  • Sure you have the freedom to own and fire a weapon like this in the USA. But if I had the same freedom here, I still wouldn't feel the need to exercise it.

  • Acquiring/loading/firing isn't easy, but it is still legal in America....thank God.

  • @RMGOfreedom For deer hunting/home defense, of course.

  • Americans....

  • where on earth do you get these guns/ammo/fire them?

  • I wonder how many fucking piece of shit COPS, BATF, and other 'Government' goons are planted in this crowd?

  • i use this to shoot annoying cats at night

  • This goin on my x-mas list

  • GEEE-WILICKERS!!!

  • '

is this gun can hit and destroy ussr russia T-90 tank

  • It's still a 57mm shell its fires and the rounds could be adapted for more efficient armour piercing effects.

  • GEE WILLICKERS!

  • Bigfoot, I beg to differ, the USA knew, saw and had enough time to upgrade our weapons since the Franco war in Spain. Yet we fail big time to take the slack and do anything other than bazokoss, sachtel changes and unexploded art. shells in the treads. Even after WW2 we fail our troops again in Korea when the Commies had the T-34 and the 76mm.

  • That last guy shat himself

  • Fartcloud is right. A lot of weaponry that looked just awesome in the 30s was obsolete very shortly after WW II started. The Sherman tank was never meant to fight tank on tank. It had a low velocity 75mm to knock out bunkers and such for infantry support. It was okay for what it was designed to do but due to the battle situation was pressed into service attempting to take out tanks of far newer design and capability. Good thing they were relatively easy to repair.

  • I think they used that same gun to artificially inseminate Oprah Winfrey

  • how do you ge the ammo

  • @kullas924

You have to load your own. And it's a darn involved process.

  • 00:01 is how i great trick or treater's

  • Why didn't the guy in Caddy Shack have one of these?

  • see the gunner flinch lol

  • @sigmatus303

Fella, it's almost IMPOSSIBLE not to flinch.

  • Chuck Norris dual wields that gun

  • Great Brit design - nice to see them still popping them out over the pond.

  • Niceee, im seen this in CoH a lot, i just wanted to see it in real life.

  • How does one go acquiring one of these guns? Are they loaned from museums?

  • @cyanidecn In America, these are legal to own, though it takes quite a bit of paperwork and an FBI Background enema. They are EXTREMELY pricey, thanks to the NRA selling us out with 1986 McClure-Volkmer.

  • @RMGOfreedom LOL legal to own :P

without any plumbing of the barrel?

  • @abbiss89 "Plumbing of the barrel"? Do you mean de-milling?

Yes, in America, a FIRING, operational 57mm is considered a "Destructive Device" by the BATFE, but is legal to own.

It's called freedom. Try it sometime.

  • @RMGOfreedom i didn't know what it was called in english. Freedom?! I'm from Norway for f*** sake.

The only weapons you can own is a hunting rifles and pistols with a hunter's licence and a couple of tests.

  • @abbiss89 Vote with your feet -- flee that socialist hell-hole.

  • @RMGOfreedom hehe you got a point. I was going to vote on a right wing party but was on a military excersice when the voting was. Fucking lefty's

  • would this work for pesky cats?

  • holy crap i wonder what wound happen to a person standing right behind the gun... hehe

  • @submit2520 We always clear the area directly behind the weapon (for 50 yards or more), in case of a malfunction.

  • wohoooooo rednecks!!!!

  • Lets see Obama try to take these guns from these people.

  • that gun was the worst artillery piece in WW2 :))

  • @TheFartcloud your name aptly describes you. It certainly was not the best, but certainly not the worst

  • Comment removed

  • @realtruth3 Dodn't judge a book by the cover.

Is it an AT gun? Was that gun mounted on the Churchill tank? Why the Britts didn't mount a 17 pdr on the Churchill? It would have been a fuckin Beast Killer.

And, realtruth3 what you think was the worst and the best AT gun of the WW2?

  • @TheFartcloud Best was the Russian 100mm BS-3 and the worst could have been the British 2 Pounder.

The 57mm had MV of 2800 FPS, could defeat most Panzer iv's, ii's, iii's, stugs, hetzers, marders. which made up 80% of germany's tanks. With APDS ammo was still effective at the end of the war and with HE ammo was a dual purpose weapon. Also had a low sillouette, easy to conceal.

