the only thing that sux when running 4 decks is that you have to switch back and forth between decks A/B and C/D using the deck toggle button. When you have decks C/D setup for sample decks, there's no need to do this. I actually preferred using two X-1's because I didn't need the jog dials (no need to adjust pitch with auto sync and pitch bend buttons), have more cue points to access, and I prefer the layout of my DJM-800 mixer.
