My name is Gene Wilson Jr. Phil and my father were friends years ago. My father passed away in 1969. I still have pictures that Phil sent me as a child.
An awesome car, only if these kids knew how bad they were. This car would put my 428 CJ Fairlane in the weeds, and it set a Natl. record. Thanks for the memories Phil.
The ole guy still has a little game in him .....Just does not want to put a helmet on to mess that Bonner Helmet hair up ! Ha Ha.......I'm the only one in tha family that can speedshift some ford gears......NOT.....Phil Bonner,Jr,,,,Love Ya DAD
I saw Phil at Lions Drag Strip back in the 1966 when he had a Ford AFX falcon. One bad wheel standing bad ass rig. They were all at a meet that featured every afxer in the country. They were all there. What a day. Does any body remember Malcom Durham and his chevy's, or Arnie Beswick with his Pontiac.
@2828Ron Hey, I remember them all, dude! First off, this isn't Phil's car anymore, is it? He's only being verrry respectful of the car and it's owner by not opening up this car like he probably wanted to. This vid was a joy to watch. How old is Phil in this vid? Thanks much......Joel in Tucson
@naderchaser Actually he still owns the car. Our friend Jody Aberts has been keeping it up in Baltimore past year or so. Time to bring her south to Atlanta again. In this video, he is 76. Still turning!
@zuben7o7 Wow, he still owns it. That in itself is incredible. Man, it's just wonderful that a guy who is 76 will still mow the gears and get the grins a bit. Gives me hope. What a joy to watch.
@2828Ron Absolutely! I used to drive right by Malcom Durham Supercar every day on the way to and from work in the Hyattsville/Bladensburg area of Maryland. He was building one badass Chevy Monza at the time. 1978? I was drivin' my '66 GTO to work at the body shop down the street. 389, 3x2, 4spd, 4:33 posi...stock, 13.23.
Old geezers have all the good stuff!!
