If I were stranded on a desert island all I would need would be the whole of the Bruce catalogue and something to play it on. What more could a girl ask for....except Bruce himself of course x x
The Darkness set is coming,Dave Marsh talked about it on Estreet nation on Sirius,Jon Landau said it will be out in 2010,sounds like it will include a concert dvd from the '78 tour like on the Born To R un set,I have not heard about a documentary, hopefully it will have something like what the BTR set had.
@plofus Where is the Darkness set?It sucks to see that 5 months ago I was shooting my mouth off about the Darkness set ,considering I have forgot about it,I'm sure it was Marsh on his E street nation show on Sirius,it's actually time for 'The River's 30th.
Springsteen's music came into my life, about ten years ago, and boy did I need him. He's one of the great's and an inspiration. I've only ever heard this song on the Tracks Boxset, but this version is spellbinding. Thank you very much for sharing this.

Funny that the guy you says "when it comes to luck you make your own" supports policies where the govt does everything for everyone and you don't make your own breaks. God forbid if i ever have his success and the govt takes all my stuff away in the name of "social/economic justice." but hey, this commie is a good songwriter!

well said. I love his music, but it is funny that he has been a multi millionaire from the age of 20 yet he is so poignant when it comes to singing the blues about being a factory worker! Has the Boss ever been an employee I wonder? oh no wait....a really good artist and an awful politician.Keep singin' Bruce and keep your Marxist opinion to yourself pretty boy!
fuck you brother ,don;t listen,we just had the worst pres in history ,leave if you don;t like paying taxes try to make that in another country he cares more about this country than you;ll ever will
Great song, good video. Just one suggestion though. Next time, cut back on the "fancy" transitions. Just because you have them, doesen't mean you have to use them all. I would use 90% cut and dissolves between photos, 10% the cool stuff, at the right places. When they are over used...they just get in the way. That is just my humble opinion...take it for what it is worth. Thanks for taking the time and effort to create and share this :)
Yeah it is totally different and not as powerful as this version. It reminds me of Danny Federici. Backstreets was my favorite till heard this earlier this year.
A great slide show but one that still can't match the power of the music. This song is one of the most powerful ever created by the greatest rock-n-roll performer in history. I love this version of The Promise and wish it was more widely accessed. It represents the intersection of anthem singing and crooning.
love the album covers, the shot at 2.45 & all the quotes of his in this...nice! Especially the two about making your own luck & his idea of romance. Id love to know how you did this...nice transition at 4.00!
Great job connielea! Music and pictures are very well matched and I think I can feel how much Bruce means to you... maybe because he means so much to me as well!

i think this is the best version of this amazing song.
it is very powerfull, full of brilliant writing.
no one on this planet can conjure up brilliance like this song and not release it ,like springsteen.
there are dozens and dozens of songs which fans hold dear ,but this one has to be in the top ten of most people, for the writing and meaning alone.
absolutely excellent , grade A +
