you and spreading this knowledge. I have locs and I will NEVER go back to permed hair again. It was not until I went natural that I was able to really like me and how I look.
this is such a great video! natural hair is slowly making its way into my school thanks to my cuzzin:) i went natural my frshman year but im still finding it hard to hav styles cuz i feel it never turns out right:( im a junior now tho and im still working on that buut not goin so well:( help?
I really appreciate you sharing your story. You are a beautiful young lady, and an inspiration. I was really touched by your prayer for hair acceptance. You have given us a lot to consider, and reason to continue the naural hair journey. thank you.
i cannot imagine you would ever want to relax that beautiful hair of yours! if i had hair like that, it would be an ultimate joy! youre a beautiful person with beautiful hair!!
Natural hair is for slaves and suckas?!? Wow, seriously?!? That is so sad to hear that people still think that way. Even if it's not your cup of tea, that doesn't mean that it's a bad thing.
When would something that is natural and healthier for you a bad thing?!? Riddle me that!! lol .. Anywho, thanks for sharing your story!
I'm 19 and I've been natural since I was 15...and I never used perm, only texturizer...same shit but way less harmful. I just wish my hair could be your length holy loll
I feel like you stole my story and put it on youtube. I have the exact same story but my aunt used to do my hair. I begged my mom to relax my waist length hair! Big mistake! I'm happy to see you got back to natural. Wish me luck.
I don't think it's always about 'looking white'. People always assume that. I have hair that some people may consider 'good'. but I like it because my natural curls are pretty, it's shiny and it's very soft. I don't want straight hair, and I don't want afro hair - I like mine. Furthermore, I like light eyes - not cos it's 'white', but cos it's a nice contrast when you're olive or darker. My standard of beauty tends to be biracial, cos that's what I am.
There is a show originate in toronto called "da kink in my hair" (stage show turned 2yr sitcom...later cancelled), sistras telling personal monologes (sp) around their lifestyle told via the hair salon....musical, humorous, emotional, inlightening....pls googles its the bomb!!!! And I applaused u for your insight and sharing what many of us kinky/nappy hair sisters are truly internally feeling.
Im now a rising junior in college fully embracing my natural beauty...and goshh was i surprised to have so many haters constantly hinting to me that "natural hair isnt for everyone and that on some people its a big FAIL" i let it not bother me and surprisingly it became my motivation to continue LOVING MY CURLS (Well my TWA) as of now :) enjoy your journey ladies <3
If we really looked at the source of hatred towards natural hair, we as blk people are the main culprit of the issue...other races don't understand it so they really have no say on our hair, only we do...we need to support each other through this natural journey & accept our nappy roots for what it is...only then can we set the trend & let the rest of the world see our true beauty....Btw luv ur video....stay beautiful & blessed...1luv :^)
@iluvpinkandgold true. I tried natural hair, and have about 3 inches of relaxed hair still left because I do not want to do the big chop, but will continue to go natural as I have since Oct. 2010. Also, people should realize that putting a relaxer on the scalp is like putting an ointment on the skin...even w. the base, it can seep through and who knows the long-term health detriments of lye........I'm glad I am working towards health hair!
i am happy for you people on you tube who show me how to style natural hair and let me realize how versatile it is . i wont bash any one still but i want to try my curly hair now
u r so right , i have good hair because its mine lol but i remember everyone asking me why u want to relax it ? yr already mix ! its already long! but i also wanted that silky straight hair that could easily clip up and blow in the wind lol . i grow up in a country where natural hairstyle is just braids/puff and i dont like that and i dont like to wear wigs.never will but i will go natural and style my hair like yrs and some others i see. but i believe we unique and have the right to experiment
@Jolielove11 watch out with braids tell them to not to go so tight in the front cause braids do tend to thin out the front of your hair and dont keep them in for too long because it starts to pull pulling out ur hair growth and we dont want that also while in braids treat ur roots with castor oil, jojoba and rosemary oils hope this helps also avoid mineral oil at all costs petroluem too
In the Kanye West E.T. Video...Katy Perry is rocking an African hairstyle, and holding the hand of her ancestor in the end..but why is it E.T? the truth is so extra-terrestrial...
If you ever go to runway shows or watch the shows that are televised during fashionweek in The Usa Japan Germany and others you will see models having their hair made to look NAPPY! lol...and in Japan...natural Japanese hair is SUPA thick!! when they don't perm it it looks super nappy...when some hispanic women dont alter their hair it looks like an afro-kinda...I even saw an asian woman sport a coil fro updo when I was back West....Kinky hair has always been in...