  • @realtruth3 What about Soviet A-19 (or D-12) 122mm, inittialy a field gun, that was mounted on IS-2 tank (maybe I got some data wrong about that)? And you didn't answerthe quwstion was the 57mm mounted on Churchill tank?

  • @TheFartcloud Are we talking anti-tank guns towed or guns mounted on tanks? If we are talking anti-tank guns towed, the russian 122mm was hard to handle and was prone to have problems in the field. Yes the six pounder was mounted on the churchhill. I agree that the churchill tanks was underguned and so was the sherman, even with the 76mm. The 17 pounder on the fireflyand the 90mm of the m36 jackson wer excellent tanks but still underarmored. But that is why the western allies had a airforce

  • @realtruth3 why does it matter, towed or turret mounted? Take a towed gun, strip the wheels and other unnecessary shit, and you can stick it in a turret. And about the 122 mm Soviet cannon, when heavier German tanks appeared, CK send a commission to find the best AT gun on the battlefield. The commission chose the 122 mm. That gun was killing the heaviest German tanks at long range. I wouldn't agree that it was hard and unreliable. I think that gun was mounted on tanks even after the war

  • @TheFartcloud

They actually did mount the 17pdr on a Churchill chassis. It was called the A43 Black Prince , and unfortunatly only 6 were built after the war was over.

  • @baseballseb Can I see somewhere that A43 Black Prince? Churchill looks almost ridiculously undergunned, I would like to see it with a BFG!

  • @baseballseb Not really "unfortunently", the design never went into production because the much superior Centurion came into service. Same armor, doubt the speed (had a merlin in it), sloped armor, much more modern design.

  • @TheFartcloud Turret ring, Churchill didn't have one that was big enough to allow the 17lber to be mounted. This was the big issue with British tank design, rail tunnel width limited the width the tank could be so it could be moved by trains, plus the British put the hull of the tank between the tracks which further reduced how big the turret ring could be.

THe Sherman's hull in comparison sits above the tracks so it could have a wider turret ring, and could be upgunned.

  • @TheFartcloud It wasn't an "artillery piece". It was a direct fire anti-tank gun. It worked on the light and medium German Panzers, but yes, when PZ IV's came out they weren't much help.

Still useful to fire HE rounds on infantry emplacements, though.

  • @RMGOfreedom

the panzer 4 was in use even in since the Polish Campaign

  • @RMGOfreedom - yes, but in 1944 a limited supply of APCR shot made them effective against a counter attack by Tigers that threatened the British beaches.

  • @RMGOfreedom The British designed a very good Grenade for this Gun which was able to kill Panzers 4 who dont had the 30mm extra armor bolted to Front.this Grenade design is still in use today, its the Fin Stabilised Amor Piercing Discarding Sabot all Tanks today uses it

  • @RMGOfreedom It would have ripped through infantry like a hot knife through butter lol

  • Comment removed

  • @RMGOfreedom The PzIV actually WAS a medium tank. The PzIII (classified as "light tank")- was projected to engage enemy tanks- so better armoured than the "IV."

The winning edge of the PzIV were its upgrading capabilities, that - at the end of the world, made it as deadly for T34's or Shermans as the Panthers were, although not as safe.

To knock out a Panther or a Tiger, however, the allied had only the 18 pounder gun or the "Typhoons".

This gun could have worked only in war's earliest phase.

  • @RMGOfreedom What do you mean wherent much help? These cannons could still penetrate the Ausf H at normal ranges. Hell the british even developed APDS shells wich where issued in large numbers, and it could penetrate even the tiger tank

  • @RMGOfreedom ATG, Mortar, Howitzer, all considered a type of artillery. You mistaken artillery for howitzers, which is incorrect. The 6 pounder is comparable to the M4's M3 75mm.

  • @TheFartcloud The 6 pounder/ 57mm at gun claimed the first Tiger kill in Africa...

  • @TheFartcloud Aptly named

  • at 0:33 you hear an MG-42 in the background.

  • GEE WILL-LICKERS

  • MAn 0:24, that guy fell on his arse! dang nabbit!

