  • Great

  • This is hypnotic...

  • pseudo-intellectual jazz, why is this tune called ron cartre?

it beats me, it must be the intellect i presume...

as far as i am concerned it could have the title Harry van Lier, hahaha!

  • yeah guys, it's called Ron Carter and it's from CD `Bill Frisell, Ron Carter, Paul Motian'.

  • LOL where is Ron Carter??! Song is named by him?

  • where is gone Ron Carter? But the this jazz music is very fine, so thanks fpr the post

  • incredible..

  • Please listen to Ron Carter

  • That was amazing. Only just discovered Frisell. His work reminds me of the film composer Thomas Newman. Stunning.

  • Gosh there is so many kickass jazz artist coming at the Montreal yearly Jazz Festival. John Zorn and John Scofield are coming here next summer, among many others.

  • I must be missing something (and no, it's not a sense of music appreciation or a sense of hearing) .... just sounds like so much noise ..... or plays much of what I did back when I used to partake of the herb ..........

  • That may be due to Frisell's "play-along" style. It's more busy than if he was just strumming chords.

It took me a while to fully appreciate it.

  • One man's trash is another man's treasure...

  • @TheMaestroGM w/ all due respect - in that case, you may consider partaking again. If it's just noise to you, you ARE missing something

  • If this doesn't give you goose pimples (bumps) you might want to check you still have a pulse. There is nobody who can touch him. A truly unique voice on guitar. There's so much in there, country, jazz, etc. This is how all guitarists should aspire to sound like, and I'm glad they don't. Thanks for the upload.

  • It reminds me a lot of Boards of Canada, and gives the same atmosphere as Chris Potter's playing as well.

  • I agree!!! Bill has done as much to advance guitar playing as Hendrix and Jim Hall.

  • sacré Bill!

  • Is that a Fender Jaguar neck on that Tele? The headstock looks like the same shape as one.

  • @Sjjags Yes, it surely is .. you can even read the word 'Jaguar' .. it's a short scale ..

  • gracias bathoshue por subir esto tenia muchas ganas de escuchar algo en directo de frisell haciendo un estilo como en su disco Floratone .

  • just want to say thanks for sharing...so cool!

  • seriously, quit playing music. nothing I could ever do will be as cool as this.

  • thank you .

  • amazing!

  • God, I'm so glad there's a Bill Frisell.

  • There is no god, but I agree with you, bro! Just wow...

  • If I were god, I would look upon my Bill Frisell and call it good. Then I'd probably put a flamethrower to a bunch of other stuff and take a long weekend.

I'd be a really capricious god.

  • About my "no god" comment, I never knew the subject was that sensitive :-o I'm an atheist, but I have christian fiends, moslim friends... But most important of all: I saw Bill Frisell with John Scofield in North Sea Jazz 2009 :-)

  • It is Ron Miles on trumpet who has been on plenty of Frisell's records and vice-versa

Ron Carter is not on this vid

  • This video starts off with "Blues Dream" and morphs into the song called "Ron Carter". Yes Ron Miles is on trumpet playing on a brilliant Bill Frisell song called "Ron Carter". He often titles his tunes after people.

  • Yes, this is exquisite.

  • Beautiful thanks

  • great!i was there...is this available?where'd u get it?

    thanks

  • One of the greatest modern guitarists alive.

  • Tocksik, the tune is called 'Ron Carter'. There's a really good version of it on Frisell's 'East West' album.

  • Really cool tune. Several questions though - a) what is it called, b) where is Ron Carter, and c) who is the slide player and what exactly is that that he's playing?

  • a)ron carter, b)ron carter is a bass player and is not playing in the band, although they did release some material together in a trio with paul motian, c)the slide player is greg leisz and has a shit-ton of other projects.

  • I'd say it's in a slow 6/8 time feel

  • does anyone know what time signature this in?

  • Beautiful!

  • live in montreal...le spectrum.....

  • Is there a DVD of this stuff available? Blues Dream is such a great recording. I'd looooove to have a copy of this group playing this music live.

  • Best Bill Frisell song ever.

  • thanks a 1,ooo,ooo :)matt chamberlain is the greatest