Thanks you helped me soooooooo much I have been transitioning for half a year now and I was going to relax my hair for school because I could not stand my roots because It kept getting tangled and I just was going to give up on being natural but now I think I'm going to give it another try thanks and grate video!!!!!!
"Finally!! I have a scab!!" LoL! Girl we were so crazy. I begged my mom for a relaxer until she finally gave up. I can't believe I did that. But I loved my relaxer too. But now I'll never go back. Hope if I have a daughter she won't be stupid like i was. LoL!
"Natural hair is for slaves and for suckers!" Way to go 1975!! Loser.. I hate running into those types.
"Finally!! I have a scab!!" LoL! Girl we were so crazy. I begged my mom for a relaxer until she finally gave up. I can't believe I did that. But I loved my relaxer too. But now I'll never go back. Hope if I have a daughter she won't be stupid like i was. LoL!
i hate to single my natural hair ladies out, but I have to say your hair is BEAUTIFUL!!! Thanks for making this video. I think my story has some of same things you said, so i definitely feel everything you said. I CANNOT stand the feuds we have in our own communities (dark vs. light, natural vs relaxed, good hair vs bad hair) Please woman we cannot let these things divide us!!! Us naturals can get just as grimy with our comments as the ladies with relaxers, so lets just STOP!
You are SO expiring. You have actually given me the boost of confidence to go through with my transition. I have been transitioning for about 5 months & I would love to know all of the products you use, & anymore tips or advice you have regarding transitioners. Thanks bunches.!(:
Your entire vlog is so on point! I appreciate that you have put this online. I just recently did the bi chop, but my hair also grows long. Black folks always looking and asking me if my hair was real. I hated that! I plan to let my hair grow back long but not with the perm this time. Again thank you for your point of view (which like I said is on point!)
This is the first video I have ever commented on. It's so uplifting and I just wish everyone had the same perspective on African American hair, or just hair in general.
Thank you for your video Chime. These are serious issues in our community that we need to address. I am an actress living in LA. I am natural. I had so many people telling me I need to get straight hair in order to get more auditions. Sadly it was true. I am still natural, but am wearing a long straight weave. My hair was doing so well, when I was just letting it be itself, but it got so damaged from forcing it to be straight at the advice of others. Now I miss my curls!!
Hi your hair is gorgeous and definitely inspires me to continue with my journey. I have been transitioning for about 5 months and now i have senegalese twists in. My issue is i go back to college in a month so I have very little time to experiment and have no clue what im going to do with my hair once i get there...one thought was rod sets but even then im not sure. Any suggestions?!...nd can u post a vid for your winter regimen? Thanks for your time any advice would be great!
Great Video, thanks for sharing your experiences, this story will help many black women who are struggling with the transition or just with themselves all together. It feels so good to finally get it, doesnt it?!!! Glad you joined us Sis!!!! Blessings
@x0PunkRockPrincess0x As long as your hair is healthy (ie.not breaking off) I say it's all the same. But I have to say that natural hair is just as easy as permed hair IF you know what you're doing. The maintenance of permed hair vs. the maintenance of natural hair is about the same. Washing, deep conditioning, detangling, moisturizing and sealing, and avoiding unnecessary heat. Except that you have to stretch your relaxers to avoid over-processing.
oh and i share your same views am goin natural or transitioning because i think that i was tryin to be wat i was not....... natural is the way i was born and who i one day hope to be again am working towards my natural hair. hopefully by august 2012 i will be able to cut of all these permed ends
hi..... i dont think ive ever seen a video of your regimen.... how do u wash condition, detangle ..... i wanna know girl cause by the time am two years natural am hoping to have a head of hair
Your such an inspiration to all us young women! I am making a film about a black girl in middle school who struggles with her identity and self esteem because she is dark skinned and has type 4 coily hair
OMGGG!!! Your hair???? You're an inspiration. I'm aspiring to your status!!! So I guess what I'm trying to say is, you're an inspiring aspiration! LOL...kidding, but seriously, I. Want. Your. Hair!!!!!!!!!! Peace &Blessings, QACC
Lovely video, you really hit some topics on the head. I feel at the end of the day there is a noticeable movement of naturals but as my friend pointed out it shouldn't be a movement because ppl decide to rock their real hair but more of an awakening.
I was wondering two things. your name Chime where is that from? Nigeria?
Two how did you transition for almost 3 years using braids, wigs, weaves, your own hair?
I jus found your videos and u have really made me think about how badly I treat my hair. I don't get relaxers but I blow dry it and flat iron it a lot. Now I'm thinkin of goin natural but I'm scared lol. So I'll watch more of your videos and do more research and hopefully begin the process soon so if anyone has any advice I would b glad to hear it.
