  • i was working that day, i was so pissed! I wish I was there

  • elmartinsen and jp, you guys are close, so let me get you the rest of the way. I agree with you that Bush is blowing our money on this war and all the oil crap. Bush IS screwing us. The reason this happened is because our government is so freaking BIG. The problem with Obama is that he thinks the solutions to everything is more government, ie. socialism. Would you want your life run like the DMV is run?

  • Jonathan, I really appreciate your comments on this video. I hope you actually took the time to look over what you said about Obama thinking that the solution is socialism. Tell me my friend, where does he say that in this 55 second clip? In fact, I don't think he's ever said that he is hoping to turn America to socialism.

  • To add onto my comment below I will say this: There is a difference between Socialism and Social Programs, and I hope I do not need to explain that to you. Do us all a favor and stop pulling on incorrect facts, stop accusing a man who actually cares about your voice, and do some actual research before you say something like "Do you want your life run like the DMV." It just makes you look ignorant.

  • Tell me this, does a progressive tax that we currently have more resemble capitalism or socialism? Does a welfare program more resemble socialism or capitalism? Does a government that can print money at will causing your dollar to automatically be worth more resemble socialism or capitalism?

  • correction: your dollar to be worth "less" not "more". The US becomes more socialist every year because politicians are in the business of government, so they're building it up and taxing us more. Barack just wants more government. Ron Paul is the only candidate who doesn't want to take your money and spend it on whatever "Social Program" he fancies.

  • If we get the stupid government off our backs and stop taxing us to death and blowing our money on inefficient projects, the free market will take care of the rest. During the cold war, we won because we were capitalist. We believed in free market. What's sad is that we are becoming the socialist economy that Russia was. We're becoming the same thing that we defeated 40 years ago!

  • k2jonathan you suck. Maybe if our money was actually going into fuel efficiency research, automakers would be able to improve mpg. Instead billions of dollars are going to the poor oil companies all because they are friends with Bush.

  • THIS GUY IS GREAT

  • i went to see that speech. it was really good. some lady was so excited she fainted

  • The reason that all the auto makers were quiet is because everyone was thinking to themselves..."Is this guy serious? He's joking right. Of course we're doing the best we can to get cars to 40-45 mpg. It's not like it's magic. Does he think these cars just appear out of thin air? Damn idiot. We don't go into the White House and instruct him on how to lie to high school students and people without brains."

  • k2jonathan is misinformed. The technology for much higher fuel standards is already here--no magic needed. Even China requires almost twice the fuel efficiency as U.S. cars. What's missing so far is the political will to stand up to the auto makers and the oil companies. Obama has the will! The name calling doesn't do much good in the face of the facts!

  • For your information: Volkswagen and other car companies make (non-hybrid) cars that get 60-80mpg!!!! But they are only found in European countries... (google it yourself) So, don't tell me that the problem is that we don't have to "magic" to create these kinds of vehicles.
