Google him and you will see he has played with the best of the best forever. To include: The Crusaders, Celine Dion, Madonna, Yolanda Adams, Destiny’s Child, Dave Koz, Mary J. Blige, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, George Duke, George Benson, Luther Vandross, Barbara Streisand, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Patrice Rushen, Backstreet Boys, Al Jarreau, Joe Sample, Patti Labelle, Chicago, Elton John, “American Idol”; “Don’t Forget The Lyrics” and currently on the Jay Leno Show.
I've seldom heard a guitarist play as many styles as well as he does. He was the best part of the band on American Idol. The new guy they have isn't fit to carry Paul Jackson's amp!
Paul Jackson Jr. is a true legend who deserves all the success given on to him in this industry. As a guitarist myself, his style of Jazz, Pop, and Funk has been a major influence on my style of playing. Keep up the good work!!
For those who don't know who Paul jackson Jr is. Paul is a master studio guitarist who has worked with Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, George Benson, and is currently the main session guitarist for American Idol. So check yo selves fools!!!!
@6stringslinger You're absolutely right. Paul is one of those quiet but really talented guys that nobody outside the business knows about but almost everyone has heard play on some major album at some point. It's just too bad that he isn't more appreciated by the masses. But that's to be expected when someone is primarily a session musician. They are the quiet wizards behind the scenes & are also one of the biggest reasons why so many albums sound as good as they do.
@Uziel005 - It's still spelled "heard," you cretinous piece of dog shit. Moreover, fucktard, "its" and it's are not interchangeable. You must shovel shit for a living, because someone as clearly illiterate as you as couldn't possibly hold a job that necessitates writing anything. All talking shit aside, you truly are laughably stupid.
Whoa! I knew Paul had talent, but not like this. He played the hell out of this classic. I can't stop bouncing in my chair. That's my brother from another mother!
the PRS factory must have very poor facilities, it's the only major guitar factory in the US not capable of producing left handed instruments, either that or Mr Reed-Smith is a fascist who abhors catering for anyone different to himself, the fact he prohibits lefty instruments made in Asia under the PRS banner leads one to assume the latter as they are made in factories that make lefties for many other companies
I love Paul Jackson Jr. This is a nice job on George Benson's "Breezin." Two guitarists that I love & appreciate. I also love Paul Jackson Jr's songs "Encino Shuffle" & "Road to Everlasting"
Hmm...pretty good. I've followed Paul Jackson Jr. for years, and I know he's a phenomenal soloist. HOWEVER, he's like a lot of the other contemporary and smooth jazz guitarists: there's nothing distinguishing about him on his own albums. Truthfully, he was instantly recognizable when cornered the R&B session market in the 80s. You knew his playing right away when you heard it, but now...? Again he's GREAT, but he doesn't standout from the pack.
Seasoned "Pros" like Paul don't get "nervous" at a jam promoting guitars...At most can be pissed with sound problems or stuff like that...not nervous. And he do much more than "got into it"...he do a plain and simple master-class of playin' with awesome fluidity, great and original lines, ideas and tasty class playin'.He's not a youtube shreding tennager wanting to impress some kids playin ultra fast boring licks,he is a f... pro!!!
he just seemed it. ur probly right. in general i do believe that one must have the ability to burn. people who slate burning usually can't themselves.
Love Benson, and love Paul. PJJ did a great job covering this tune. I don't think we should compare who is better but just admire and learn from both. They are both amazing.
i cant let that comment go...RANDY jackson is from american idol, this is PAUL jackson jr..please dont insult paul jackson...randy couldnt tie pauls shoes
I saw PJJ playing guitar on American Idol along with Rickey Minor on bass (during the Taylor Hicks & Co. season). So I see some truth in PJJ being on American Idol.
yeap, and also plays with HOSSANA MUSIC,with people like CHESTER THOMPSON, ALEX ACUÑA, JUSTO ALMARIO, ABRAHAM LABORIEL, TOM BROOKS, RON KENOLY, MARCOS VIDAL AND MORE GREAT MUSICIAN
Right, this is Paul Jackson Jr. a studio guitarist who has had a brilliant career by playing in so many hit records by artists all over the world in different types of music. His playing is great.
i'm ashamed to say the first time i heard this song was when it was used on beavis and buttheads "come to butthead" lol this is a great performance though this guy is amazing....
The amp he is using is the new Prs Private Stock Amp.With a Modern Eagle.I've plated an Eagle Identicle to this one.Talk about jaw droping.Solid brazilian Rosewood neck. You have to try one.
i wonder if george benson has seen this...if he has,he may think twice about ever doing this song again! pjj is one of my faves i wish there were more of him on here to see and hear and enjoy
Paul Jackson plays so diversely and dynamically that yoou can't compare them. George has showed me anything but Jazz guitar.