This my 3rd comment (ok last one). :) Everyone has their reasons for relaxing their hair, some do it for fun, for change, but that's not most of us. Most BW who relax their hair are from western countries or formerly enslaved black african countries. BW is the only ethnicity whose NORM is to wear their hair in an unnatural state. If 80% of indians curled their hair and made it the norm in their community we'd ALL agree they're trying to be something they're not. The truth shall set us free ;)
Thank you so much for inspiring us. I believe the best way to change people's minds is by example. A friend of mine, since I went natural, she doesn't seem to want to relax her hair anymore. You are gorgeous HairCrush!! As you said all textures are pretty. But what we have on our head is what suits us BEST. I have locks (best choice in my life), some relatives look at me funny, yet I get compliments from non-blacks. Why? Cause we just don't realize how beautiful we are.
Oh and quick question...you may have addressed this on some of your other videos but this is the 1st video Ive seen of yours...what do you do to your hair to make it grow and what different products/regimens do you use for every day maintenance?
OMG, this video warmed my heart! Def needed that! I did the big chop about 4 years ago and have been struggling w/ my natural hair every since, rotating between straightening it alot, weaves, braids, etc...lately Ive been trying 2 actually wear it in its natural state and I haven't been confident in my new look @ all :( Im tryna learn and accept my hair and your video was very reassuring and reminded me of some of the reasons I went natural and why its so hard 4 me 2 love my hair now. So thanx!
Chime, you rock! So glad shida shouted u out and glad I came over to see this haircrush lady she spoke highly of. Love your vids, very informative and its the truth. Please continue to make more videos. Your hair is amazing! Love the natural you! Take care.
I think our hair is so beautiful when it's healthy in its natural state. I saw this little girl today and she had hip length hair. It's just gorgeous.
I just watched your video even though im not african american im actually puerto rican i use to have very curly hair when i was young and i thought the same thing about my curls i hated my hair so i also begged my mom to let me get a relaxer it was the worst thing ever. and i've been flat ironing my hair for about 12yrs. im going to stop with the flat iron just so i can get my hair healthy and get my curls bak thx to u.
Thanks for this video. It's information like this that reminds me that I made the right decision to leave the relaxers behind me. This inspires me to continue the natural journey. Your hair is gorgeous and exceptional!
;you are very smart! be sure to get the youung girls to watch this because you speak truth! they are beautiful just the way they are. Beyonce said "girls rule the world" look good feel good about you be smart and work it!
2. I notice that the less manipulation I did to my hair, the longer and faster it would grow. I just think that if we were more educated on the care of natural hair, more women would be natural. I mean, not to negate the fact that some women just would rather have a relaxer for the ease and style. I just feel like natural hair is so versetile and having a relaxer makes us hair lazy. Raise your hand if you went natural and realized it's a little more work than relaxed hair... (raising my hand)lol
Thanx for sharing your story. I agree with everything u said regarding black hair issues. For me, it was luv at first sight. I saw herflyness79's hair and bout lost my mind. And as I mentioned b4, danced a jig at the first sight of my bc. Hopefully, many of all races will find your words encouraging and come at least one step closer to self love and acceptance. Fantabulous message!
Love to hear how others decided to go natural. I went natural because I wanted healthier hair not b/c I wanted to embrace my natural features or self. After falling in love w my natural I connected being natural to loving my natural features.but I have always believed the body or physical self is different then who u r inside.so changing the outside doesnt mean you dont love yourself.but since ive been natural I fell in love with my hair kinky or straight and its changed my overall self esteeem
@PLTbyCormie hi ya! I went natural cos my relaxed hair was a mess! Relaxing was damaging my hair badly and my hair was falling off a lot! It took some convincing from my friend's who's natural to make the move, but I'm so glad I did! I've seen more growth in 1 year being natural, than I ever have my whole life when I was relaxed!
girl u r preaching!!!!!!! i feel the exact same way. im n college and im learning so much about the black community in general and its so eye opening. hair is def a big thing. the ideal of beauty is in general. great video
This is exactly the way I felt when I went natural :) . Something opened up inside of me and I noticed I was being someone I wasnt and now the true me is here ! :)
what did you major in by the way, you talk about school alot.
Im In The 8th Grade And Of Course Its The End Of The School Year , But Im gonna go natural for as long as possible , but im addictive to my flat iron . im a african american and i want my hair to be long and healthy ! any TIPS ?
OMG do u know how much i love your channel ive waited so long for a natural like you to come to youtube thank you so much I can't believe I watched the whole video, i never watch long videos but this video made me feel proud to be a black women and natural love love your videos never stop making them (:
