  • To open the door he need to stop good.

  • I love Japan but I will stick to the overground lines. Mostly because I am very paranoid about Earthquakes.

  • WHEN WILL JAPAN STOP SLAUGHTERING THE POOR WHALES ??

  • Doors are like on the Paris Métro.

  • good metro !!!! 10/10

  • what if you get stuck between the two doors ?

  • @tarekelfarawi352 thats what i was thinking

  • es sistema de seguridad es de calidad.

  • Sao Paulo's Metro will have this doors on line 2, 3 and 4.

  • what happens when you get trap between the gap?

  • the platform doors are to stop "jumpers" - people throwing themselves under trains is a daily occurance in toyko. New stations have them fitted, but it's still only about 1% of all stations meaning it doesn't really make much difference yet.

  • now this is what i call smart. O_O

wow. they should put something like this in NY.

  • This eliminates subway surfing! LOL! But Nyers are resilient here they would find away! LOL!

  • @Jonathansernel1 I hear on a nw extension, they will

  • @Jonathansernel1 london underground have this too

  • @toxic2k7

Lol i went there in april and never repaired that. :X

  • @Jonathansernel1

Saint Petersburg has doors like this.

    1. Ppl cannot kill themself

    2. Water proof =)

  • @Jonathansernel1

They're studying it for the Second Line Subway.

  • PSD

  • I consider that this blockade is excessive safety measure!

  • @xrenube Not if you consider how crowded the Tokyo subway sometimes is. The crowd is so dense that one or another person can easily be accidentally pushed under the train without anybody noticing it. The blockade is thought to avoid it by hindering everyone from approaching the train before it has stopped and controlling the crowd flow when it has.

  • theres only one problem with this...

    guess what it is;

"Train has arrived, please step behind the yellow line... Gates are opened, please watch your step."

    WHERE'S THE DOOR?

  • @Arxiuz2

"... for Den-en-chofu, Tamagawa, Musashi-Kosugi. Keep your luggage safe from the doors when boarding."

  • Basw raw polikat ah ah! Vari Sadi Not ti pa lisakit bebe!

  • Hey, is there English lettering in Tokyo? Will it be ok to sort everything out if you don't know Japanese?

  • in central tokyo all signs at the station are dual language (JAP-ENG) you will have no trouble at all.

  • There is at least one station on the London Underground with a door system just like this. I think that all stations should have it though, it's much safer in rush hour. Unfortunatly I think most of London's platforms are too narrow to fit the doors.

  • Much more modern than the United States. How sad we are falling so behind.

  • you should have filmed this at 8am when the trains on namboku line are fully packed and people have to push the others to get in. that's the reason why i go to work after 6am haha.

  • I agree with that.

  • Yeah we have that in Bangkok subway as well. But it is not just for safety, but rather to contain the station's air conditioning environement as it is always 30+ C thoughout the year over here!

  • i dont like those doors. i love berlin subway!

  • Those doors on the stations are perfect, great idea for safety (for blind or deaf). If every town in the world had that,it" very useful

  • @RA274 i cant read this ..but i like your commentar

  • Same system in Paris (France) Line 14 + no pilot.

  • I was not saying that my country had better transports I just said we have something similar. It's not my fault if my country is the most visited country of the planet earth the most popular destination for turism and the number one exporter of trains. I just can't help it. ^__^ Btw I hope one day all lines will like this one that system is safe and should become the standard.

  • Also, platform doors increase safety to allow for one-man operation of trains. Bad news for Sha-Sho-san (Conductor/Guard)!

  • Smart to have those doors there. I bet the suicide temps are non existence.

  • These doors are for the blind men.

  • And for suicide prevention. They also work well if the station is packed- they make sure that no one call fall on the rails.

It's a beautiful system that should be used all over the world IMHO.

  • What if both doors shut, and your caught in the middle. Then when the train takes off, your stuck on the rails! Negative effect!!

  • Only one (or two) such event has been noted.

It happened somewhere in China where a man was crushed to death.

But the system seems to be quite safe untill now.

  • it happend in london before, but the woman was just stuck briefly between the train and the platform, she wasnt injured

  • But I'm sure that they have put sensors in the doors, that's normal. Just like in the elevators.

  • there is an emergency button you can press when you get stuck in between and i am sure some sensors too...

  • Well, new subways in japan recently allways have platform-doors.

  • @ichibanjp in Paris also the new subways everywhere got doors

  • @ichibanjp platform doors^^

  • i wish the US had doors on the station

  • i know

  • I have never seen metro like that. So interesting! Two doors! :)

  • yeah that no one can commit suicides:) and its true!

  • almost every underground station in hong kong has those doors

  • Some major centres in Europe also have them like France, London, Milan, etc. I think its a pretty cool idea :P

Also Narita Airport ALWAYS had this double door thing for it's shuttle train, but yeah... i want to see this next time i go to Japan

  • Milan doesn't have them ;)