  • Great vid we have no rights in europe because we don't have the right to bear arms, frigging nanny states.God Bless America

  • haha no match to a pak40

  • @AdlerDesOstens

But who's got a firing pak40 in the U.S.?? I'd love to fire that.

  • @AdlerDesOstens PAK40 was a 75mm so not surprising it was no match for the 17pdr/76MM.

  • @elswick1542 aww dawm I my bad I wanted to say Pak 38 the 50mm

  • @AdlerDesOstens Off all the WW2 guns I would like to see an 88mm FLAK/PAK gun fire.

  • @elswick1542 mhm that would be awesome.....especially if they would use original ammo.....

but shooting the 12,8 Pak 44 would be even better^^

  • @AdlerDesOstens

It would be more appropriate to compare the Pak 40 with the 17 pounder - the 6 pounder still had its uses due to better portability.

  • @Twirlyhead concering caliber and firepower the pak40 was equal to the 17pounder ....... but if u consider the weight of the two AT Guns , the pak40 was superior ..........it was much lighter and smaler .....

  • @AdlerDesOstens Pak 40 did 99mm at 100 yards using standard APCBC ammo. The 17 pounder did 149mm at 100 yards using APCBC shot. The Pak 40 is NOT the equal of the 17 pounder, heck the standard 88 (Tiger I or Flak variants) is inferior in power to the 17lber.

Pak 40 is an earlier generation of gun, and its smaller and lighter due to it being less powerful, you could get away with a smaller carriage.

  • 'Geee-Wilikers'

  • Can I gets Me one for me backyard

  • LOL

    "Gee willikers!"

  • @xGothimox

No it would just break his knee caps and snap his legs. The recoil on that gun is horrendous.

  • Im sure you cant man and shout them unless you want the FBI on you

  • God bless youtube!!! I see these old relic tank busters all over in parks. Now for a change I can see them all being fired in color!!!!

  • Imagine if that recoil hit the guys face.

  • You can't even fire the small arms (even semi-auto) from WWII. Time to start a revolution against socialism in the UK, elswick1542.

  • 100% agree!

  • Im just curious, can you buy new ammo from manufacturers as long as they dont have any explosives in them?

For example, could/would General Dynamics ordinance sell you a M831A1 120mm trainer (no explosive warhead)

also, is it possible (with the correct paperwork/licences) to refubish a demilled tank (e.g. Leopard 1A3) and have it classed as a Destructive Device?

  • @wolfyys No, it's not. Thank the NRA -- they're the clowns who passed McClure-Volkmer, which limited the number of transferable machine guns and DD's in America to those made in 1986 and earlier.

  • Great video fantastic gun,6PDR/57MM great to actually see this gun fire,in the UK they are just dead museum pieces this one LIVES!

  • @elswick1542 Hell, ALL decent firearms in the UK are museum pieces....damn socialist country.

  • @RMGOfreedom You'll find that the left wing hasn't got it's head in it's ass as deep as the right one does.

  • @RMGOfreedom Yeah, that damn socialist country has better living standards and free healthcare for everyone unlike that damn capitalist country america!

  • @cookman283 Better living standards - jog on, I live in the UK. We have the highest rates of Hep. C in Europe, highest number of teenage pregnancies, a huge social underclass who thrive on voluntary unemployment and whose only purpose in life is to breed and rape the benefit system , the healthcare might be free........ but we are not and never will be as people like yourself think we have such a good deal. If I could get a green card - the UK would be a distant fucking memory.

  • @bundywundy666 You think anyone gives a crap about your view? No, provide us with something other than an anecdote please! You may think the countries crap, but anyone can list negatives about a country and blow them out of proportion!

For proof UK is a better place to live, may I direct your attention to the HDI, Literacy, Life expectancy etc. Thank you very much! Oh, and also, if you look to the top of the lists you'll see Australia, damn that socialist country with its citizen benefits!

  • @cookman283

    Spoken like a good Marxist.

  • @cookman283 ..dude,...chill...

  • Yep - US made British 6 pounder AT gun.

Good piece of kit - a battery of these stopped a mass counterattack on position Snipe at the Battle of El Alamein. Awesome video and knowing these are still in action today. Bravo!!