Girl! I love this video! You have brought up sooo many important issues! It's like you stole allll the words from outta my mouth! I think the #1 reason our hair is shorter is because, as you said, we do so many damaging things to it.
Likewise. My reasons - health and common sense. It made no sense to keep relaxing when my scalp was getting damaged and hair getting thinner, no matter what my hairdresser and I tried. Now, I'm dealing with the mental (negative) strongholds that I didn't realize were there about nappy, kinky hair. Very liberating.
Chime help!! I'm transitioning to natural hair but years of weaves and braids have left my front hair thin and almost balding on the side, so I"m embarrassed to be seen with my natural hair so I still do weaves or corn rows! I want to get to the point where I can rock my God given curls but I don't feel like I'm there yet. I'm using rosemary oil on the thin spots and I just started using Giovanni direct leave in conditioner, but my hair is extremely dry still! What can I use for both problems?
@Mizchika - Castor Oil! Moist your hair, and edges, with water, then apply your LI (leave-in), and then seat your edges, ends, with Castor Oil (a little does go a long way!) it's pretty thick, but don't let that intimidate you, just use very little your hair will be super soft! HTH.
@Mizchika - Also massage your hair (scalp, ends and edges) with oil every night (that's when hair grows), with your oil of choice. Some people use Jojoba Oil, because it's very light, and mimics our hair natural seburn. Massaging your hair (with fingers, not nails) will increase circulation and encourage growth in those problem areas! That should help you too, and in the morning, if your hair feels too oily, you can co-wash, or use a sulfate-free shampoo to remove some of the oil! Again, HTH :D
@wm0516 How could I forget Castor Oil?! It is great for growth as well!! @Mizchika Try different oils until you find which one works the best for you.
@HairCrush hell yeah i was perming my hair because as a kid i hated straightening combs and being called corkscrew hair! Once i saw my front sides thinning and being weak,i stop all heat and perms. I can't wait for my full curly hair to come back,6 mos and going strong!!
@Mizchika Try the vegetable glycerin and water mix to moisturize your hair. I use 40% glycerin and 60% water. Rosemary is a good oil to stimulate the scalp. I would also suggest that you try jojoba oil because it is an oil that closely mimics the sebum your scalp naturally produces. With love and care your growth will come! :)
Haircrush your hairstory is the most inspiring video I've ever seen on youtube. I've viewed literally 100's of hair journeys & this by far has helped me to make up my mind of being and staying natural. Please continue making videos....hhj:)
Hey girl......ur hair is amazing..... REALLY! I wanted to get your advice/opinion, now my hair is apl and it countiues to break and im not seeing any progress, so my question is should I get it cut, I want to start fresh, and I was.thinking about neck lenght! Any thoughts? Thanks!
@McGturtle3 ...moot point. Who dominates images in American media and advertising? Certainly not Asian people, or Indian people etc. Who's been the one to 'idolize' or 'copy' to gain acceptance in society? Think about your point a lil bit more thoroughly before you make it.
@McGturtle3 True, but Europeans have imposed their standard of beauty on the rest of the World. Their image is EVERYWHERE, on EVERYTHING in EVERY COUNTRY!
The closer one's features are to The European's feature, the more attractive.
Go to India, they bleach their skin to look lighter...to look "prettier".
Go to Asia, they also use skin whiteners. They even do eye surgery to have their eyes look more European.
Black people straighten their hair & Bleach the skin to be closer to the Europeans
.I didn't notice this until I visited other households and made friends with different people.. learned these things were important to others. A few months ago a friend confessed to me the trials and lack of acceptance growing up as a dark sister w. kinky hair. Inside I wondered what she was complaining about...she looked like me - Difficult ,sometimes, to tell people to change their way of thinking based on experience...that's something they need to discover as an individual.
On the topic of some not "growing up" around people who made "good hair" seem better. I think it's more experience, personality, training & people close to you. I grew up around dad's family with light skin and straight hair who didn't make a big deal over my sister(kinky hair/dark skin.) My dad always complimented our hair , smooth skin and how pretty we were..I didn't notice it on the out side.
@haircrush I definitely get what you're saying and what you're trying to do and I totally respect it :). It's just that for me personally I don't like the term nappy being applied to black people's hair period because of the negative image and connotations associated with it and where it came from. To me, the word nappy is an adjective used to describe our hair, but it's not an actual attribute or characteristic of our hair. To me, "nappy" hair doesn't really exist at all. Kinky/curly hair does.
You took some words right out of my mouth. I agree with everything you said. Although I haven't had that experience with the professor, I still managed to come to the same conclusion. We have to love who we are, the way we are! I want a daughter someday and I want to teach her that she is already beautiful without enhancements of any kind. I am now trying to teach my boys that good hair is healthy hair and that black is beautiful. I enjoyed this video

