I didn't read the comics but Schumacher version of Bane made my hurl... I was really hoping to see Nolan's version of the riddle... or the pinguin but welll... I hope that Nolan is going to make one ore to sequels more because his versions rocks
Anne has been casted as Selina Kyle only; there is no word of her actually doning the Catwoman suit at the moment, but most likely she won't as Bane is the only villian this movie needs to focus on; he'll probably end up "breaking the bat"

I completely trust Christopher Nolan with his decisions. I actually like Anne Hathaway so I'm good with that. But I haven't seen any Tom Hardy movies, I don't think, so I don't know about him. But either way, I'm excited.
I don't think people know what a dynamic character Bane is. He's atypically meaning he is not a big dump muscle guy like we got in Batman and Robin. He's really smart and he basically could be one of the most dangerous villains batman faced. He broke Batman's back helllooo!!!!! Another thing he was left to die in a violent society at a young age. Making him have the motivation to train to perfection both physically and mentally. So if they write him correctly he could be a very good.
Hathaway is a brilliant actress and will own the Catwoman role. As for Bane he's an intimidating character for those that don't follow the comics so the action scenes will be awesome. Riddler, Penguin etc. will get primary roles in future sequels :) (hopefully by Christopher Nolan fingers crossed)

I know Hathaway only from Princess Diary. My reaction about the choice of actor is the same with Ledger. "Crap, they choosed Ledger!!! What are they thinking about. He is not Joker. Now you done it, Nolan. Ruined it." Well, I missjudge Ledger because he did it great, maybe the best Joker in all time.

I'm surprised it's Bane because of his body size in the comics. But it's probably not about the looks of Bane. No one has the build to play Bane exactly...most of the good actors are not 6'8", gorilla looking juice heads. They may have a different interpretation of Bane; that is why they chose Tom. And I don't see them wasting Hardy behind a wrestling mask either.
You might not know much about Bane, so I'll tell you why Tom Hardy (while I love him and I am psyched) is weirder castling than Anne Hathaway, which I think is not bad casting. Bane is a Mexican drug dealer and Tom Hardy is British.
will be interesting to see the take on Bane, not a huge follower of the comics but from what i know he is kinda huge... so could be interesting seeing how that aspect is dealt with. Pretty sure its obvious that catwoman won't be the fully fledged villain, just messing around with batman a bit maybe. I'm not as excited as everyone is about Anne being Catwoman. Anne has an odd shaped body, which is why in most of the movies she does these days they stay focused on her face. I'm not looking forward to seeing her in a leather suit or watching her try to be athletic-- which we know she's not. I don't get the Anne Hathaway hate. She's a good actress, and she's sexy enough to manage it for the sort of outfit I think Nolan will pick. If anything, Hardy makes less sense. Bane is meant to be big, and he has his face hidden. Hardy isn't half as bulky - hell, he doesn't look like he'd even be as big as Christian Bale - and there's nothing distinct about his voice or mannerisms.

I think it would be cool if Scarecrow took the centre stage as the villain and have Bane as like the muscle of the duo or trio if Catwoman joins in, hell, if Scarecrow made a stronger fear gas than maybe we might have a little Man-Bat cameo when Batman fights Bane.

@alebenns There is a big difference between Heath Ledgers Role and Catwomans though. On top of it Heath Ledger was an amazing actor and did great things with a number of movies. I hear you! It is a big blow to the Batman Trilogy. Bane is a good move, I hate Anne Hathaway though. I would have preferred Catwoman in a really limited role with Hugo Strange as the main villain and Bane as his Body Guard. Black Mask as the Hitman, and possibly Man Bat/Clayface or a sick blend of Brutes. I just feel that Nolan should have went for the sickest and craziest script he could think of to represent the chaos in Gotham. We waited forever just for this? I hope not!

The biggest blow to this whole decision was how long it took them to release the main villains to the public. Why did he drag it on for so long for it to be Catwoman? Bane is awesome and I know he will do something cool I am just a little disappointed in the lack of effort to think of a better script. They wrote a script at the last minute and Nolan was wrapped up with Inception.
This is not fake. The roles are official. I'd rather see Hathaway in a Chris Nolan film rather than Jessica Biel or Keira Knightley, who she beat out for the role. Much better acting chops i assume. Tom Hardy as Bane i can see. But i was hoping they would have done him as Hugo Strange. Mainstream audience would have been more in the unknown for that villian. But Chris Nolan's vision will most likely win me over.
The Rise of Clayface's Empire would of been cool. With maybe the Penguin or a figure like Two Face coming back. I just feel like this is to on set with what the commercial realm wants. I hope it's speculation. I want Bane in the movie but not so much Catwoman.
Let's hope that it's rumors because for this to just be released like this that Catwoman is the Main Villain is a blow. Bane is awesome but Catwoman I just don't like. Unless there happened to be several more Villains that were the Main Villains and she has a defined role. I just hope they try not to focus on the romantic side of Bruce Wayne and make this as creepy as possible. I would of loved to see some kind of weird experimenting being done where brute were being made.

