The music video recording is simple. I'm in a band, and this is how we do it:

Record your song, then go out with a video crew. Then set up a PA system (moniters) and output your music through it. Then they play along with playing, AS THEY ARE PLUGGED IN. They just play along with their own music, and then cut out the audio from the video takes. Then splice the recorded music with the video, viola, music video.

Jimmy Eat World usually gets called an Emo band because their roots and influences lie with original Emo music.
