There isn't a tap tempo function on the SL compact however the SL range and SL mk II do contain tap tempo buttons

I NEED HELP can any1 help me , i have one of these and i use it will garageband on mac , however i can only use the pads ( which are shit because they are so unresponsive) and the keyboard , whenever i try and use the automap bollocks it doesnt change anything PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME

Well i bought the remote sl . Very satisfied with.. very helpful for the ham flow. Novation automap is a bit overhyped tho. I use the ableton automap and the pots r assigned by ableton 8. And the pads are not usefull but i setted them to either full velocity or nothing so like that i can use them.

Does anyone know how to get the drum pads on the remote sl compact to work when in Pro Tools? I just purchased one and I cant get the pads to trigger any vst's... And how do you how do you customize the pads to whatever sound you prefer.

I checked the tutorial dvd and there us no info and how to setup your drum pads for drums...(Where's Rob Jones When You Need Him!)

I just randomly bought this today and it totally rocks. I have been through over 10 midi controllers in the past few years and this is the best. I make custum templates and this board makes it soooo easy! automap is fantastic.

I don't care that I NEVER received my RMA

for the original remote 25 that never worked... (I do have many more novation products and the support HAS been great over the years, I just needed to get that out of my system).

I notice the focus of the Novation is the VST market. I have a rack of a dozen modules from an EX-8000 to a K3M and use a D-70 as a master keyboard. I want to switch to a MIDI controller but want to know if it can handle remote hardware as well. Do I need to have software editors for my rack gear for it to work (manually mapped I presume) or can I create maps that when switched to link directly to my rack gear? Is there a visual editor included for such a task?

The SL's Automap features (learning parameters on-the-fly) is only available when used with the Automap Server and VST and or AU plug-ins. This does not use the standard MIDI CC messages so cannot be used to control hardware synths.

To control hardware synths via MIDI CC, NRPN etc, messages, then you can use non-automap templates on the SL. There are 34-40 template slots on the SL for these (depending if you are using automap templates as well).

There is a Template Editor available for the SL. This will allow you to open and pre-made templates for the SL or any other Novation controller keyboard and edit them. Or you can make a new template. All editing can then be saved to disk and uploaded to the SL hardware. You can also edit templates on the SL by moving a knob, then pressing edit. You'll be much quicker using the software editor though!

I have the remote zero sl, great product.

But after a while working with it, I only use the encoders now, becouse of the analog faders and pots (catching parameters is circular to use and imprecise )

Is there a version to come with motorfaders and a 2. row of encoders (maybe with led rings around both), and leds on the buttons?

On the remote sl compact there are leds on the buttons, do they correspond to mutes in Ableton live?

Novation is continually working on improving existing, and developing new products. I cannot divulge any information on any future updates and releases, but I can pass on your comments to our development team.

The button LEDs are not set to correspond to mutes etc in the Ableton template. This is because the buttons are multi-function, so setting up LED for 1 button will work for e.g Mutes, but not when the same button is used for controlling part of a Live instrument. You can edit the buttons to show LEDs.... press the button then 'edit' then change display to LED. I would not suggest this for Live template, but you can use it on a standard MIDI CC template.

Thank you for your comment.We suggest that you listen to it though some high quality monitors rather than laptop speakers. It sounds great on a pair or KRK VXT6s.
