is it me, or do people seem to get scared by the FM panel? I'm making a fucking tutorial. this is just sad! I can make toxic be the #1 synth that you use for practically anything. there is so much more to it than that.

Interesting program....its kinda like Absynth with a a more user friendly interface. Sound is kinda hollow. I would use a vocal enhancer if you were going to record this.

I can do all of this with 3xOSC and 2 free plug-ins, up until oh, the entire video. You did not use the FM Synth, as an FM Synth at all. Try this on for size LFO 1 = Sin LFO 2 = sin LFO 3 = sin LFO 1 : Minus 2 octaves, Modulate with LFO 2 LFO 2 : Minus 3 octaves, Modulate with LFO 3 LFO 3: modulates LFO 2. LFO 1 attack 0 LFO 2 attack 5 sec Sustain, Fade out, total time 15 sec LFO 3 Attack 8 sec, Sustane, Fade out, Total time 12 sec. DO IT. Biohazard, can be made out of smaller freeware VSTs

I bought this synth after discovering the ease of use of this synth. The real power of the toxic biohazard is the FM matrix and the step-sequencer. The tweaks in this video (nicely done btw!) end up in the Nth version of 90's rave synth sounds. But don't be fooled by that. The 6 oscillators and FM matrix can make some serious haunting pads and Moog / ARP like arpeggiators which will rock your sound- setup;) Also deep basses are hidden in there, waiting to be unleashed:) Recommended!

Check the MIDI settings, if your keyboard is enabled there.

the best way to record automation, well the way i do it, i just make an automation clip. go to last clicked parameter, create automation clip.

if you want to record automation, make sure you have selected song mode, not pattern.

check that your midi settings.

@Jacobnielson to record what you play with your regular keyboard is simple, try this way: add a block (of the pattern you are going to record at) - option: EVERYTHING - on the "playlist" (where you have all the patterns). after have an empty block there (right on the place where you want to start record the instrument) just open the piano roll.. and then, press play, the metronome gonna start and you too! :)

This is just a 3xosc with an equalizer and a delay. All these sounds can be made with 3xosc. Don`t get fooled by the fancy interface .

Eh... Toxic Has 32 different waveforms (and they can be modulated endlessly thanks to the FM morphing abilities), 3xOsc has 6 waveforms. Toxic has a very warm and rich unison detuner, 3xOsc has a one-knob "stereo phase randomness" -feature. In Toxic, every oscillator has an own envelope, in 3xOsc there is one for all. And finally Toxic has high-quality effects built-in. I'm not saying that 3xOsc is bad, I love it and use it for simple things, but you simply can't do some sounds with it.

3xosc has endless amounts of waveforms, since you can load any waveform to replace the six default ones. These can also be modulated by Amplitude Modulation which adds harmonic overtones or distorts the loaded waves etc. Using the built-in delay you can create supersaws and really fat analog sounding patches with it. 3xosc is highly underrated I think.

Well Sytrus has some same features but not all. And 3xOsc really can't do the same things (if you use one instance). Every synth has a unique sound.

1. There's a feature that only the particular synth has (like unique waveforms in Massive for instance)

2. It has easier workflow for you

3. It gets you the sounds you want to create quicker

Other than that, they are pretty much all the same.

Great tutorial. Reaaly impressive. But you should tell that you were using a keyboard. At first instance looks lioke you were using the pattern sequencer, but, after a while, it obvious you're paying with a keyboard. It was a bit confusing why you got short sounds. I programmed a pattern, in the sequencer editor and it sounded pretty different from your gate-like sounds at the very first of the turial, but anyway, I've learnt a lot thanks to you :)
