Son House moved to Rochester NY and became a conductor on Amtrak for quite a few year. He slowly faded into alcoholism until the guy from Canned Heat dragged him out of his decline, made him relearn all of his songs and made it possible for Son House to give concerts again. He suffered with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's later in life, moved to Detroit where he died.
@kc2dtp I missed being able to see him in Rochester, NY by only 1 year, but a lots of people on Clarissa Street remember him. Cornelius Eady wrote a very moving poem about Son House in one of his books.
Poor guy, became a preacher, got accused of murder, went back to being a preacher, and then turned to the blues. And the blues will never leave you baby
@sunnytsofiya Yes, his had talent like no other. Unfortunately, life could have been better to him. But, I guess that is why he is the master of the blues.
If this dont give you the chills, then you really dont understand the blues............
