This looks awesome man I love it! Is this a 55 gallon? If so I have the same size tank and I'm gonna pick up a black tip catfish(idk what it's called) or it's a white tip catfish
I am extremely jealous of this tank! I want to do a brackish tank this size or maybe a little bigger in the next few years. My current 37gal brackish tank allows for little wiggle room, and my scats deserve better. This is a gorgeous set up. Good work!
What a busy brackish tank. Feeding time must be result in a mad feeding frenzy. I've always prefered a lazy tank filled with gobies as my base fish. Don't listen to people about the puffer. In an large active tank with large shoaling fish, the puffer is not a threat. I only found puffers a threat when there numbers are great and are the dominate feeders
That is a black molly. It is not suitable for a tank with much larger and more active monos and scats, even though the owner seems to know his subject.
rainbows can be brackish?? weird... i have two just like urs in fresh and im thinking about making the tank salt water again (as it used to be) but maybe ill try brackish... but im gunna read up on the rainbow thing first just in case urs didnt make it...no offense
Not really, naturally they are hard water alkaline freshwater fish and salt water is naturally hard water and alkaline anyway, so as long as the salinity is low (SG 1.005 max they should be fine.)
Celebes rainbowfish will tolerate higher than 1.005 as they are partially-brackish.
Many fishkeeping friends, some who have kept fish for over 30 years, told me this. I also had a bad experience in which my juvie GSP nipped my five other fish until they developed fin rot in the raw areas and died.
when I got them they where just over, a size of a quarter, very small. Feed allot of Veg matter they love orange ,zuccani and red alge sheets. I feed them veg and fruit matter first, second with a highier protien matter fish food such as dried shrimp pellet, spectrum color , wadley marine color flake . It is very important that they don't eat to much protien. They are grazers naturaly and have a crazy appitite .
You would be better off starting with a 50 to 75 gallon but you could get away with a 30. The problem is that they are aggressive fish. You need to keep in a small school of fish so they can spread there aggregation and have alot of caves
what is the difference between brackish water and freshwater, and what if I put freshwater fish in the brackish, would they die, please reply..................................
Yes they will die. There is salt in a brackish tank and the ph is also higher. There are many fish that can handle low salt levels and the use of Aquarium salt can be used when treating fish that are ill ,it will be at you local fish store.(that is not marine salt) If you want to start a brackish I can give you a some advice on fish and water perimeters.

With your archer fish, do you feed it small insects so it can jump out of the water? In the wild this is what they would do.

yes crickets

DR117 3 years ago 2
well it is not just the fish size it is also that you will need yo put lots of rock(caves) and gravel which takes up allot of space also

Malawi tank
Temp: 75-80
Ph 7.8-8.6
You can use a aragonite sand or crushed coral to keep ph level
