  • That Nikon Guy Intro :P

  • Is the js2400 one of the better guitar models to try the synth with? or can it work as welll with any guitar...

  • @DoctrinaBytes It works well with the JS2400 but other guitars are good for it too such as the Music Man Luke which is, for me, the best of the guitars I've used with a GK pickup and GR55...

  • @doha1696 I love the looks of the JS2400. Thanks for letting me know about Music Man and such. Happy playing!

  • @doha1696 Why would a Luke make such a difference... ?

I'm guessing the GK pickup fares better with a flatter radius then?

  • @Odiculeoj It can be that but there are a few parameters interfering all together : the types of wood (the resonnance's not the same), the type of trem, the way you installed the GK pickup, and then, your own settings on the GR55... It's true that the Luke fits very well to the GK (or the GK to the Luke as you want) but other guitars such as the JS of the video are also good "partners" to the GR55....

  • nice little demo! that last patch looks disorienting to play!

  • That is so dope.

  • Followed you here from the VGuitar forum. Very nice playing, great sounds. If only we could sequence them with a computer....such a waste. A 20 sec audio loop is not the same. Thanks for sharing this and adding to the forum :)

  • Killer work, really impressive, man! I'm still getting my GR-55 set up. Vids like this help see what's possible with the unit! Nice Violin tone.

  • Dominik, once again: super test etc. Could you share your Metheny patch?

  • love the piano song keep up the great work

  • this sound is stunning, what amplification are you using?

  • @gibsoneer321 For Live, I'm using a Bose L1 Model II...

  • @doha1696 Very well done .... great thanks to you for this demo ...

By chance, have you ran this through a Bose L1 Compact in comparison ...?

I too have the Bose L1 Model ...

but the Compact L1 is SO much easier to haul around for live gigging ... lol

  • @Odiculeoj Yes, I've used the L1 compact... It's really different from the L1 model II, for me, it's not adapted to live electric music... Acoustic maybe, for very small spaces suchs as bars or pubs but that's all. The sound diffusion is really reduced, the power too. I think it may be a good choice for conferences or school animations but not for rock'n roll "live" music....

  • @doha1696 Actually I've been using the GR-55 with great success gigging with very loud funk bands .... Much to my surprise, as you stated, initially I thought it wouldn't. So in my experience the synth sounds have worked out just fine, so. I guess my question really is if the electric guitar patches & sounds on the GR-55 will also cut it through the Compact L1 ...?

  • Great demo's dude!!

  • You have a nice, natural feel for it now. sounds great!!!

    chris

  • he looks like the man of Shawn of the dead and Paul (movies)

  • @yamahabmxer1 ....Yessss, infact, it's me!!!!!!

  • woha my guitar dream mashine :D

  • Nice job on this demo! Question: I am currently using a GR-10, and VG 88 .Would the 55 be a suitable replacement for both of them?trying to cut back on stage clutter. Also Can I use the 55 as a gtr preamp without using the cosm gtrs while I use the synth stuff at the same time? Like plugging the gtr pickup intoi it as if it was just a Multi FX unit.

Thanx, Vinnie Zummo, Joe Jackson Band

  • @Vazmusic 1/The GR55 will replace your GR10 of course but not completely your VG88 which is a very fine unit from Roland with sounds you won't find on any other else... 2/ You can use the GR55 as a guitar preamp without using the COSM modeled guitars, there're only a few settings to program in the GR55 to use your magnetic guitar pickups instead of the modeled guitars. That means you can have patches with PCM Synth sounds and normal pickups with or without COSM modeled guitars.... Bye. Dominik

  • @doha1696 Thanx That was very helpful Dominik. One moire question...Does the 55 track better than theGR-10? I fiound the GR-10 to be very sluggish in terms of latency. Could never get it just right to trak my playing.

  • @Vazmusic Yes, the tracking's much better on the GR55. There's always a latency on the sounds that come with a hard attack : piano, harps, acoustic guitars for example but it's fully "playable". As you know, playing synth guitar is not so easy as playing usual guitar but things go better year after year and it's a good thing for the composers we all are! 'Hope I'll see you back on Fret-Time. Cheers, Dominik

  • @doha1696 Thanx Dominik.Nice 2 meet U!

  • Le son de piano est mortel, demo geante!!!!!

  • Which Is diferent betwen gk-2 and gk-3??

  • @windsindicate GK2 and GK3 are almost the same... The GK3 is the last version, it's a little bit smaller than the GK2, it's integration on the guitar is better. On the GK3, the hexaphonic pickup can be set higher or lower using a central screw to adjust it with great precision to the strings. But don't worry, if you only get the GK2, it will work quite the same...

  • Which diferent betwen gk2 and gk3?

  • I want to play with the original sound of the guitar pickup, plus an organ sound, and bass sound on the last two strings. Can I do that?

  • @atambourineman Yes you can...

  • The Metheny Ambiance sound really reminds me of Steve Morse heh, great playing!

  • is it possible to loop the direct audio signal of the guitar? or does the gr55 only loop the midi data?

  • @TanburaS You can loop the guitar sound without any problem.

  • @mokuchley Seriously clean and lovely playing... however the GT-55.. it has some really nice sounds - but also a lot of 80's cheese! For example, the violin and piano, guitars and ethereal sounds are fabulous....but oh god, the brass and synth sounds are so 80's.

Nothing wrong with that in itself, except it sounds very easy to descend into longe lizard territory.

This particular video is not bad - but others show this to be the case. I am interested in one of these but would need to reprogram

@+ Dominik

  • very nice, thank you!

  • Thanks for your videos, great playing!

  • Very nice!