My gosh I am mixed and wish I had your hair type but my hair is just a mass of frizz!! I would still rather go natural then straight though

I got a relaxer when I was in 7th grade. I didn't want one but my mom decided I should get one and I went with it. I went back to natural by the end of eighth grade.

Going natural is when you are truly relaxed. Cause you are content with your natural texture and accept it for what it is and take care of it.

@Jolielove11 watch out with braids tell them to not to go so tight in the front cause braids do tend to thin out the front of your hair and dont keep them in for too long because it starts to pull pulling out ur hair growth and we dont want that also while in braids treat ur roots with castor oil, jojoba and rosemary oils hope this helps also avoid mineral oil at all costs petroluem too

i hate to single my natural hair ladies out, but I have to say your hair is BEAUTIFUL!!! Thanks for making this video. I think my story has some of same things you said, so i definitely feel everything you said.

Laurnea 9 months ago
Thank you so much for inspiring us. I believe the best way to change people's minds is by example. A friend of mine, since I went natural, she doesn't seem to want to relax her hair anymore. You are gorgeous HairCrush!! As you said all textures are pretty. But what we have on our head is what suits us BEST. I have locks (best choice in my life), some relatives look at me funny, yet I get compliments from non-blacks. Why? Cause we just don't realize how beautiful we are.

Girl! I love this video! You have brought up sooo many important issues! It's like you stole allll the words from outta my mouth! I think the #1 reason our hair is shorter is because, as you said, we do so many damaging things to it.
jazzybee445 9 months ago

Mizchika 10 months ago 2
@Mizchika - Castor Oil! Moist your hair, and edges, with water, then apply your LI (leave-in), and then seat your edges, ends, with Castor Oil (a little does go a long way!) it's pretty thick, but don't let that intimidate you, just use very little your hair will be super soft! HTH.
wm0516 9 months ago
@Mizchika - Also massage your hair (scalp, ends and edges) with oil every night (that's when hair grows), with your oil of choice. Some people use Jojoba Oil, because it's very light, and mimics our hair natural seburn. Massaging your hair (with fingers, not nails) will increase circulation and encourage growth in those problem areas! That should help you too, and in the morning, if your hair feels too oily, you can co-wash, or use a sulfate-free shampoo to remove some of the oil! Again, HTH :D
wm0516 9 months ago 3
@wm0516 How could I forget Castor Oil?! It is great for growth as well!! @Mizchika Try different oils until you find which one works the best for you.
HairCrush 9 months ago 3
@HairCrush hell yeah i was perming my hair because as a kid i hated straightening combs and being called corkscrew hair! Once i saw my front sides thinning and being weak,i stop all heat and perms. I can't wait for my full curly hair to come back,6 mos and going strong!!
LadyDarroux 8 months ago
@Mizchika Try the vegetable glycerin and water mix to moisturize your hair. I use 40% glycerin and 60% water. Rosemary is a good oil to stimulate the scalp. I would also suggest that you try jojoba oil because it is an oil that closely mimics the sebum your scalp naturally produces. With love and care your growth will come! :)

Do you ever get shade or hated on because of your hair? Am I alone on that subject?

You took some words right out of my mouth. I agree with everything you said. Although I haven't had that experience with the professor, I still managed to come to the same conclusion. We have to love who we are, the way we are! I want a daughter someday and I want to teach her that she is already beautiful without enhancements of any kind. I am now trying to teach my boys that good hair is healthy hair and that black is beautiful. I enjoyed this video
p.s. Im loving being natural