Don't question Christopher Noland's directing. He knows what he is doing. People thought heath ledger would suck and I must say that he has done the best job in my opinion to portray a villain ever. I am not worried at all.
Cat Woman and Bain are too coomic book like and over the top for Nolan's Batman series. Those two villans (or mabe hero for Cat Woman) will ruin the realistic feel that the last two movies created so well.

I know Hathaway only from Princess Diary. My reaction about the choice of actor is the same with Ledger. "Crap, they choosed Ledger!!! What are they thinking about. He is not Joker. Now you done it, Nolan. Ruined it." Well, I missjudge Ledger because he did it great, maybe the best Joker in all time.
I will give Hathaway a chance. Maybe Nolan choosed her because she fits for the character which will be formed depending of the storyline, like Two-face, who wasn't the big criminal leader.

I'm surprised it's Bane because of his body size in the comics. But it's probably not about the looks of Bane. No one has the build to play Bane exactly...most of the good actors are not 6'8", gorilla looking juice heads. They may have a different interpretation of Bane; that is why they chose Tom. And I don't see them wasting Hardy behind a wrestling mask either.

will be interesting to see the take on Bane, not a huge follower of the comics but from what i know he is kinda huge... so could be interesting seeing how that aspect is dealt with. Pretty sure its obvious that catwoman won't be the fully fledged villain, just messing around with batman a bit maybe. I have a feeling there could be some of the whole Bane breaks Batman story aspect though due to the title Dark Knight Rises... just spit ballin here guys

I'm not as excited as everyone is about Anne being Catwoman. Anne has an odd shaped body, which is why in most of the movies she does these days they stay focused on her face. I'm not looking forward to seeing her in a leather suit or watching her try to be athletic-- which we know she's not. As a fan of Catwoman, I'm bummed that these big movie companies are so incapable of doing the character justice.

yes, it's weird choice... when I heard it, but when I thought about it, it's pretty good choice. I was expecting the riddler, when it was announced it's not going to be him, I expected to be the black mask. Well I think they were chosen because their previous incarnations (Catwoman and Batman & Robin) were pretty horrible. Hathaway is a pretty good choice: talented actress and pretty. Let's just see what's going to happen, but I'm excited

I don't get the Anne Hathaway hate. She's a good actress, and she's sexy enough to manage it for the sort of outfit I think Nolan will pick. If anything, Hardy makes less sense. Bane is meant to be big, and he has his face hidden. Hardy isn't half as bulky - hell, he doesn't look like he'd even be as big as Christian Bale - and there's nothing distinct about his voice or mannerisms.

When I first heard "Anne Hathaway as Catwoman" I was kind of like, "Whaaaat?" But when I think about it, I think she actually may be able to pull it off. We only usually see the lovey sort of side of her and I think this role will be a good opportunity to show another side of her. It's odd when you first hear it, but I wouldn't give up on her.

@alebenns There is a big difference between Heath Ledgers Role and Catwomans though. On top of it Heath Ledger was an amazing actor and did great things with a number of movies. I just see a commercial route for the outro of this trilogy nothing more. Sounds like garbage, I wish they would have added in Hugo and the league of shadows with Talia Al Ghuls Role. Now that would be awesome instead of toxins now u have experiments going on where Hugo is making Mutants for his army.

I hear you! It is a big blow to the Batman Trilogy. Bane is a good move, I hate Anne Hathaway though. I would have preferred Catwoman in a really limited role with Hugo Strange as the main villain and Bane as his Body Guard. Black Mask as the Hitman, and possibly Man Bat/Clayface or a sick blend of Brutes. I just feel that Nolan should have went for the sickest and craziest script he could think of to represent the chaos in Gotham. We waited forever just for this? I hope not!

The biggest blow to this whole decision was how long it took them to release the main villains to the public. Why did he drag it on for so long for it to be Catwoman? Bane is awesome and I know he will do something cool I am just a little disappointed in the lack of effort to think of a better script. They wrote a script at the last minute and Nolan was wrapped up with Inception.

This is not fake. The roles are official. I'd rather see Hathaway in a Chris Nolan film rather than Jessica Biel or Keira Knightley, who she beat out for the role. Much better acting chops i assume. Tom Hardy as Bane i can see. But i was hoping they would have done him as Hugo Strange. Mainstream audience would have been more in the unknown for that villian. But Chris Nolan's vision will most likely win me over.

Let's hope that it's rumors because for this to just be released like this that Catwoman is the Main Villain is a blow. Bane is awesome but Catwoman I just don't like. Unless there happened to be several more Villains that were the Main Villains and she has a defined role. I just hope they try not to focus on the romantic side of Bruce Wayne and make this as creepy as possible. I would of loved to see some kind of weird experimenting being done where brute were being made.
