Hey what do you think about my HIIT workout: 3 min warming 12 min workout (1:00 walking 6 miles per hour 1:00 sprinting 11 miles per hour) and a cool down of 3 min... I workout on a treadmill after my regular workout at least 2 times per week am i doing it rigth?
please answer this: can you do HIIT & a weight training session, e.g. squats, you know normal weight training on the same day? or never on the same day thanks .
This is the most effective workout Ever! I have lost two stone in just three months....amazing exercise. I walk for 1 min 10secs and then sprint for 40 secs, I do this ten times, the results are amazing and very fast. I use to jogg not very effective at all, I now do this only three times a week it takes me around 22 mins each session. I can't praise it high enough....fantastic.
@sallylongpants Yes, I do the HIIT as shown in the video, plus I mix it up with some jogging, walking etc.I average about 12 to 12km/h, so therefore run 6km in 30 minutes. With regards to the incline, I started on an average incline of 0.5. then increased to 1.0, now I average 1.2 to 1.3.
I have been doing HIIT training for 8 months, and have lost more than 20kg (45lbs). HIIT training is very effective at burning off fat, and I do it 6 to 7 days per week at the gym on the treadmill.
@XristarasGamieste You must take into account that I have a very, very slow metabolism (I get it from my mum who has to take medication for a thyroid condition), and losing weight for me takes a lot of hard work. I don't eat cheeseburgers, and I don't drink alcohol, my diet is mainly fish, fruit and vegetables, I haven't eaten a cheeseburger in more than 9 months.
the rest periods should be half as long as the intensity periods. for example: If you sprint at maximum intensity (whatever speed that is for you) for 1 minute, then you should be walking / jogging for 30 seconds during the rest period that follows. do this 5-6 times during a workout with 5 minutes of warming up beforehand at a medium pace and then another 5 minutes afterwords for cooling down (walking)
@SubZeroSkyLine hey I am not the one your asking but I read your comment :) if you have a good diet to lose weight you will lose quit enough until you hit plateau ..usually people hit plateau when you only need to lose about 5 more punds or something like that and if you did hit plateau you should increase the max speed time and reduce the fast walking time or keep it the same but increase the max speed time ( you know just start mixing up )
Hi whats a good sprinting speed for HIIT on a Threadmill? The video stated 10miles/hr~12miles/hr?? Thats like 14~18km/hr... Isn't is TOO fast on a threadmill, and could possibly be dangerous from slipping off?
NutritionPark - I got up to 8mph at a ratio of 1:1 for 5 to 6 sessions. I do a recovery of 4mph. BUT - your video totally helped me! I tried 8.5MPH sprint today and then upped the recovery to 4.5MPH and I couldn't do it! I now realize I can go lower on the recovery portion while still raising the high part. Hopefully I'll get to 12 or 12.5 but only like 30 second intervals b/c I don't think I could keep up the 12MPH for 1 minute!
@dogsallthaway77 I would first do zero incline at the maximum speed you can do it. The treadmills I use only go up to 10mph which isn't nearly fast enough for me so I bump off the incline between 1-5.
Not bad video, but the heavily accented English is a little difficult to understand. Also, all the commercials are annoying, but oh well I guess nothing is free.
can HIIT burn belly fat at all? i've been doing HIIT for about a month and a half now and i love the results but i have no control over the rate of fat loss in different parts of my body. my manboobies are gone, i lost about 2 inches on my waist, my inner thighs stopped rubbing against each other for the 1st time in 9yrs. GREAT!! but my booty is disappearing and my belly fat remains
You never mentioned how long down time should be. For example 45 sec at level 11 then how long should I walk at level 2 before jumping back up again???
@Mr12inches1 It is. Doing hiit for 30 mins(30 sec boost 30 sec cooldown) myself, works like an ace. It is better than cardio, because of the aftereffect your body is going to burn fat for the next 48 hours, whereas normal cardio only burns it while you're on it.
@5timesliverpoolfc Kind off yes. Exchange the 30 sec sprint with HIGH intensity, that means you must go as fast as you CAN, for 30 seconds. Also, shorten the 2 minutes to 1 minute or so and then repeat that for 15-30 mins(if you can).
I use many different methods to work out, but, HIIT has to be the most effective for me. I have a hereditary neurological disorder that effects my periphiral nervous system, if I work out every day it just makes my weaker. With the HIIT workout, I train 2-3 times a week for 10-30minutes and definitely see gains in strength, endurance and body composition, and it gives my body time to recover. The biggest benefit for me is I can really challenge myself each time I train, a challenge makes it fun.
Not during the workout no. You'll burn more doing the 30 mins during THAT TIME FRAME. However, during the entire day, you'll actually burn more calories with the HIIT.
HIIT shocks the body and sends it into a mode in which it will burn calories throughout the entire day vs the 30 mins of cardio that will burn most of the calories during the workout.
You wouldn't make it. Can you sprint for 60 min? No! Sprint for 15-20 secs, rest. Do it again. Depending on your conditioning level, try doing 6 sprints total. 10-15 minutes. Thats all you need. Trust me it works.
i meant like if I do just normal interval training like if i run normally in the treadmill for 45 minutes will I get the same results if i do wat u told me to do..???
@nutritionpark Interesting.. how about cardio in the days in between? so is either 15, 30, 45 sec sprint followed always by 30sec walk?? How long should be HIIT?? 20min including warming up and cool down?? will longer say 40 min not good?? is HIIT better for fat burn than aerobic training? any help is greatly apreciated!
so if my highest is 11.0 i have to do it for 30 sec and then drop to 4.0
but isn't there another way where you start for example 7.0 then 4.0 then 7.5 then 4.0 then 8.0 then 4.0. the .5 adding every interval,. which one is better
There's no exact time to lower the intensity. There has been studies conducted on professional athletes that suggest that lower times at higher intensity does indeed do more work on the body.
Search up "Tabata training". It is used by many olympic athletes, and you will probably never be able to complete it if you are doing it right. So theres a challenge.

@JJC1984 HIIT should not be preformed for more than 20 minutes. 10-20 minutes would be ideal with a 5 to 10 minute warm up and cool down.

yep. On the days I don't feel like getting on the treadmill, I do HIIT on the stationary bike. Works well.

So total of 10-15 mins HIIT burns more than a cardio of 30mins with speed 10mph?

Yes. If you go all out, it will burn more calories. No need to spend an hour on the treadmill. 10-15 min will do it. Intensity is the key.

Yes you may. But if you do it outdoors, you are subject to weather conditions.
Also, running on hard ground outdoors is actually bad for the knees. If you get a good treadmill, it should help reduce impact on your knees.
Enjoy!