  • British 6 pounder used in North Africa by the 8th Army (Desert Rats) against the Afrika Korp. Good against panzer IIIs and IVs but later replaced by the 17 pounder AT gun that was fitted onto the Sherman Firefly, 17 pounder was a Tiger and Panther killer.

  • "17 pounder was a Tiger and Panther killer. "

Thats true and it had a low profile in contrast with the 88mm. Allied weapons of ww2 have always been underestimated. (17 pounder, T34, p51 and spitfire, sturmovnik, m1 rifle etc) in general western ally and sowiet weapons were better then German. Except mayby for the panther and mg42.

  • @diadorim1234

i think thats true. well the german tanks and guns were good, but not as EFFECTIVE as they could have been.

the angled armor on the t34 was a stroke of genius... (though it was often overmatched by the german 75mm)- not so the armor of the tiger 1. 30° at max. iirc? no need to say it was totally underpowered.

and only for the record, im german! xD

  • Yeah right! How is it you read, write, and speak English? Learning a language doesn't make you from that country if you don't live there. If you live in the United States your an American, if your live Canada your a Canadian. I don't believe for a minute that you live in Germany. The English gives you away pal.

  • i really love those guns.i wish i could own one

  • lol that lady at the beginning, "gee willickers" HAHA love it

  • are those dummie rounds or live? and how much do those things run for the average citizen like 600 grand?

  • The rounds are live and they cost around 100.00 each. The 57mm ATG's sell for around 35,000 to 40,000

  • were can i get live ammo that sized for a 37mm instead of 57

  • Generally the one without the facts is considered the moron.

Only about 1360 Tiger I's were built. 2.6% of German Tank production.

Only about 500 Tiger II's were built. Less than 1% of German Tank production.

82% of German Tanks were Panzer III's , IV's and smaller.

The bazooka was a fine weapon, that is why the germans copied it as soon as they captured one.

Enjoy that wild life of yours, going out on the weekends and such. I am going to go and take a nap now.

  • Which company manufactured the gun?

  • forget bout our toys with obama now :S

  • hahah lots of kick, youre almost as liable to get hurt as the enemy if you dont watch it

  • The concussion behind the gun is enormous. And yes, my friends have to be VERY careful firing the thing. In one clip we have it shows one of the owners' sons getting tagged....."That'll leave a mark."

  • Nice! :)

  • If you define rednecks as uneducated, relative-molesting dirtballs, then you're way off base.

The owner of the 57mm (and his wife, Mrs. "Gee-wilakers") are probably the sharpest, and most morally upright, Anti-Tank owners in America....heh.

  • gee wilakers! batman

  • gotta love them rednecks!

  • These guys -- all members of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners -- are FREEDOM lovers, who live in a State and Country where there is still some small measure of freedom.

That's why people join our group.

  • Who are these guys and why do they have access to military weaponry? lol

  • this is so going into my wishlist next christmas

  • 5...4...3...2....1 and boom? thats fast :o

  • gee willakers!

  • imagine that thing kickin back n hitin u in the face

  • gee wilakers!

  • 6 POUNDER!

  • Very cool. Need to show some rounds.....thats a big bad boy!

  • Ya gotta love it. Those of other countries who've given up your right to self-armament, toooo baaaad!! Hah!

  • Lol we just join the TA and go once a week and get to play with much bigger toys (Y)

  • second world war Sexton Self Propelled guns perhaps?....

  • The gun being shot is a World War II 57mm Anti-tank Gun. It was a towed gun that was hauled by halftrack of 2 1/2 ton truck.

  • How much damage would that piece really do against a tank? I mean it wouldn't even scratch a Tiger?

  • No - the 6pdr. round from this weapon used to just bounce off Tiger frontal armour, so you're right in one way.

But early-production Tigers deployed to Tunisia in early 1943 were destroyed by well-placed 6pdr. guns in ambush positions; firing at Tigers' side armour.

  • @scarlebloke

yup, especially as the sides were 8cm at 90°...

well you could go for the 6cm between tracks and upper side hull, but thats a slime line.

i used to do this in battleground europe.

once i took out a tiger with a long french 47mm mounted on a laffly... as i drove by him. :D
