He did not originate this...it was Magic Sam who played this and made one back int he 30/40's before he actually bought a real guitar. Jack should have given props to Magic Sam...

@Udonitron I dont think he is claiming he originated anything. If anything, everything he does is to honor the originators. He constantly makes this clear in interviews.

I realize that. I was informing others who might possibly think he did so. Just giving people some facts where they might otherwise no know them. You will notice other people's videos where they are making this same guitar and calling it Jack White's guitar etc...just a good idea to give credit where credit is due. I didn't see Jack letting people know it ; )

Well as far as we know and it being documented, Magic Sam was the 1st to use a 2x4, a piece of wire, and a bottle ; ) I never said he was the 1st to create or invent a stringed instrument, just this particular set up and Jack never gave props. IMO Jack is a total emo poser but that is for another discussion all together ; )

Me for myself I wish to live in 70s man!Jack is one of my favourite musician because I can identify myself with parts of him. Also I like his music and his whole entire empire around Third Man Records. I never saw something like this. Even Trent Reznor, my second fav musician never created an empire so big. We all have an idol and sometimes we wish to be, even just a little, to be like them

But is that what music is about? Creating an empire? Is that what it means to you? Reznor could have done it but he is not that type of guy. We all can relate to any musical artist out there as we are all human. Artists who get themselves famous are more likely to reach people that they would never otherwise and thus we relate to their thoughts. I do nto think I have ever liked a band based upon relating to their thoughts per say. I grew up in the 70's it was a great time man.

@Udonitron dude i guarantee is was not Magic Sam at a time when tungsten pickups were damn near impossible to remove from a guitar with out destroying them, also they were ridiculously expensive and I doubt a guy named "Magic Sam" had the means and the money to take apart an electric guitar just for the pick up. if youre talking about one-stringed guitars a.k.a a "bo diddley" it was not Magic Same either so Jack needs to give credit to NO ONE.

@brownclownsfrown that's funny because I'm pretty sure he was a recording artist in the late 50's and wasn't even born until 1937 so...i doubt he was making guitars in his infancy. also when you start off and argument with a "first of all..." well, normal people tend to have a "second of all".
