I think it has more to do with what to do when you are in a place, if you are hungry, what do you do?, if you are cold, what do you do?, if you need shelter, what do you do? and less of this "I need to overcome my limits" stuff. If you are sitting there now and a water pipe starts leaking and spraying water and your first thought is to call a plumber you should probably stay out of wild places. I think self-reliance starts at home.
